I had my first appointment yesterday since 34 weeks! I LOVE my new doctor! He is a super nice guy. He walked in and I immediately felt comfortable with him. He's very warm and friendly!

I had to do a midstream test (not easy...its hard enough to pee in a cup with a belly in the way....but now to only get the middle part...yeah right!). I was nervous about the whole BGS butt swab thing....but they just give you the swab, send you to the bathroom and you do it yourself...what a relief!

He didn't do an internal. He doesn't do them until 40 weeks and even then, he only does it once. I asked about his policy on inductions (wanted to make sure he wasn't going to try and shove one on me) and he won't even consider one until 42 weeks (unless there's a medical reason for one, of course). He said I can eat and drink during labour and I can push in whatever position is comfortable to me. He's so great!

The only thing that sucks is he's on vacation next week...and I'm due pretty soon thereafter. So...I'm hoping to maybe go one or two days past due so he'll be there.

Ohh....and I've gained 11 pounds since 34 weeks...making a total of 33 pounds...ugh.

I forgot to ask about hospital policies on IV's and EFM....but I'll ask next week (then I'll have my results of the GBS test, so that'll help).

That is wicked that you found a great doc! I did the GBS swab myself too, much better then having someone else do it I think. Here's hoping that he's around for your birth!!!!

I'm feeling much better today, thanks Bobbi! Nothing to report. I jump at every little twinge. I think I may actually be imagining cramps now! lol I am feeling some back pain and some tummy pain....but in the wrong spot!! My shoulders and upper back are sore...and I get painful, kind of tightening feelings at the top of my tummy. So now I'm just trying to relax and encourage labour to come by doing absolutely nothing! I'm going to stay with Ryan for a week! I had a huge break down today...being here without him has been miserable. So I'm going back home to see him. Mind you, I'll now be 3 hours away from the hospital I'm supposed to deliver at....but I definatly see myself going past due...so I'm hoping I'll make it back in time. Ryan goes on holidays for 2 weeks starting on Friday, so we'll come back here together. It will be so nice to have him around for the last bit of my pregnancy. It seems like such a special time and it will be so much better to share it with him!!

It is so hard being away from the SO around this time, I would be a mess too. You are probably fine being 3hrs away even if you do go into labor, you can drive home, might not be the most pleasant ride home but doable. Enjoy your time together!

That must be really hard for you to be away from him. I'm glad you'll be with him for the next couple weeks though. Enjoy your special time! Biggrin

Thanks girls!!

Honestly, it is the BEST feeling in the world having him next to me at night. There's nothing better than lying in bed and having him hold me! I guess I didn't realize ust how scared I am about having this baby. We're so young...and so not ready. At night is when it hits me hard, I guess. But having him with me, I just felt like it was going to be ok! I feel so lucky to have someone who loves me and our baby so much!! He kept his hands on my belly all night...it was a really nice bondnig time for us.

I think my body is catching up now. I've been having BH contractions every once in a while...and they are uncomfortable (not painful though). And last night I did have cramping that came and went, not too painful, but noticeable. I didn't time them because I knew they were nothing but I am SOOOOOO happy that I'm at least starting to gear up!!

I am so glad you have the support you need right now, nothing feels better than that. It is very possible you won't go into labor until you feel safe and secure and can mentally say it is okay for you to have the baby now.

Oh and I am 30yrs old, married for 8yrs have two kids already and I am scared to death to add another to the mix. I don't know how you ever get yourself mentally ready to raise another human being. You will do it and it will be the most amazing experience of your life.

Woooo! Yay for love!

I wouldn't worry about feeling nervous - every mother feels nervous whether she's got 16 or 0 children already!

It won't be long now for you - I can't believe how quickly it's come about!

Love,

Sarah-Jean

I saw Hairspray last night (for the second time) and it is the BEST movie ever. I just thought you should know!

Still no baby! But I have figured out how to make her come. I booked an appointment at a portrait studio for Ryan and I to get maternity photos on Satruday (the day before my due date). Because I REALLY want to do this, Brooklynn will come before hand. That's always the way, isn't it? Wink

I am soo happy for you that you get to be with Ryan and spend some time together before Brooklyn gets here. I also think you guys will be great parents, even if you don't feel ready. I second the PP, in that my pregnancy was planned and we seem to have everything ready, but I still feel unprepared to be a mom. I guess it is just such a huge unknown with so many what-if's, that it is hard for anyone to be completly prepared. You two will be just fine, I am sure of it.

I hope you get your photos done, they will be great keepsakes. If not, you can always get some great mom, dad and baby pics done!

Ooo yeah! Mum, Dad and Newborn baby pics sound great! But hey, even if she does co-operate and doesn't come before then, then you'll have some fantastic maternity pictures too!!!!

Maybe I should try that trick! Except for my DH insists the ONLY way to get a baby to come out is DTD... And so won't try anything else! Cheeky bugger!

LOL Yeah...Ryan "read a study" that says if you have sex 5 times every day, you'll go into labour within a week.

I had to go in to L&D yesterday for a 4 HOUR NST...because I was in a car accident. What a PITA! Anyways, me and baby are fine!! I had VERY high blood pressure for a while (duh...I was in a car accident) and a fever and Brooklynn's HR was 190 for a while...so they had to keep me for observation. Everything levelled out over time though so all is good. Of course, I did discover that I am having zero contractions still....so I'm doubting that there'll be a bab anytime soon! lol. Luckily, I'm not feeling very impatient right now!

Yikes, sorry about the accident. Glad everything turned out OK . . . but I couldn't imagine sitting thru a 4-hour NST. UGH!!

LOL yep That was my first NST. Not fun. I'm hoping I won't have to do that again. I was trying to figure out what all the lines meant to keep me occupied...but I have no clue and then the nurse got mad because I was moving too much and it kept picking up my HR instead of the babies! :?

Ryan is getting worried because I am still showing ZERO signs of labour. He's with me at my parents house until the 24th, then he has to go back to work. I really want to have the baby soon so he can have as much time with her as possible. I'm really hoping she has good timing. My mom says I should try castor oil if she goes too far overdue....but I'm not sure...*sigh* here's to hoping it doesn't come to that!

My due date begins in 25 minutes. Annnnd....there's nothing going on. I'm convinced that I'm going to be overdue...by like a year! She's stubborn like her daddy, thats for sure!

It is so hard to go past that due date, just remember the average gestation for a first time mom is over 41wks. Hang it there sweetie she can't stay in there forever.

This is me...trying to be patient.

I have a confession. I broke in a moment of weakness. I tried Castor Oil. Now...there was a reason, and no, it wasn't a super good one, and I feel pretty guilty...but it didn't work...so I guess it doesn't matter.

With Ryan's time being so limited, I really wanted Brooklynn to come on time so that she and him can have at least 2 weeks bonding time before he leaves again. I talked to the doctor who is filling in for mine about it. He said that I could try castor oil because if my body isn't ready, it won't do anything. No harm done kind of thing. Well, obviously my body isn't ready and all I got was the runs for like an hour (TMI) then nothing. It wasn't as bad as I've heard people say...it didn't taste bad, I had no unpleasant side effects and it felt kind of nice to clean myself out! LOL

Anyways...there it is. I won't be doing it again until they start threatening induction...and that won't be for a while yet. Here's to hoping something happens soon!!

Hi Kalista,

I'm really enjoying reading your posts, I feel we have a lot in common. I'm 24 and I'm also having my first baby. I have been going through a lot of the sensations as you have described them earlier on in your posts. I'm 37 weeks.
Hang in there, it will happen. Keep reading your positive birth stories and try not to be pressured by other people.

Still here. Still pregnant.

My next doctor's appointment is on the 23rd. I'll be almost 2 weeks past due at that point and I know he'll want to talk induction. I'm REALLY hoping that I won't make it to that...because by then, my resolve probably won't be as strong.

I woke up at 3 this morning and couldn't go back to sleep. I've been feeling like absolute crap all day. I threw up. My stomach hurts, my throat hurts, my back hurts. Let's hope this means something, although I seriously doubt it! lol

My water broke at 5:30 am. I have 6 hours before I have to go to the hospital unless contractions start before then.

I am amazed and slightly disgusted by just how much fluid is coming out of me right now!! Seriously...its like Niagara Falls down there. I'm afraid to get up off the towel I'm sitting on (which is soaked) because I'll create yet another puddle on the floor!!

I was having a few contractions, very minor, hardly painful and not at all regular...but nothing for the last 20 minutes or so. I would like to go for a walk to try and get things going...but...I'd leave a trail...and that's gross. So....I'm just going to do nothing.

Oh good luck Kally! I am so excited for you, hope things pick up quickly and you have that baby in your arms soon!

You could get some depends or something like that, I hear they are great for holding the water in. Then you could go for a walk without leaving a trail.

I'm back!! Exhausted, sore and So in love with my new family. I'd go a million days overdue...its so worth it!!

Everything is going so well!! My milk came in today but I'm not engorged or uncomfortable. Brooklynn feeds like a champ...we've had virtually no problems. I do use a nipple sheild right now because while we were learning to latch, I got all cracked and now they need to heal. I'm so glad we're BFing...I feel so close to her...love it!!

I'm still really sore...and haven't been able to poop, which is causing me some worry. I have no idea how long it should be...but I hurt and I think part of the problem is that I'm afraid!!

We went to the mall today, I got a teeny bit of excercise. It felt good to get out but I only managed about 20 minutes!!

Anywhoo...here is the link to my birth story and pictures!!
