Hey... I just came over and noticed my lodge HURRAY!!

I cannot believe that I am due in one week. It is very exciting and it makes me a little nervous. I cannot wait to meet my little boy, but it will be interesting not to have these quiet mornings with just me and my husband.

I am very anxious about the coming week because my mom is coming from SC to stay with me for 3 weeks. She flys in on Wednesday. I was really hoping to go into labor before she got here because she is very pro-medication. She asks me at least once per phone call if I will induce so she can spend more time with her grandson (her first grandchild). Bill and I have taken 12 weeks of classes. My husband has watched so many videos of ladies giving birth (this was a miracle to even get him to think about watching these video) and we feel really prepared to do everything naturally. I even now wish I had opted for a home birth with a midwife (there is always next time). I just don't want my mother interferring with my labor by constantly suggesting we go to the hospital or getting me some pain medication. Or just being there while I labor. I just want to be in a quiet house me and my husband.

The good thing is that I have spoken with my doctor about this special situation and my doctor has given the order that an induction would not be wise and maybe even "dangerous" with me Biggrin

Anyway I am still holding on to hope that little baby might come in the next 3 days and all this worry will be about nothing!

elshells, by the way, what is your first name?

I had a pro-medication mom too. The last thing she said to me before I gave birth was that it was ok to take the medicine. Not what I wanted to hear. But I tried to come to terms with it by realizing that this is what was important to her. It had nothing to do with me but her projection onto me. Maybe hearing about this can help you.

Also, things have a way of working out for the best. I mean, it may not be what you expect, but at the time it happens the way it needs to.

Keep us posted!

Yikes! If your mother is staying with you, it's likely a good thing that you're not having a home birth. That way when it's time to go to the hospital/birthing center you can leave her behind. I'm soooo glad that your doctor and you are on the same page about the induction.

Oh yeah I guess I should tell you a little bit about me.

My name is Laura. I have been married for over 5 years, although we have know each other for over 12 years. This our first child and we are very excited. It was a surprise, but a good one. We have always wanted children, but I was too scared to actually try to get pregnancy. I found out the day after we got back from a climbing trip to Red Rocks Nevada. I had really bad indigestion the whole trip and when I came home and looked at a calendar I knew something was up.

I used to rock climb, run, adventure race, and just love being outdoors. I plan on doing these again once my big belly is gone!! Although Junior will now be going along with me.

And I really want to have a natural birth for two reasons:
1. I am terrified of needles and tubes in me.
2. I feel like God has given me the equipment I need to give birth.

Today I have been having tons of braxton hicks and cramping and losing lots more plug stuff. How big can this thing be??? To quote my husband "You must have had a lot to plug up" :? What does that mean??

We went to church, then swimming, then walking, and now I am going to take a nap... or try.

Thanks so mcuh for the kind words!

My mom is the same way. For some reason she doesn't think I will be able to handle it, and keeps reminding me that it will be the most horrible pain ever. She still isn't quite with the water birth idea.

I totally agree with you on your 2 reasons for natural birth!!

Regarding the plug, it regenerates itself every 24-48 hours, so it's not the same plug that you're losing more and more of, but new plug stuff.

OK this is rather off topic. Way off topic, but it was so shocking I had to share.

This morning the neighbor's dog started barking. And I was like what is goign on out there, because it was not just typical dog barking. I looked outside and it was something in the front yard that I could not see. So I was cleaning up from breakfast and about to walk in here when I heard a loud boom and see my cats run from the kitchen. I look at my husband and I was like did I make something fall? Husband says it sounds like a gun shot. So I look out my window and this is what I see. My neighbor in a tank top and boxers with a shot gun in his hand and an armadillo upsidedown with it's feet moving frantically and he is moving in for another shot. I jump back from the window and hear another gunshot.

It was a shocking way to start the day. But not shocking enough to make my baby come out.

I don't like seeing any animal die Sad But I hate the gopher and armadillos that destroy our yard. We have a brown holey mess for a yard.

OK that is all for now.

Holy fried armadillo, Batman, that IS shocking!

Glad you survived. And I'm glad this didn't start labor. My hope for you is something a little more auspicious than this portentious event.

Wow, around here he would have been arrested, for firing a shotgun inside city limits!! (My Dad almost was for shooting a bird hehe)

We live outside city limits but on a nice golf course. So he won't get in trouble for shooting, but it is not like I live way out in rural country area either.

But dangit he left that nasty carcass sitting right outside my kitchen window. In the Texas heat. I smell it wafting in the window :?
Man I am mad about that. My husband said he the neighbor did not clean it up by this afternoon, he would dig a hole and bury it. I feel bad for my husband to have to do that sorta clean up job, but I want it gone.

Tonight is graduation night from birthing class!!!
I got a call from my teacher last night and one of the couples in our class had their baby yesterday. It was a natural VBAC!!!! She was so excited. Last time the girl had the placenta abruption thing and had to have an emergency c-section. She said it happened so fast she did not get to take it all in. So I am really excited for her!

I was so bored at home yesterday that I am going to work today.

My mom comes tomorrow, so me and DH are holding on the last string of hope that the baby might come over night.

That's it for now!

Yikes - I'm sorry about your mom. My mom is great that way but my MIL...now that's another story. She's determined that I won't be able to handle a natural water birth. I'm also hoping I go while she's away (whole other story but she's leaving for two weeks before the due date as she's sure I will be late with my first). Just keep positive and know you can do it regardless of what she says. Have fun at your graduation!

Congratulations on your lodge, and sorry you had to witness the armadillo murder. Smile We lived in TX for a couple years when I was a kid, and our golden retriever used to chase the armadillos in the state parks. It was pretty hysterical.

Good luck on the situation with your mom - I hope you don't have to deal with too much added stress during this special time for you & your DH.

I havent' posted here for you yet, so welcome to the end of the journey. The Armadillo thing sounds gross, I'm glad we don't have them. I've actually never seen one IRL, I'm a sheltered Alaskan:) How big are they? Do they dig holes in your lawn? Good for your neighbor for cleaning it up, he should have done it as soon as he shot the crazy thing! So how are you feeling about the arival of your mom? Hope all goes well, and maybe you'll get to be in the hospital when she arives.(Only wishing that on you if your ready to deliver at any moment)

Armadillos are gross looking when they are big... to me they remind me of a piglet with armor on them. I thought of taking a pic of the crime scene, but it was too gruesome.
Baby armadillos are pretty cute. I guess all babies are pretty cute.

Something has changed in my body. All of a sudden it feels like the baby is going to drop out between my legs. It is really a strange feeling like my body is having to hold on tight or the baby will fall out.

I am calming down about my mom. My husband helps alot with calming me down. He just reminds me if the baby has not come and she is here it must be for a reason. Tomorrow when she comes in we are going to have lunch with a friend of mine that has a one month old baby. That way she can get her baby fix!

Sounds like a good plan, getting her baby fix may help her be a little more patient. Thank you for not photoing the gross mess:) If you ever come across a baby one I'd like to see it, but I have a feeling your going to have a different kind of baby to show off here real soon. Have you gone on some long walks? It sounds like your getting there, wishing you the best!

I just looked at my ticker and it made me smile when I saw only 4 days left until due date. I know I can go for up to a couple of weeks afterwards, but it is exciting none the less.

Last night was birthing class graduation night. The couple that had a natural VBAC just 24 hours beforehand was there. Their baby was soooo cute and just got me all excited to meet my little squirmy worm. I am up right now because I am sooooo hungry and I was cramping bad enough not to sleep. The cramps are probably because I am hungry (even though I just ate 3 hours ago).

When I woke up at 1:45 I saw this crazy flashing green light. I could not figure out what it was so I turned on the light and it was a lightening bug. This is the first time I have seen a lightening bug at my house since we moved here 5 years ago.

Sorry I have not posted in the past day or so.

Mom is here in full force. Right now she is re-scrubing on the stove... underneath the eyes. Showing me if I just some elbow grease that a couple of little black marks would come off

Yesterday after I vaccumed the hard woodfloors. She dust mopped and showed me what I had missed.
She also asked if we could go on a day trip to San Antonion 2.5 hours away from my house to talk around the alamo all day. I said I did not feel up to that right now, she said that I am not walking enough so the baby won't come. Sad

In better news, I went to the doctor yesterday and me and the baby are both doing well. I have this feeling he will either come on the 4th or 5th of July. I went to a nursing speciality shop yesterday and got 2 "sleep" bf bras. My mom is not bring up induction anymore right now so that is at least not on my mind.

I am sorry I have not responded much. I plan on spend some time on the computer this afternoon and catching up on everyone's lodges!

Oh dear Laura - don't blame you a bit for wanting to skip out on walk...2.5 hours away...that's like 5 hours of driving in one day! Don't let her work you too hard - you need to rest up for what's to come!

Yeah if you think you're that close, stay home. I wouldn't want to be walking around the Alamo and go into labor lol!! All that cleaning stuff then showing you what you missed? That sounds EXACTLY like my Mom!!!

I'm sorry you are having to deal with that right now. I'm sure it's a bit stressfull! I would totally not go for a 5 hour drive to go on a walk. For the record walking won't make the baby come trust me on this one:) I tried it many times and it didn't work. If your already in labor I would say to walk and that will help your progress, but not before hand. I guess it may send some ladies into labor, but everyone. Hope your having a good day, and tell your mom your saving some scrubbing and some dirt to keep you busy another day.

Gee, thanks mom for the cleaning advice. Sounds like she is doing your nesting for you. Good grief. You are a champ to put up with that.

I liked your comment about armadillos being like piglets because I've always thought so too.

I cannot believe my ticker has one day left! Crazy!

I think he will come next week sometime. Today my little man has been shifiting like crazy in my belly. It was even hurting a little. He moved from the left side to kinda the center of my belly. I am hoping he is getting lined up for the birth canal. I still feel his head on the left side of my pelvis. I hope it is not cocked to the side too much. I think lunges help that, but I am not sure if I should try those now or in labor. hrmm.

Anyway things are pretty quiet here today. My mom is still cleaning like crazy. Even though I think my house was really clean. I am just tryong to stay out of her way.

I am going to see superman today and I am super excited about that!

Thanks for all the kind words! Ya'll are really encouraging and I appreciate it so much.

Enjoy Superman and please give a full report because I almost went to see it but didn't.

I'd say that lunges will help beforehand, but they will really really help during labor. I used deeeeeep squats between contractions during transition to help open up, and it worked very well.

You are wise to stay out of your mother's way. Not everyone would be able to do this, but you are able to recognize it and do it. Good for you!

Hey Thanks ya'lll!

That made my day! It is much better than being reminded that the baby is not here yet! He is still baking and I am fine with that. Now next Sunday I might be getting frustrated.

I am glad it is a holiday week... I went on several walks tonight and got to see some kids outside shooting fireworks. It looks like lots of fun! Plus we have a cookout to go to on Tuesday. It is nice having plans to keep me occupied.

I really appreciate the support!

So last night we were watching a movie and my mom asks "If you don't go into labor by next week will you ask for some help" (meaning an induction)

I told her no and my doctor had advised against it because I am healthy and so is the baby. And then she started whining about how disappointed she is going to be because she lives so far away and cannot afford to come see me often and she is going to miss out on being a grandmother.... blah blah blah.

The thing I don't understand is she knew that she had me almost 3 weeks late. Why would she make her plane ticket for a week before my due date and only two weeks afterwards. I tried to convince her to come later, but she did not want to miss out on the birth.

Oh well. I told her kindly, but very firmly that we had to think about what is good for the baby... not what we want. Also I am a little frustrated that I am using my maternity leave right now because she came so early. Instead of saving it for when the baby comes.

Thanks for letting me vent again :?

Mothers. Gotta love 'em.

You are a saint with yours.

Hang in there. You are absolutely doing the best thing for you and your baby. And an induction could spiral into a c-section if you're not ready, so you really ARE doing the best thing. Do you want to increase your chances of a c-section just so your mom can see the baby longer? Um, I think not. Stick to your guns. You go girl.

This is a great place for venting. We are all with you and sending you strength.

Today is another doc appointment. I hope it is my last one before I deliver.

Things are good, just getting impatient :-?

Last night I was feeling some crazy strong contractions and I thought it was time, but they went away like always. I know he will probably come in the next two weeks, but I am just ready to see him NOW!

Just a quick update... round two: I lost my mp again! I lost it about 2 weeks ago and I know it regenerates itself and surprise I lost it again this am. It had some blood too. I have been cramping last night and this am, but it is not contractions. I am hoping something happens, but who knows. IT might be another week.

Mom is still here and sad, but DH is staying home with us today to intervene. They are working on a project right now!

Also today I am VERY excited to go see Pirates of the Carribean 2. I love JOhnny Depp.

A very belated welcome to your lodge Biggrin Though I haven't been posting, I've been thinking of you often and am excited for you!

I had to laugh about the Alamo thing. My mom lives in San Antonio and it was such a different place than we imagined (in the middle of the city). And I soooooo can't imagine driving all that way to walk around there at this time in your pregnancy LOL Ah, moms...

BTW, tomorrow is my due date and I would love for you to give birth in honor of the day Wink Here's hoping your little one is ready soon--it is incredible!

I have been waiting patiently to see the Pirate's movie as well.... I LOVED the first one!!!! I told Mike I don't care if I'm in labor, we have to go see it asap!!!! LOL
