I am finally going to take a stab at the birth story but I'm sure I will leave some stuff out b/c I'm still trying to figure out what happened!

The week before I was admitted I started to feel sick and thought maybe I was getting the flu. Never had a temp or anything just felt yucky to begin with and then it got to where I couldn't breathe at night and couldn't sleep at night. I started getting headaches and really bad shoulder & neck tension but I thought it was from lack of sleep! This went on for approx 7 days with the last like 4 days being absolutely horrible! I didn't want to eat or do anything but sleep and cry and all I could do was cry. So I took off that Friday at work so I could at least sit on the couch but by Sunday I was about to die from the neck pain/headache/no sleep. MIL said call the doc & I threw a big fit b/c I didn't want to go to the ER but after checking my bp & it being sky high, I went. I spent about 6 hours in the ER and then transferred to antepartum & waited for the dr the next day. My dr's partner came in the next morning and said lets run some test & they thought I just had chronic high bp...that's it. Well after doing the protein test and all my other b/w it was finally confirmed I had severe pre-e! Everyone was shocked! And to top it all off I had pneumonia! They wanted to take the baby immediately b/c I was so sick but b/c I was only 25 wks they held off and gave me 2 steroid shots to mature her lungs and then started me on magnesium to prevent seizures. The magnesium made me feel like CRAP and I was lethargic for about 3 days I think. I couldn't do anything by myself. My vision was horribly blurred, could barely get food to my mouth, the nurses had to bathe me, etc. Eventually they took my off the mag and we just waited to see the next step. The u/s showed great blood flow but my fluid levels would get low and then go up again and then low. We also found out she had a 2 vessel cord instead of 3 and that can also cause her growth to be restricted. I also gained 20 lbs in a little over a week due to the pre e which made it impossible to get IV's in me so I got a picc line...that was fun! So after 2 wks of waiting and watching & realizing Emma probably wasn't growing anymore and the NICU dr's said they could do better we decided to do an emergency section. That day was rough b/c of all the emotions and they had to give me a separate IV from the pic line which was hell. B/c the anesthesiologist (sp?) and nurses couldn't get an IV in before my surgery I was bumped another hour & I lost it! Finally on the 4th try and an hour later I had an IV and a horribly bruised arm! I hate to say it but I had been such a great patient the whole time and I was so ready for this pg to be over with at that point! I can't even begin to tell you what I was feeling at that time I'm just thankful I'm finished! Anyways, I got a regular spinal and it was super easy and dh got to video tape the sect. When I delivered my bp was 200/115 and the dr said that was great for me! Emma Grace Titsworth was born on Feb. 10th, 2007 at 4:56 pm and weighed 1 lb 7.2 oz and was 12.5 inches long. She had a great pink color and I heard her first cry and the NICU dr brought her to me so I could kiss her forehead and her eyes were wide open! It was so amazing! Dh went with them to the NICU and I was being cleaned up but they couldn't stop my uterus from bleeding. They were talking about doing a blood transfusion b/c I was losing so much blood but they were able to get it stopped. My dr said what should've taken him 30 minutes to do took close to 2 hours! I'm a problem child! B/c I lost so much blood I was very unstable throughout the night and I had to go back on magnesium b/c of an even higher risk of seizures and I didn't get to see my baby again until the next morning around 1:30am! I was so upset about that and when I finally saw her for about 2 minutes I got nauseus (sp?). One good thing is I was able to pump my milk and she has been getting it everyday! My b/p never went down so I'm on medication for several months. I had to stay a total of 2 1/2 wks and the hardest day was having to leave the hosp with no baby. I had to see all the other moms going home with their babies and it was very hard the first few days. I still was so swollen & could hardly walk but after about a week or so it got better. So now I visit my sweet little girl everyday and she is so precious & all the nurses love her! She is so strong & stubborn and I love her little personality already! I hope you enjoyed reading my wonderful pg/birth experience!

Earlier on Sunday I had visited the L&D and posted this story:
Woke up at 5 with irregular cramping, that turned regular along with a backache. Also thought I might have the beginnings of an UTI. So called the dr (cramping every 4 minutes). Of course she said to go in. I didn't think it was the real deal (pain not that intense) but I wanted to get checked out for the UTI. NST showed good fetal heart tones and contractions every 2-4 minutes. US showed good fluid levels around a breech baby (he's now head up ). No UTI though. My cervix was only a fingertip dilated (normal for BTDT moms) and not the consistancy of a "laboring cervix." I was relieved to be discharged (did not want to have the baby this early, esp if he's breech.) I'm still feeling the contractions every 6-10 minutes (mostly backache). I'm going to try to move up my Wednesday appt to tomorrow if the cramping doesn't let up. There's no way I'll be able to handle 5 more weeks of this. The pain is not unbearable, but it's strong enough to keep me from resting and is getting old fast.
The contractions continued every 6-10. Around 9pm, we put DD to bed and popped in a DVD to watch and just chill out. By 10pm, I notice that the contractions seem stronger and closer together, so I start timing. Sure enough they were every 4 minutes. By 11pm, DH noticed that my mood was serious and I wasn't talking through contractions. I told him we need to go back. Called the dr and waited for my SIL to arrive. DH drove like a mad man while I sat there praying that the baby had flipped head down. We made it to the hospital by midnight. The contractions are REALLY bad by this point. The nurse hooked me up to the monitor and left to get the resident. They come back with the u/s machine. Baby was head down (yay!!!! Thank you God) She checks me and I'm at 4 cm, 100% effaced with a bulging bag of waters. I requested an epi the dr left to do the admitt/med orders. The nurse handed me a cup and asked (during a contraction) if I could get a urine sample. I tried but just went back and told her she would have to wait. The contractions were coming one on top of another, there was no way I would be able to get anything into that cup. She told me they were about ready to move me to my L&D room. Since I was no longer hooked up the monitor, I decided to stay standing since swaying helped me through the contractions. I notice some dripping and told the nurse that my water was leaking. A second later - Gush! Water everywhere. The nurse agreed - my water was broken LOL. Then came "The Urge". I yelled at the nurse, "I need to push". She got me back into the bed and suddenly there were 3 more staff members present, along with the resident. The dr looks and sees the head and tell them to start pushing the bed to L&D now. Another nurse helped calm me down and got me breathing though the contractions, (trying to keep me from pushing). So now, I'm being pushed down the hallway to the delivery room by a small crowd of staff members. DH is running along aside of me, looking really pale!

As we roll along, I felt a pop.
    Me: "the head is out!"
Nurse: "no, the baby is still in. You're fine. keep breathing"
Then I feel the body slip out.
    Me: "The body is out!"
Nurse: "No sweetie. Everything's fine. Keep breathing"
As I feel my baby who is "still inside" squirming between my legs, another nurse lifted the bed sheet and confirmed that the baby was indeed out. We arrive to the room that I was supposed to deliver in and we were greeted by the pediatric staff. They immediately attended to DS and allowed DH to cut the cord. While DS was being worked on, another crew worked on me. The dr checked - no major tearing, just minor cuts that didn't require stitching (yay!) A nurse asked me if I wanted to move to a clean bed and that's when I noticed the mess LOL. The bed I was on was covered with fluid. The floor had a big puddle along with a trail out the door (birthing is quite messy). I told her I could wait until the placenta was delivered (why mess up two beds). So after the afterbirth, They cleaned me up and moved me to a new bed where I laid in shock and watched them treat DS. They guessed the time of birth at 1:17 AM. His apgar scores were 9 and 9, and he was crying really well. The ped nurse explained that since he was 34 weeks, they would take him to NICU. They let me hold him for a minute before taking him away. I was bleeding pretty heavily, so an order was giving for pitocin. They tried just a shot (instead of IV), but that wasn't doing the job so then they started an IV. DH left to get the camera and bag out of the car, then went to the NICU to get some pics of our new son.

Here are his stats: Charles Merton, born at 1:17 AM on 3/26. Weight: 5lb7oz Height: 19 inches
    Here are his pics:
when he first arrived to the NICU

    after they got everything attached

on Tuesday, after he was taken off the CPAP

Me holding him for the first time in the NICU Tuesday night

Basically, he has immature lungs. He started out on oxygen, then moved to CPAP, then he was on his own for about 8 hours but was put on a nasal canula (that's what he is on now). We have to wait until his breathing is good and then we can attempt to feed. We were going to try tonight, but the drs decided he needed to wait another day. He's very jaundiced but once he starts getting breastmilk, that should clear up (if it gets too bad before he can start feeding, they'll do the light treatment. So the guess is that he will have to stay 2 weeks.

So my May baby ended up as a March baby.

Thursday 3/22 I wasn't feeling well. I still worked, I worked for a cleaning company and cleaned a house. Went to the grocery store afterwards, went home and around 12:30 in the afternoon my back started hurting. My back always hurts so I thought nothing of it. I took two tylenol laid down in bed with my heating pad trying to get the pain to stop. It was a constant pain. I finally got it to go away at 3:30 just in time to pick up DH from work. Came home felt fine cooked dinner and the back pain started back up at 7:30pm. It was still a constant pain. I even had DH try to crack my back because it hurt so bad. I was in tears cuz it hurt so bad. I had drank so much water during the day that when I smelled my urine it had so smell, so of course I thought my water had broken. I tried to have DH smell my pee but he wouldn't. lol Finally at 11:30-12:00pm DH called my midwife, she told us to go to the hospital. She checked me and I was 3cm dialated. Since I was 31 weeks 3 days along they needed to transfer me to a hospital in Boston. If I was 34 weeks or more I could have stayed in the other hospital. My midwife told me that I had a slight UI so they put me on antibotics. It was 2:30am when I was being transfered to Saint Elizabeth's Hospital. Just in the drive to the other hospital I dialated to 5. They gave me Nubaine (sp) to try to slow things down. I slept from 430ish-830ish I would wake up when my contractions were bad then go right back to sleep. When they checked me at 830-900am I was 8cm. They gave me an epi but for some reason they did a partial spinal, don't ask me why they just did. They didn't give me a lot of the epi DH said it was barely coming out. I don't remember what time they started me on Pitocin, I think it was somewhere around noon time or 1pm maybe. At around noon time I was 9cm. They broke my water at some poiont too but I don't quite remember what time. Being on the pit made my contractions horrible. But things were moving so quickly that the anestesiologist didn't have time to adjust the epi. At 2:25 I told my Dh that I needed to push. He told the nurse, the doctor came in and said "We can't wait (for the pediatrician and the rest of the crew from the NICU) she is 10cm."

Matthew James was born at 2:32pm on 3/23/07
Weighing in at 4lbs 1/2 oz and 16 1/2 inches long
    Minutes after Mathew was born

Saturday when I held him for the first time.

He was on the CPAP for less than a week. It has been off since 3/28 and is doing great without it
    Wednesday without the CPAP

He does have some slight bleeding on the right side of his brain that is a grade2 out of 4. His doctor is gong to monitor it everyweek and she said the long term outcome looks good from it. He is having an ultrasound today to see if there are any changes with it. His white blood count is high which means infection. They didn't know what it was so they asked if they could get some spinal fluid to rule out anything wrong with the brain. That is how they found out he had bleeding on his brain cuz there was some blood in the fluid. They also think he has Meningitis. The doctor doesn't want to say he has it cuz he is progressing so well, acting like a normal baby, and causing trouble (pulling out tubes etc) But she has to say he has it cuz of the numbers. He has been on antibotics since minutes after birth so that has helped with his infection. Matthew's doctor says the outcome from the Meningitis is good since it doesn't really seem like he has it. He did have jaundice and was on phototherapy for only like 2 days. He has apnia which is he forgets to breathe. Tuesday 3/27 he had 13 apnia episodes and his nurse said it is completely normal. Wednesday he had 1 episode and hasn't had any since. Well he has them but he pulls himself out of them so the nurses don't count those cuz he doesn't need to be stimulated to breathe again.

Matthew is the most precious being. I have never felt this way about anything in my life before.

edited to say that when Matthew was born his cord was wrapped around his neck and body.

    Default Elizabeth Arwen's birth story

First off, lets start with the fun stuff. Elizabeth Arwen Rojas was born on Thursday, April 19th at 9:51 am, which was 36 weeks and 1 day gestation. She weighed 6lbs. 2oz. and was 18 3/4 inches tall. She is perfectly healthy!

Ok, here it goes from the beginning! I was sleeping and at about 5:30 am I felt a pop and jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom. I managed somehow, to make it on to the tile floor before I gushed fluid everywhere. Almost immediately, the contractions came on full force. My DH said that we should try to get a little more sleep (that's what our Lamaze coach recommended) because we assumed that it would be hours and hours before she'd be born. Well, I tried to time my contractions, easier said than done by the way! I jumped in the shower where I actually had an easier time focusing and was able to time the contractions and which were about 3 minutes apart and 1:15 in duration. So I jumped back out of the shower and re-awoke DH to tell him that I think that we should go to the hospital. He still kept telling me that we had plenty of time, calm down, blah, blah, blah while he packed his bag. We then had to take the dog over to his mother's house before we could go to the hospital. Of course it is now rush hour traffic so taking the dog and going to the hospital took about an hour. The whole ride I'm on my knees facing the backseat. My back hurt so bad that I couldn't sit right. So, I'm kneeling all weird in the front seat and DH is driving down bicycle lanes and through strip malls like a maniac but somehow we made to the hospital in one piece. DH parked on the curb and took me upstairs to triage then ran back down stairs to legally park the car. Meanwhile, in triage my contractions were so hard and so close (about 1:45 apart, 1 in duration) that I couldn't change into the gown by myself (during all of this I puked a few times). The triage nurse checked me and said that I had to go to a L&D room immediately! They wheeled me down the hall and the L&D nurse told me to start pushing, DH wasn't even back yet!!! So, no pain meds for me Shocked We hadn't called anyone yet with the mindset that we'd be at the hospital for hours so between pushes, DH called our families. Anyhow my mom just made it before she was born! No one else made it before the birth. She was born less than an hour after we arrived at the hospital! She was born sunny side up and the doc said had she been facing down like she was supposed to, she'd probably have been born in the car! I'm not sure if it was due to the speed at which everything happened, the pain, or fluid loss but I went into shock after the birth. I was cold and I couldn't stop shaking so even though she was with us for about an hour after the birth, I really only held her for a second.

She was 5 weeks early and was taken emergency c-sec. I am doing as well as to be expected and so is she. As of right now, she is in the NICU @ LDS hospital but doing VERY WELL. She originally had all sorts of tubes, canulas and IV's for breathing problems. She now as of today has a little Jaundice and under lights for that. She is also breathing on her own, keeping her own body temp and can come home to us as soon as she learns how to eat on her own and not through a tube. We are hoping maybe Tues or weds of this week. All in all she is doing fabulous for all she has been through. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Enjoy the pics and we will keep you all updated. I will also let you know how the events unfolded and the birth story soon. Thanks for all your support ladies...

They checked my cervix and I was the same Ive always been. 2 cm dialated. They were going to send us home but decided not to because of how quick of a labor I had with my DD once I was active. Instead they decided to get us to walk the hospital until 1:30 am. That was fun...NOT! Let me tell you, 2 hours of walking (and snacking LOL) made those contractions unbelievable. They were quite painful and pretty steady. Back upstairs at 1:30 and back on the monitors. Doc came in right away and checked me again. I was at a 3. Again, they thought about sending me home. I was NOT happy. There was no way they were about to send me home having contractions that close together and that painful...especially since we live 25 min from the hospital and who knows what would happen before I could get back. Finally the doc came to his senses (and after talking with the cheif doctor on call) they decided to admit me and start up the IV and Antibiotics (I need them while I labor because of a heart condition I have). I tried and tried to sleep but no luck. The contractions were just at that point where rest wasnt possible. I dont remember at what time, but at some point in the morning, after my MIL arrived at 6 am, they checked me again and I was still at a 3. They then decided to try and break my water. HAHAHA! That was the most painful experience of my life. My cervix was just not ready for that to happen and it was unsuccessful. After that they decided to start up some pitocen to get things going. I labored all day until about 2:30-3 pm when the contractions got to a point where I just could not take it anymore. I had been in labor for 19 hours (started at home with contrax at 8 pm) and my body was so tired. I requested the epi and it came fairy quickly. Right before he put it in I started to cry. I was just terrified of getting the epi and so overwhelmed with all that was happening. It was strange because Ive had one before and loved it. So the epi went in without a hitch, in fact the internal exam before hurt more then the epi did. It worked right away and I was flying high pain free for quite some time. I got checked not too long after and I was 5 cm. Well...I sat at 5 cm for quite some time. From about 3:30 pm until 6pm and no change, I was NOT happy! At 6:30 it felt as if the epi was wearing off because with each contraction I felt this strange "feeling" in my vagina. I wasnt sure if it was pressure because I was still pretty numb but it was something. They checked me and low and behold...STILL at 5 cm. GRRR. Well not more then 15 short min later I looked at the nurse and said in a not so nice voice "listen, the pressure is getting worse and it feels like something is falling out. Get the doc NOW!". Thankfully she was a good nurse and listened. He came in with an irritated look on his face and said "I just checked you 15 min ago". Well, he checked me and guess what, I was fully effaced and 9 1/2 cm. Ha, let me tell you...LISTEN to your body! So I sat for about 20 min with horrible pressure waiting for that last cm. That was definatly the most unbearable part. When you feel pressure like that all you want to do is push but I knew I couldnt yet. Just before 7 pm I was fully dialated and the baby was very low so I was able to start pushing. My epi was running very thin and I was starting to feel it all but too late for more. 40 min and a ton of pain later (ok, it wasnt THAT bad), baby Brooklyn Aaliyah Violante was born sunny side up. She weighed in at 6 lbs 11 ounces, 50 cm long and was crying like a champ. Second labor in a row and I did not tear at all. Trust me, listen to the docs. WHen they tell you not to push, dont. Its hard, but it helps! Brooklyn was born with dirty blonde hair (we still dont know WHERE she gets it from, we all have dark brown hair) and looks alot like her big sister did at birth. She latched on right away and breastfeds like a champion. She is not a crier at all, loves to sleep and hates to be in a dirty diaper. We got discharged today at a day and a half old weighing 6 lbs 4 ounces and she is healthy as an oz. Im doing great, I feel just wonderful. Im so glad to be home and start life with my two little girls. Alexis just LOVES her baby sister, she handled it all soooo well and we are so proud of her. It really made me fall in love with her all over again. Im sure im missing out a bunch but im alittle tired, no sleep in 2 days really does a number on you. Now for the fun part...PICS!!!

Yep.. My little boy is here and it was a whirl wind experience.
Well I was having some problems and symptoms earlier in the week, so I knew he was going to come early, but I had no idea it would be this week… anyway… so on with the story

I worked and got off at 8am… played around the house and then took a nap with Ryan. We woke up from our nap at 1:00. Dh called me to see how I was doing at 1:19 I was doing great and told him no problems. Then I had a pain.. (The first pain) Well 15 minutes later I called DH, but only to tell him to make sure he answers the phone if I called him. (Sometimes he is busy and does not answers my call and just calls me back) He said, NO if you are calling to tell me that, then I will just come home… we argued for a few minutes about this and he ended up coming home.. He was home in about 10 minutes, when he got here, the pain was more, and coming and going for this I was sure of.. but It didn’t seem real yet to me. So I wanted to wait and didn’t want to do anything about it unless it was real. Well I went to the bathroom and was in there for a few minutes and by the time I came back out I told DH nope this is something and call the dr. So he calls the dr, but after his conversation of tons of stuff that was not important the receptionist says to come in to the office.. so we get Ryan ready to go and head out the door. The office is only 1 block away from the hospital so no big deal on that. But half way to the office I tell DH to call them back and tell them that I think we need to go to the hospital.. So we head to the hospital. We get there, get signed in and wheeled back. They didn’t think I was in real labor or anything. So they moved pretty slow.. until they checked me for the first time and I was completely dilated…(however they were not sure what they were feeling. The head? The bag of water? Hands?) They all started moving pretty darn fast this time… and wanting my dr there now. They got me to the labor and delivery and doing all sorts of things, prepping the room and such. When the dr showed up they told him I was complete and he checked me and said, guys that is not a head, we got feet moving and an umbilical cord.. we need to go in for a C-section now. He told me that the umbilical cord and the feet are right there and if the water break the feet and umbilical will come out really fast and the umbilical cord can get pinched off and suffocate the baby. So we need to go do a C-section real fast.. and there is no time for and epidural so we will need to put out for this… so they are wheeling me down the hallways and hitting the walls and knocking things off the walls. The dr is on the phone yelling at someone about getting anesthesia there right now… they all are talking to me and wanting me to do all these things.. Remember I was in labor and was in pain pretty bad at this time. Well they end up strapping my legs and arms down on the small metal table. Then finally the anesthesiologist showed up and put the mask on me. Well I thought that it had the knock out medicine in it so I am trying to breath it in really fast.. she told me to slow down, then all of a sudden my water breaks I am freaking out now.. from what the dr told me. I have a mask on my face. My legs are strapped down and covered up with blue paper. The anesthesiologist is the only one that can see me yelling and tells me its okay.. but I knew she was not there for the conversation about my water breaking and how that is a bad thing, so I am freaked out and then all of a sudden I smell the gas and am out. When I wake up, I am in so much pain. I can not believe how much pain I am feeling.. They said they just gave me some pain medicine but it is normal for a emergency c-section because you don’t get numbed so you feel the pain after you wake up. DH is not there and the baby is not there and I am freaking out crying asking for them. Tyler was born at 2:59pm. (Only 1 hour and 42 minutes after my first contraction) I spent almost 2 hours in the recovery room, DH came in there for a little bit showed me a couple pics on his camera phone.. By the way we had no camera. Finally I get to back to the room that I stayed in and they brought Tyler to us about 1 hour later. He looks nothing like what I thought he would and he is so so small. He is doing great and bf very well.
I did have an episode of very extreme PPD or reaction to drugs Friday morning and that was very stressful and scary, but got it under control and stopped taking all the pain killers that I was on and already are on medication for PPD, so I am glad about that.

OK, finally have a couple minutes to share my birth story!

Went in Thursday, April 19th, for induction bcs of my high blood pressure. I was 38 weeks and full term. My dr inserted the gel to ripen the cervix around 11:45 a.m. -- I was totally closed, no progress whatsoever. She was going to check on me at 4 and then do another round of gel. At 4, I was having enough contractions to keep her from postponing the gel. By 9 p.m., she went ahead and did another round of gel which really started the contractions every 4-6 min. At 3 a.m., I couldn't sleep bcs every time I was about asleep, a contraction would hit and I had to breathe through it. The nurse gave me Ambien to help me sleep.

At 6 a.m. on Friday, my dr came in and said I was only a fingertip dilated. I could either go home and wait it out or stay...the choice was up to me. I was in too much discomfort to go home. But, I was ready to go home and just let nature happen. But something inside said to stay. I keep thinking if we hadn't stayed, Matthew may not be here with us as his cord had separated sometime during L&D. Anyway, they let me contract a bit more before giving me pitocin. Around 11:30 on Friday a.m., I was in a lot of pain ... but thought it was good bcs it meant progress. At 12:30, I was begging for an epidural bcs the pain was too much. The nurse had to find the doctor to ok it bcs I was only 1 cm dilated. They gave me stadol to take the edge off until I got the epi -- and never again! I was soooo loopy! Am still hearing about comments I made and things I did while on that ... I remember being totally spaced out and exhausted.

The epi was a welcome relief. But, I thought it didn't work bcs I felt EVERYTHING in my tailbone -- I knew when a contraction started and ended bcs my tailbone increased/decreased w/pain. I had a big tailbone injury 4 yrs ago and it's been causing trouble during this pregnancy--was sooo weird that I felt labor there! Around 3, I asked the nurse about when to push bcs I felt like I had to totally poop and wondered if that could mean I was ready to deliver. They check and I had jumped from 1 to 8 in a matter of hours. A couple minutes later, I had to push ... I did 2 sessions of 3 pushes when we discovered the baby's heartbeat would drop to 76, 87, etc. When I stopped pushing, it'd raise back up to 118, 120, etc. So, the nurse went to find the doctor and the doctor was baffled. I pushed again and the same thing. The next thing I knew, she said she had to give me an episiotomy bcs she needed to vacuum him out of there quickly. So, I pushed again and the baby came out! Apparently, the umbilical cord had separated from the placenta and Matthew didn't really have a cord -- he had enough for DH to do the cermonial cut, though! I got a lot of stitches -- the dr equated it with a 2 1/2 degree tear -- ouch!!

Matthew was born at 3:38 p.m. and weighed 5 lbs 9 oz. Generally, the baby is checked in the room after the mom and dad and family get to see him. But L&D suddenly booked up and they were waiting for my room. We got to see Matthew for about 15 min and then they took him and DH down to the nursery. He has a set of lungs and got nicknamed the "wild child" by the nursery nurse! He cried from the time he came out to the time we got him. Once he was in our arms, he was ok! Overheard a nurse say that there were 20 moms in the mother-baby unit while I was there!

My mom said the L&D nurses were talking about how well my BP held up during L&D--everyone was surprised, incl. me. The 48 hrs after delivery, my BP started returning to "normal" was told I could go off my BP medicine! I seriously think that my labor was average -- it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. Once I saw Matthew, it was all worth it! He's sooooo tiny and so perfect! I'd do it all over again just for him (but thankfully I don't)! Matthew passed all of his tests. He left the hospital with jaundice and it's gotten worse ... had to get a BiliBlanket today to keep on him until everything balances out! So, it was nice to get out of the house today for a little while! It was the neatest thing hearing the nurse call our son's name today for him to go see the doctor! I loved the sound of it and DH and I were the proudest parents ever!!

    Isabella Angelique is here

She arrived Monday, April 23, 2007 at 10:58 pm.

I didnt expect things to go the way they did but they did..

I woke up Monday morning and got everything together. I had packed her bag and mine the week before but I was running around the house trying to get all organized for my mom because she stayed with my boys while me and dh were at the hospital.

I had to be at the hopsital at 9am and was running late because dh wanted to shave at the last minute. Argghhh!! Anyways, we finally left the house at 8:55 and got to the hospital a little past 9:20.

The nurse put me in an assesment room and Im thinking to myself, 'ok, if Im going to be induced, why am I in the room?
The nurse came in and said I wouldnt have packed your bags just yet, me and dh asked why and she said because your just getting gel on your cervix then your going home.
I told her my doctor told me he was inducing today. Come to find out my doctor didnt explain it to well. Me and dh were so mad! After being mad as heck and waiting my doctor decides to show up at 11am. He comes in and checks me first. Im a fingertip dialated. He then explains to me that he was going to gel me, monitor for a little after and sendd me home. Then he told me I was to come back tomorrow morning and if the gel dialated my cervix to a 2-3, he would admit me and start pitocin. BUT..If my cervix didnt start to open, I would have to be geled again.
So he gels me and monitors me and baby for 40 mins. I was crampy after he did it but nothing to much.
As soon as we were discharged I started to feel crampy in my back big time and ha a hard time walking.
Me and hubby decided to go eat. So we went and ate some chicken, rice and beans and as soon as we got to the resturant I started getting back contractions. I was like, hmmm, just from the gel making me uncomfortable. Aftr about 40 mins of back contractions coming every 5-7 mins. I started to wonder what was going on and there was no denying now I was having contractions.

They were quite painful and got worse when I stood up or walked.
Dh and me went home, my mom was here watching my little one and my nephew at my house and dh decided to go to his second job since he took off his first job for no reason. He works as a barber on the side.

So he leaves and Im sitting at home still having contractions. Its now 2 oclock and they started at around 12:20 that afternoon.
3 rolls around and they hurt BAD and they were still 5-7 mins. apart. I didnt know what to do because I thought maybe it was because I got geled, alot of people DONT go into labor off the bat from that and I thought it was impossible that it put me into labor.

They hurt and I thought it wouldnt hurt to call so I did. My midwife told me to go back to the hospital.
Called dh to come get me and we got to the hospital around 3:30..

They put me in a room this time and checked me and hooked me up. Sure enough I was having contrax. The nurse checked me and couldnt find my cervix because it was so far up. It hurt so bad!!!!!!!!!!!
Then another nurse came in and drilled her darn fingers in me sooo far and finally reached it. I was 1-2. Arghhh! I thought to myself all this pain and Im only 1-2?
She came back in the room after talking to my doctor and told me that he wanted to 'observe' me for 2 hours and walk around then after 2 check me again. Well it took the baby 2 hours to cooperate on the monitors and by the time she woke up, 2 hours had passed I didnt walk at all.
Nurse comes in to check me, Im still the same. I w as so frustrated with everything at this point.
She calls my doctor and he admits me and wants to start pitocin.
The nurse trys to start an IV and blows the whole right side of my hand up. My BP was up some and I was in so much pain. I had back labor the entire time.
The other nurse draws a jacuzzi tub for me I stayed in for about 10 mins. This made my contrax even stronger. I was crying they hurt so bad and I never cried with labor before I got my epiural with both sons. I always managed to get through the pain without being a 'baby' about it.
I get out and the night shift nurse comes in starts my pitocin and calls the anesteiologist.
This was yet another HORRIBLE experience because my contrax were so close at this point. This happened around 8o'clock-ish at night. Although, 20 mins after I got my epidural the anestesiolgist was my new best friend. I was so relived. I finally started to relax and enjoy somewhat of this whole labor experience.
At around 9ish, my doctor came in and finally checked me (I wasnt checked since 6 ish and was only 2) he pulled the hook out to break my water and told me I was 8 and that in an hour I would start pushing. I thought to myself, its gonna be quicker then that. I started feeling the pain in my front left side. It was real bad. I went from side to side to see if that would relieve it and it didnt. My nurse wanted to cath me to see if that made the difference and when she went to do so she said well we cant do that because baby is right here..At this point it was like 10:30. I was in so much pain on m y left side and thought to myself, how am I gonna do this.
Well I did it because after 20 mins of pushing Isabella was born.. She was 6.13 pounds and 18 inches. I thought she would be bigger, everyone did, but shes a little thing and so tiny. Im scared to touch her because my boys were both pver 8 1/2 pounds.
But shes here and everyone thinks she such a doll., Her brothers love her especiall Tony. Joey is a little jealous but hes managing to do well.
