Michelle!!! What beautiful pictures!!!
Baby Marshall is SO precious. I love the pic of you holding him and looking down at him.
Sending big (((hugs))) your way. Thank you for sharing.
Kristi! I'm so glad you popped in to see my lodge
I have my birth story started. It's going to be long but I want to save it for myself too so I'm writing it thoroughly. I'm happy with the birth that we had and I don't want to forget the details.. well, maybe I want to forget the pain but that's already started to happen.
Things are still going really well. Marshall seems to only want me today, and not just me but my boobs. I cannot believe how much he is nursing. I'm looking forward to talking to the mw tomorrow because I'm almost concerned. He is sleeping now but I know we'll be sleeping together all night because he only goes like 20 mins between feeds and stays on for what seems like hours. I have time to have a snack and a drink, go pee etc. and then he's awake again and rooting. I can hear him swallowing and my milk is in (I tried pumping to make sure). I've seen milk on his lips after he finally pulls off.. He's pooping and peeing. He HAS to be comfort nursing a lot of the time. As long as he is okay, I'm fine with that. My family members insist he has a pain and try to burp him etc. to no avail and then I take him back and he nurses. I start to get upset when they insist that "he can't be hungry again". Well he is! So give him back to me - he's crying!
I'm going to put him in his basinette now while he's sleeping so I can get some serious sleep in for as long as possible until the feeding starts again. I sometimes wake up while nursing him and think he's not breathing and I jolt him back and then he stretches and is cute and I relax again.. I guess that's normal but it's not a nice way to wake up. He's really super strong so I have to remind myself that he can push away from the breast no problem and does. I'm still totally aware of him beside me as if I were still protecting my belly.
If anyone else has had a 4 day old constantly feed, any advice or support is welcomed or advice or experience with the side lying and nursing while sleeping. His latch is terrific and I'm not in pain.. I'm just nervous sleeping while he feeds.. even though I love it.
Bonding is terrific. I cry when I look at him because I just love him so much.
Congrats on your baby! Your homebirth looked wonderful!
Hi Michelle--that sounds like Max in the beginning--he nursed all the time. I went to bfing support group once a week to get him weighed and they told me that many times nursing babies gain more weight initially and it sounds like he is nursing just fine but a lot. If he is nursing that long I would think he is getting the "hind" milk. Right now it is comfort for him too so I wouldn't be worried. In a week or so if you feel his latch is established you could try a pacifier.
Hope this helps!
The mw weighed him yesterday.. he gained 7oz in 2 days and is already an oz more than his birth weight! That was reassuring.. All of that nursing isn't for nothing.
He is growing and is liking mommy's milk...
That picture of Marshall is just precious!!!!!!!!!!!
What amazing pictures!!!
Wow! Congratulations Michelle! He is so adorable, and thank you so much for sharing the pictures. I love the ones with you and Jeff - you look so close and connected, they are fantastic.
And what a great BF-ing mama! Things sound like they are going just as they should.
You go girl! He's a "boob man!" Hang in there....all the nursing will be worth it;-) I hope you are getting some rest and some nourishment!
