How nice that you get some time with DH before the baby! Enjoy it!
I am enjoying my time with DH, but we are both anxious to meet our little girl.
I feel like I am going to be pregnant forever, my body is not showing any signs of labor. To make matters worse, my girlfriend who is not quite 36 weeks went into labor this morning. I feel like a horrible person because I am jealous! Of course, I want her and baby to be healthy... but she is due a month after me...it just seems cruel!
Oh well, this is my first lesson in parenthood... Patience. (I may not get a passing grade=)!
Right now I'd be jealous of anyone around me going into labor too! Hang in there, it can't be long now!
Rita, you are so cute! TFS that pic!
Have you tried DTD to help baby get going?
Rita - I can understand your feeling of wanting to have your baby before your friend's it does seem unfair!
Sorry you are not having many labor signs yet - but who knows - maybe you have some, but they just aren't adding up quite yet???
I like Jodi's thought - perhaps things are going on, you just don't know it! Hang in there mama!
Well, I'm not sure if it is going to make a difference or not, but I tried the castor oil last night. It hasn't been that bad. I just woke up a few times and had to go to the bathroom, but nothing miserable. And I am having contractions, but they are the same as I have had in the past, and they have always faded away on me. So I guess the big test is whether they stick around or not.
In other news, my friend had her little girl! She was 5lb 8oz, but very healthy. If I'm still around, I am going to go see her in the hospital later on today and visit for a bit. Maybe I just need to hang out in the labor ward for my body to figure out what it's supposed to be doing!
I just got caught up on your lodge and I am really thrilled for you and your DH. Thanks for sharing your story with us. How wonderful is it that you are going to meet your much awaited and loved little girl so soon?
My contractions got to be 5 minutes apart for over an hour this morning, but nothing terribly painful, just uncomfortable. So I decided to lay down and take a nap, and they habe pretty much disappeared...
I really don't want to be going to a 40 mw appt tomorrow, but it looks like I will be.
Hi, Rita!! I certainly know how you feel... I've got to the point where I try really hard to ignore contractions and not time them... but every once in a while I start thinking they seem close together and I can't resist the temptation to glance at the clock with each one. I guess someday it has to be the real thing...
Hope your midwife appointment tomorrow gives you some reason for optimism!
oh, Rita, your baby is almost here I know it is so hard to wait, but yiu are doing great!
Hey Rita, thinking of you lots. Hoping you are either more comfortable or things are intensifying.
Thanks Wendy and Melissa! Well, it's early morning, and of course I am awake with contractions! But they are stronger than they have ever been, so that is a good sign. I am going to time them until the office opens up.
I can't help but worry though. These really are not that painful... I would feel silly going to the hospital at this point. So my worry is that my body is just stuck in some kind of false labor pattern, and these are nothing compared to the "real" contractions I will get later on and I am building up a false confidence about dealing with labor... if my rambling even makes sense. LOL!
Plus, I don't think I am ready to tell DH to stay home from work. Especially since this has happened once already this week and turned out to be nothing. So hopefully in the next few hours these contractions kick up a notch or two! I will keep you posted
Sounds like your body is really trying to do this labor thing.... I know that it is hard to wait for it, but these contractions are really doing something and very soon you will be for sure having regular contrax and your baby girl will be here. :bighug:
I'll be thinking of you and hoping your contractions stay for you!
That is good to hear Rita! Sounds like things are moving in the right direction. I have no idea how strong contractions start out, but if they are stronger than you've had, that sounds positive. Here is hoping they kick it up a notch for ya
I talked to the MW this morning. she said everything sounded good, to try and relax and go about my day, but to call her when "I was miserable"! LOL! I really love the approach of this group!
So I have been home all day. I took a nap this morning, and when I woke up, the contractions were still happening! So then I took my dogs for a walk, weeded the garden and I have done some laundry. My girlfriend brought over some lunch and we hung out for a little bit. She just delivered her son with the same MW group six months ago, so it was great talking to her about what was happening. She thinks I will have a baby in the next 24 hours, I hope so!
I am trying to sit for an hour and time the contractions again, but they are definitely getting stronger. Nothing that takes my breath away, but definitely more real.
I will keep you posted!
*Edited to add*
I forgot to mention that I have still been checking my cervix. And although I don't think it is dilated much past two centimeters, it has definitely effaced. I wouldn't know the percentage, but it seems to be only half as long as it has been the past few weeks!
Sounds like things are starting to get moving! I'm so excited for you ((((ELV))))
Ohhhh... it is so exciting, things really seem to be happening for you. My m/w has the same "call me when you can't stand it anymore" approach. I find her attitude so nice and relaxing.
Wow, that is awesome Rita!! I am so glad to hear that "things seem to be moving". Sounds like your body is preparing, I am excited!!
I'm pretty sure this is it. I have been getting stronger contractions, they are lasting 60 to 90 seconds!
I am going to call my MW at 8 and talk to her, but I expect to go into the hospital sometime this morning. Please send easy labor vibes!!
Good Luck Rita!!
Congrats on this picking up Rita! I bet you are heading to the hospital about now
I can't wait to hear how your labor goes and see that beautiful baby! This is so exciting!!!! Take care
Oh yay Rita!!!!! Sending you many, many easy labour vibes
You're probably already at the hospital--maybe already had your baby by the time I post this!! But
If you aren't there yet and you see this before you leave... with my daughter, my contractions never did get painful. I was on my feet up until the final 8 minutes or so, and it was probably only the last 10 contractions where it started to get painful and I had a harder time making it through them. Just one push and she popped all the way out!
I don't expect to be so lucky this time, though, don't want to get my hopes up too much. But don't worry, they really might not get worse until the end.
Good luck Rita Sending lots of ELV your way. KUP
good luck Rita!
Wow, good luck!
I bet baby is here already! I hope things went well Rita! Looking forward to your news!!!!
Can't wait to hear how things went today! I hope baby is here!
congrats! sounds like things are defenitely progressing, I'm sure baby is already here!!
Just a quick update.....
Unfortunately, there is no baby yet. I am apparently having prodromal labor and I have contractions every 3 to 10 minutes, I am 5cm and 80% effaced and my body is stuck. This is my third morning of laboring at home with constant contractions, and although I am beginning to get very frustrated, I really still want to try and have a natural birth.
I just spoke with the MW, and we agreed that we would try cervidel on Sunday night if nothing has happened yet. I am going to do castor oil again, continue to take the black and blue cohosh, and try to take walks as often as I can. But I am getting pretty tired physically, so I'm not sure how many walks I can pull off.
I am trying to stay positive, but it s hard when I feel like all the hard work of the contractions is going nowhere.
Sorry I won't be able to read the other lodges, but good luck to all the other ladies, I can't wait to catch up once this is all done.
Oh, that sounds tough!!! Is the baby facing the right way? I know my midwife mentioned that if I'd started labor while Xander was still posterior, I could have painful contractions for many many hours while my uterus tried to turn him, but once he turned I'd probably have a break (possibly as long as several hours) before the next stage of contractions started. Just thought I'd mention it...
Certainly don't worry about catching up on the other lodges, focus on your own world right now!!! Our posts will still be here waiting when you get back!
:bighug: I hope you can get some rest before things kick into high gear. Hang in there!
Thinking of you this morning and I'm hoping we're going to get some news soon!
I hope everything's going well and you're enjoying time with your LO!!!
Thinking of you! I hope all is well!
