Yay! I am so excited. I feel like I lurk all the time and did not even think about getting a lodge! This is so exciting. I guess a little about me!
Well, I am Stacy and DH is Greg. I am still working full time. I work with adults who have chronic mental illnesses. I am the assistant program director of a bunch of group homes and I have done it for about 4 1/2 years and I love it!
This is our second pregnancy. We had a miscarriage right before we got pregnant with this baby. I am so excited about this baby! And so excited about a natural birth.
It is sort of funny since before I got pregnant, I always said that I wanted drugs ASAP. After lurking here for awhile, I changed my mind. Luckily, DH is on board with whatever I think is best, I am actually hoping my next baby will be a home-birth, but that was a little much for DH this time.
My friends think it is a little strange that I plan on having a natural birth but have actually been supportive. And my OB is great, we talked a couple months ago about the natural birth and she said she is fine with whatever I want. I am going to review my birth plan with her this Thursday at my appointment.
I saw my OB last week for my 37 week appt. All my bloodwork came back normal (I was not worried but it is always nice to know). She listened to the baby on the doppler and asked if I wanted to be checked internally. I didn't want to, so it was a pretty short appt.
Goals for this weekend are to pack a bag and go to mom's to get her CD player so I have my hypnobabies CDs with me at the hospital.
Thanks for reading this far!

So we started working on the bag for the hospital. And we went to target and got a cute plastic 3 drawer container to put our cloth diapers in. And so those are all organized now (YAY!).
And I got some more stuff organized in the baby's room.
I also talked to my sister about hypnobabies (since she is another person to be in the room when I give birth). I am going to email her more info on it, so she can be on the same page as us.
And DH and I finalized the birth plan, so I will make copies of that at work tomorrow and put that in the bag as well as copies of signs to put on the hospital door.
I love getting things done!

Yuck, I think I have the flu. I woke up dizzy and feeling sick. I have thrown up 3 times (TMI, I know). I just called into work and am trying to see if I can keep down some water. Just feeling yucky.

Good luck with the Hypnobabies! I am using it too! Are you following along with the schedule in the book? I got a little off track and now use whichever one I seem to need that day!

Yep, I am following the schedule. I started it late, and am doing week 5 this week. I love the pregancy affirmations, I listen to it all night.

I am feeling so much better than I was this morning. I think I may have needed rest and lots of fluids. It was like I had a weird flu bug.

Ugg...So last night I listened to my fear release CD and fell asleep during it. I had nightmares all night (well, the little bit that I was able to sleep). And now I just feel really weird and anxious about the birth. I am not sure what happened. I tried to listen to my pregnancy affirmation CD this morning and it just is not relaxing me. I do not know what is going on. I just feel this sense of panic right now. Sad
I think I am going to scan the web for some positive hypnobabies birth stories. Maybe that will help.

Oh, so glad you are feeling better. You know I had a pretty bad reaction to the Fear Release session too.

I had some energy work done from my chiropractor and that's what helped me. I love positive birth stories.

Have you read all the ones at http://www.pregnancybirthandbabies.com/

Glad that you are doing well! I am so excited for you! I wish that I would have checked into Hypnobabies sooner. I am going to a hypnotherapist though.

Yeah I think I just need to not do the fear release again. I am fine now. Yep, that is actually the site that I went to read the stories. It makes me so happy to read them.

I woke up this morning in a really good mood. I am really excited about getting to 40 weeks. Noone I know thinks that I am going to (except for DH who is expecting me to go to 41w1d since that is what hypnobabies suggest), and now I want to, just to prove everyone wrong (I know it is better for baby, but the idea of proving people wrong makes me laugh, is that a bad thing?)

The only thing that is hard is that I am still working full-time. And I am hoping to until I have the baby. So the whole not sleeping thing (I should be asleep now) is tough. But it will be okay

I was getting ready for my doctor's appointment and saw myself in the mirror...and I realized-
I LOVE MY BELLY!!!
It is so cute and just amazing! I love it! Really, I think that I look amazing. It is okay that when people see me, they think I am huge and ask if there is more than 1 in there. After seeing myself this morning all naked in front of the mirror- I look amazing!

So I have not packed a bag yet for the hospital. I keep thinking that I should, but I really feel like I still have a few weeks. I just don't think she will be here by the "due date" and so I can't seem to motivate myself to do it. And I need lots of the stuff on a daily basis. And I am hoping to labor at home for a long time, so I am sure I will have time to pack everything up.

I felt the exact same way about not needing to get ready or pack a bag. I felt for sure that she would come on her due date or that if she same earlier, I could pack while I labored...Ooops! I was off work at 37 wks 3 days, thinking I had at least one week to prepare...gave birth at 37 wks 5 days...and in only 4 hrs, so packing during labor was out too!

At least make a list for your DH, so he can pack for you in case of emergency. Biggrin

Hmm Karly...maybe I do need to make a list for DH.
We have the portable CD player and batteries packed since we know we will need to grab the hypnobabies CD. And we have an outfit or 2 for her packed. I guess I will make a list for DH tomorrow and print it when I get to work.
Kristen- you should definetly look into hypnobabies! I love it so far!

Stacy-
It's fun to hear about your journey. I, too, bought the hypnobabies course, but haven't dug into it yet. I'm sorry you had difficulty with the fear release session but I appreciate having the chance to hear your experience with it so that when/if I do it I won't be surprised if I have some difficulty! Like you, I'm hoping to work right up until the big moment...I think if I'm off work I'll start to feel impatient!

It's so funny that you say this...over the weekend two men in my neighborhood made comments that *could* be taken hard by someone who isn't feeling self-confident...one said "Hey Chubs" and the other said the typical, "You sure you don't have 2 in there?". I love how I look...I think my belly is beautiful and that pregnancy overall is sexy so I didn't feel any ill will about the comments...good for you for taking the time to notice how beautiful you and your belly are;-)

You sound great Stacey! I know what you mean about the belly. I'm loving mine right now. Everytime I see myself in the mirror it's a bit of a shock, but I still can't help but rub it and appreciate it. I know I'll miss it when it's gone.
Are you still feeling pretty good physically? I don't know if I could still be working right now. You get some credit for that for sure. Hope the next two weeks fly by for you...and me!

Well other than today I have been okay. LOL
I am feeling emotional today. I work with adults who have mental illness and just found out that a bunch of them are drinking when staff leaves at 5pm! So that is tough to deal with right now.
But I figure I am allowed to have some emotional days here and there. I told my boss, co-worker and the people that I work for that it is an emotional day, so they are all prepared.

So I had an u/s today to measure the size of the baby. She is measuring about 8 pounds 7 ounces (give or take a pound either way- hello, that is huge variability). Anyway it was nice to see her again. I have an appt with my OB tomorrow. I can't decide if I want her to check me since I don't think I am dilated at all since I am not contracting really. I will see if curiousity gets the better of me or not. If not this week, then I will probably have her check me next week at my 40 week appt. I have started drinking some red raspberry leaf tea because I read that it can help tone uterus which seems like a good thing for delivery. Not sure if there is anything else that I could be doing.
And I am still working- every day that I come in, the staff and residents are so surprised, so it is like a bonus everyday that I am there (which is cute).

Actually a pound is a low estimate - Sam was estimated to be over 8 and she was 6 pounds 12 ounces. Ultrasound measuring might be less scientific than meteorology Lol

I'm glad you're doing so well!

They told me that my first son was hovering 'around four pounds' three days before he was born, weighing in at 6lbs 4ozs (he was 36 weeks exactly at birth).

With my second son, u/s tech said 'well over 9 pounds' when they had to check his positioning during labor... the TECH was pushing for a section due to size. He was 7lbs 15 ozs.

But the BEST was when they did the BPP for my daughter, two days before she was born. She weighed 7lbs 15ozs, just like ds#2, but the BPP predicted 'a BIG baby... definitely around ten pounds, maybe more..."

So, yeah, based on my experience u/s size prediction is a guessing game. All three times, my docs predicted a more accurate weight based on palpitating my belly. Including the resident that ended up catching dd... he looked at the chart, then re palp'ed my belly, shook his head and said, 'that's crazy, this baby is less than eight pounds!' He was right!

Hey Stacy! Wow - over a pound off in each direction... can't place much stock in that. I still love the adage that I someone else here used - your body won't grow a baby that you can't handle. I love the peace that gives me.

And good for you still working! Wow, that is awesome!

Well I had my 39 week appt (according to my doc, who has my dates a couple days ahead of mine). She told me that it can be off by about 20 ounces which seems so silly to even bother with. Doc asked if I wanted to be induced. I told her that I was fine with waiting for baby. She also asked if I wanted to be checked internally. Since I am not having anything going on, I did not see the point, so I told her that I wasn't that interested. She said that next week she will want to check and hook me up to the NST just to make sure baby is still happy. Since she said it only needed to be for about 15 minutes, I am okay with that. I am sure baby will be fine.
The other thing is that whenever I dream about the baby's birth I always have the date of April 28 in my mind. I am not sure why, and when I visualize it when away I aim for my date of May 6.
So we will see. I am just excited that I turned down the induction. This week has been a little harder but I am glad that I stuck to what I want (I am sure it helped that my doc did not push it at all, she knows I really want baby to come naturally and when she is ready). So that is my update for today (and I really need to go do some more work)

Good for you about turning down the induction! I'm sure it can get tempting near the end. And it sounds like you have a good doctor on board.

I am so excited. I emailed my sister a bunch of hypnobabies info since she will be there with me, DH and mom when baby is born. She just got through it all and sent me an email that she is so excited! She said the info seems wonderful and she can't wait. She thinks that she will do it too whenever she has kids. YAY! Now my mom just has to finish going over the material and we are good to go!

So I am definetly starting to get antsy for baby to come out. Today we took a long walk, and DTD. I am also drinking RRL tea and using evening primrose caps.
Sigh, I guess she is just not ready to come out. Anyone have any other suggestions of things that I could do?

LOL, sounds like you are pulling out all the stops! I think you are right, that she will come out when she is ready...however, my DH did tell DD that she should come out, as she had "overstayed her welcome" and she was born the next morning...She has been daddy's girl from the start! Maybe your DH could have a little heart-to-heart with her. Biggrin

So I had DH talk to her last night. And we DTD again. Ate some pineapple. I am finally loosing a little mucus plug (which I know does not mean anything, but still makes me happy). And I am a little crampy. I can't decide if I want to go to work today or if I want to stay home and clean...

So I went to work yesterday. And could not sleep last night. I had a dream last night that I lost the rest of my mucus plug and somehow knew that I would have her that day. So I woke up this morning and lost the rest of my mucus plug. And am feeling crampy. And want to cry. And am at work. And my internet is down at home.
Oy!

Edited to say home not work. I only have internet at work right now.
