Oh wow:eek: I didn't expect a lodge!!!!!!!!!!!! Yippeee!!!!!!! I'm so excited.
Gee, I'll have to get my sh*t together and write an intro! Thanks everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;)
Welcome to the homestretch! Looking forward to following your journey!
I will be stalking you here too Lisa! You're getting so close
Congratulations on your lodge!
I can't tell you how excited I am about being able to birth naturally. Up until a few weeks ago, my baby was breech and the "c" word was being threatened. But luckily, the baby has turned and it's a go.:D
My DH and I met in 1999. I was a veterinarian and he was a veterinary technician. I am 5 years older than my DH. And yes, I freely admit that I abused my power as a vet to make sure we had similar schedules, etc;) To be honest, it was an instant and mutual attraction. We tried to hide it from our co-workers, although many had their suspicions. We had been dating for several months, when we got busted eating dinner out together by my boss.
In 2001, my DH got accepted to vet school in London England. We moved there just before 9/11 happened. I had always assumed England was like "little America". I suffered severe culture shock and actually moved home for 9 months. It was really hard on both of us and our relationship. But true love does/did prevail and in Oct of 2002, I moved back to England, adjusted to a new way of life and made the commitment to our life together. In 2003, Dan proposed. We were married on Sept. 18, 2004. Up until meeting Dan, I had actually never wanted children. That instantly changed as soon as we were together. I guess I just needed to find the right person to make me see that.
After only one month of "trying", I found myself pregnant.:D My pregnancy was fantastic. I did have morning sickness, but no other problems. I had been planning a natural birth, but was definitely not armed with the knowledge that I have now. Into my 36th week, it was discovered that DS was breech. I was pretty devestated and began scrambling for ways to turn the baby. I started seeing an acupuncturist and doing all the exercises. I was scheduled for a version on June 19, but my water broke on June 17 and I started in labor. I went to the hospital and was about 3-4 cm dilated. This is where I get a little angry. If only I had the knowledge I do now. I was told that because my baby was an extended (frank) breech, there was no way that he could be delivered vaginally. I now know that actually this is the BEST breech presentation for vaginally delivery. I consented to a c-section. My time after my c-section was the worst time in my entire life. I suffered severe PPD. At the time, my DH was studying and taking his final exams, we were trying to sell our house to move back to the states, we were packing everything and trying to sell off everything in order to move back to the States, I was recovering from the c-section, BF was not going well (I got severely cracked/bleeding nipples), and my father, who was visiting the UK with my mother to help with the baby, fell deathly ill and was hospitalized for 10 days. Needless to say I tie all those elements into my entire birth experience.
Fast forward to now. I am armed with knowledge and most importantly strength to follow through with my natural birth plan. My DH is on board and I have found an amazing and supportive MW here. I am not selling my house or moving across the Atlantic. I have avenues in place if PPD does rear its ugly head again. This baby was breech up until a few weeks ago, but thanks to a wonderful chiropractor, it is now head down and ready to go. I am so looking forward to this journey and what it will bring. I can't wait to share it with you all as well.
Thanks so much for all your support. I appreciate it so much.

Yay Lisa! I have so much faith in your strength, I know you are going to be amazing!
I loved reading your intro and how cool is it to have so many July '06 mamas following you?!
I'm wondering how you're preparing Toby for the arrival? Where will he be for the birth?
It's really hard to get Toby ready for the baby. I think that he really isn't developmentally ready to understand about a new baby brother/sister. He calls my bump baby. We have read lots of books about new baby brothers/sisters, but I don't really think conceptually he is "there". IFYKWIM??
He will be at home for the birth. I have to have a hospital birth. Our insurance doesn't cover home birth. My MIL will watch him. I am wishing more and more that I didn't have to go to a hospital.
Great intro Lisa! I'm so happy to follow your journey. It sounds like you are doing great. I too don't think Parker understands about the baby, he says baby and kisses my belly and likes little babies when we see them, but I think he has no clue about the baby coming to live with us! He is such a mama's boy too, so I really worry about that.
I wish you all the best for your VBAC!! And I look forward to following your lodge Congrats!
I think they understand more then we think they do. Eathan was 2y 3m when Addie was born. He called my tummy sister and we read books. The day she was born he became in instant big brother. He is so in love with her and her with him. They are the best of friends and he is so protective of her. Wherever she is, he is. If he can't see her right away he asks where she is. If she cries he will shhhh her and try to comfort her till I get there. It's amazing. I was so worried about it too.
That's great to know! Thanks!
I think they understand more than we think as well. Although Hunter just lifted up my shirt the other day and patted my very loose skinned post partum belly and gave it a kiss lol. He hasn't done that since before Adelle was born so I thought he understood that the baby wasn't there anymore - who knows what he thinks! Toby being older than where Hunter was, will probably clue in better - especially once the baby gets here.
Hi and welcome to your lodge- I look forward to hearing all about your natural birth! I hope the PPD satay away this time too.
I had a great MW appointment today. I've only gained a pound. My blood pressure was 106/60. Urine negative. Baby still head down, but in a posterior position. I've been working on trying to turn it. I guess I need to be on my birth ball a little bit more than I have been:rolleyes:
My concerns are that if my waters break early like they did last time that I'll be "on the clock" and headed for c-section land. But my MW assured me that this was NOT the case with her and no one could make me do something that I didn't want to do. She also said that she has delivered babies where the waters have been broken for over a week (not that she recommended it), but it has happened. She just said they would monitor me closely with temps, etc. She also said that she doesn't do internals so that severely limits the likelihood of infection anyways. She is such a caring wonderful woman. I am so grateful that I have found her. She is exactly what I need this time.
Well, thanks for listening!!!!
I don't think I've said hi yet, but I wanted to let you know I'll be following you and I'm glad you have a wonderful m/w that makes all the difference in the world!
I don't know how I missed your lodge. Welcome! Can't wait to follow and hear more re: your VBAC. Your midwife sounds super awesome.
Great appt! Sounds like you found a great MW! I know you'll have a wonderful VBAC!
Your midwife sounds awesome Lisa!
I am pretty excited. I just met my doula. I know that I am a little late in doing this, but I actually was never planning on having one. After talking with my MW, she really encouraged me to have one.
I definitely think that she will be awesome. She had 2 c-sections and then a VBAC, so I think she really understands where I am coming from and how important having not only a VBAC, but also a natural childbirth is to me. I stressed to her that I really need a cheerleader in the 11th hour to remind me what has become so important to me over the past couple of years. I think she will be great and I felt really comfortable with her.
Also, for some reason today, I am HOT!!!!!!!! It actually isn't even that hot of a day out, but I cannot seem to get comfortable. Anyone else experience this down the stretch?
Cool Lisa- your doula sounds perfect for you and your situation! I remember feeling like a little furnace was inside me at the end of my pregnancy. ((Hugs)) It's especially bad in the summer! I remember when I was pregnant with Hunter it being so uncomfortable! I think I filled up a kiddy pool and lounged in the back yard in ice cold hose water - very refreshing! Feel better!
Your doula sounds perfect for your situation! I'm sure she'll be a tremendous help to you.
just now catching up on your lodge! I'm glad you have a midwife and doula that you feel comfortable with. Can't wait for your VBAC!!
just checking in to see how you are doing
I went 3 weeks early with my last one. Tonight I have been having regular contractions every 8-9 minutes, but not painful but more intense than your average BH. No mucous plug or bloody show.
Any BTDT moms??? Was this a typical lead up to your labor or did you just not even take notice?
I only got to labor a very short while the last time and I can't remember.
Lisa, I've had a few similar "sessions" of ctx. Usually at night. With Alicia, I did have a few of these sessions in the last 2-3 weeks before she was born. So for me, it was a sign of upcoming labour, but it was not an "immediate" sign - more of a "you're on the right track" type of thing.
And yay for getting a doula! She does sound just perfect for you - I'm sure you'll be so glad to have here there!
Well, I went over two weeks early with my last one and here I am, almost at my EDD, LOL. I am no help, but hope those ctx are working their magic for you.
Well, I hope this is labor. I have been up all night. The contractions are now coming every 4-5 minutes and are increasingly uncomfortable. I am going to call my MW soon to see if I can come in early for my appointment. It was at 11am, but I'm really hoping that she can see me earlier. It would be a real bummer if these were prodromal labor.....
I hope this is it for you!! I'll be stalking your lodge when I get home from work this afternoon!
Sending you lots of dilation and ELV! GL at your appt.
Sounds promising!! Good luck! Can't wait to hear an update!!
ELV Lisa! I've heard through the grapevine (one of the girls on July 06 BB got impatient and called lol) that her water has broken...hope it's ok that I link this Lisa...http://www.pregnancy.org/bulletinboards/showthread.php?t=365929
Can't wait to hear all about it!
Thinking of you, Lisa!
