Thank you. Smile Don't worry about being a little late it's okay.

Well I'm Krista, DH is Shem, we met for the first time in October of 2006 and started dating on March 14th, 2007 by March 31st, 2007 we were engaged. Yes that was dating for 2 1/2 weeks. Well we got married on August 18th, 2007 and started trying for our first one immediately after getting married. On November 5th of 2007 we got our first BFP, due July 11th, 2008. DH was sure it was going to be a girl but February 21st, 2007 we found out that we were going to be having a little boy join our family. Pregnancy was great! Hardly any morning sickness, a few aches and pains but other than that it was great. Until at 37 weeks i started having pre-labor. Well not a big deal so i thought but once that started sleep was shot almost every night because that's when the contractions liked to pick up. Well I ended up being induced at 41 weeks. I caved for an induction because i wanted to see my little boy so bad. It started out great 6 hours of pit induced contractions all handled on my own. Then, what i believe which no one told me about, transition started. I couldn't take the hip pain from being stuck on my right side through most of the labor any more. So i got the Epi. I was 4cm dilated, i think 5 by the time i got the epi though. That's when things went south. They had turned the pit clear up to 18 and the highest they go is 20, so when i got the epi it sent my body into 90 second contractions with only 30 seconds rest between them. Shawn went into distress. His heart rate dropped and the room went crazy. The pit was stopped, thank goodness, and my doctor came in to asses the situation. She wanted to observe me and baby for an hour to see if things would straighten up on there own and start the pit back up at a low dose if it did, if not c-section was next. One hour later they started the pit back up. I labored for the rest of my labor on a low pit drip and only half of my body numb from the stupid epi. My right side never went fully numb. When the time came to push the nurse didn't believe that i was ready because women who have any epi can't feel that, even though she knew it was only half working for me, and while i was sitting at a 9 basically 10, i had a small lip, she took her own sweet time getting things ready for the delivery telling me not to push yet, the whole time while i'm SCREAMING "I need to push!!!!" Then she finally had me try a push. Had me stop after a very short push and quickly got the doctor. When i finally started pushing with every push Shawn's heart rate dropped. He had the cord wrapped around his neck. So after 3 pushes on my own my Dr used the Kiwi pump to finish pulling him out due to his heart dropping into the 90's and not coming back up. I pushed for about 20 minutes, ended up with a third degree tear, and a beautiful baby boy that i didn't get to see for over an hour after i had him for NO reason at all, other than the nurses fell head over heals for him and didn't seem to want to bring him back. His blood sugar was low so they feed him a bottle, knowing full well that i wanted to breast feed, and that was his first taste and association with eating. He would never really latch on after that and even when he did he wouldn't stay on because it was too much work to get the milk. So after 6 weeks of trying to get him to nurse i gave up. My milk never came in due to him not latching on and the stress of not being able to nurse. I was heart broken. That was one special thing i was looking forward too. It didn't happen.
Shawn is now 18 months old and very energetic and very skinny due to family genes. He is sweet and loves to help out with everything.

May of 2009 we decided to go off birth control and start trying for #2. We figured with my family's history it would take at least 2 months to conceive. Well June 17th of 2009, we received a very shocking BFP. We were stunned that it happened so fast. In October we found out that it was going to be another sweet boy joining our family. The pregnancy has been very good as well. Once again hardly any morning sickness. This time there has been a lot more aches though. But i think it's due to the fact that William has loved being in my hips from day one and that's where he has stayed the whole time.

Welcome to your lodge, Krista! I can't believe it is already time for your lodge....I think that means I'm next...wow.

I enjoyed reading your intro. I am like you in that I have had pretty easy pregnancies, too. I'm sorry your birth with your first was unpleasant. If you could have been moving around, I think you would have done fine. They turned your pit up way too high after you got the epi! They increased mine to 12 and then turned it back down to 10 because the contraction pattern started looking too intense. I'm glad you got out of it without a c-section with that and the heart decels during pushing because of the cord around his neck. I'm so sorry you were unable to breastfeed because the nurses gave him a bottle. That makes me so upset to hear! I hope your experience this time is much better.

I know it's crazy it's already lodge time. I do think you are the next one. Smile Yesterday i went through a nesting crazy and cleaned my entire house basically. Last night i was having strong contractions, i had to concentrate through them, ever 4 minutes for an hour and then the slowed down. I'm still having some off and on today though. TMI warning..... my bowels have been weird today too as well as feeling nauseated off and on all day. I know i'm dilated 1cm and 30% effaced already and baby is sitting really low. At my dr's appointment on Friday she had a hard time finding my cervix due to his head being in the way. It was still back behind his head. I guess we'll see what happens though.

As for the breast feeding thing, I'm going to be a lot more strict and every time the nurses take him they are going to get a warning. My dr is going to let me try nursing him as soon as i have him though. I'm hoping he will latch on right from the beginning and nurse well.

Looks like i'm the only one that ever looks at my lodge. lol. That proves i really need to get a life.

So i think, after having a break down last night, that i have come to terms with the fact that i will most likely not give birth until the end of this month if not the beginning of next. I have a history of going over due even with all the fun pre-labor contractions i have. So i just need to accept it and just go with the flow of the month. Though i was hoping for a birthday baby but as i will only be 37 weeks on the 10th i really doubt that will happen. Oh well. Life goes on. I just need to remind myself that the longer he stays in there, with in reason of course, the healthier he will be. The more likely i will have my birth wishes met. The plan is to be the first to really bond with him, which includes getting him right after he is born, clean him off, try nursing right away, and hold him for at least a half hour after he is born. Smile

I read your last post yesterday, but since I'd just posted I waited to reply Smile

My DD was only taken out of my room twice during our hospital stay, and I was able to nurse her before the first time they took her. The hospital where I'm having this baby doesn't have a nursery--continuous rooming in is their standard of care, and they have LDRPs (I'll be in the same room from admission to discharge), so I'm pretty sure this little guy won't be leaving our sight.

I think you have come to a good place with accepting that William might come later than you would like. You are more likely to get to hold an nurse him right away if he is full term. He will come at the perfect time for him, and if the perfect time for him is the beginning of March, then that will be for the best.

Sorry I'm behind on your lodge, life has been busy for me this week. I hope you have a smooth natural birth this time. Try and remind yourself that each contraction you have now is one you won't have during labor!

I had my 37 week appointment yesterday. I lost a pound so the puts me at 27 pounds, but i started out under weight so i should try to gain about 30. While i was there i end up having a really bad contractions while trying to lay down on the table to hear baby and get measured, i'll i can say is OWWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEE. The baby's heart rate was in the 130's so that sounded good, and that was while i was contracting so i know baby can handle contractions okay. Smile Now the bad news is i'm still measuring 34 weeks. I haven't changed in a week and that puts me at 3 weeks behind, so the doctor scheduled an ultra sound for next Tuesday. I'm excited to see my baby but scared of what news i may hear. I'm hoping it's just 1. cause i make small baby's 2. he has dropped so low.

Little family history on me though. My mom has 4 kids one of which, my sister that is just older than me, is handicapped. My mom was measuring behind with her. Come to find out at an ultra sound because she was measuring behind, at 38 weeks the placenta had calcified. My sister wasn't getting what she needed, she was induced and came out at a very small 5 pounds and measured the length of my moms palm to her elbow. She is handicapped, the problem is, is we don't know if it's from the placenta calcification or if it's from another problem called Microcephaly. My other sister has a handicapped little boy who has Microcephaly. So needless to say i'm scared.

Of course it may be nothing all together. Don't get me wrong i am excited to see my little boy again i'm just worried something may be wrong with him.

I am also "underweight" according to the BMI classification. With my first pregnancy, I leveled off around a 28 lb weight gain around 37 weeks. My DD was a healthy weight, 7 lbs 3 oz, so I know that the "recommended" weight gain isn't as big of a deal as some people make it out to be. This time, I am about 4-5 pounds lower than what I weighted last time, but I did loose a little more weight in the first trimester because of digestive issues and a little because I was still BFing. PLUS, I've noticed that I have no swelling yet this time, so I'm sure some of the less weight is because I'm not retaining water.

:bigarmhug: Try not too worry too much. There can be a lot of reasons why you are measuring behind. It could be from him moving lower or being in a different position or it could just be human error with a measureing tape. I hope your placenta and fluid levels look fine on your ultrasound so you won't have to worry about it!

I have a sick boy today. Dealing with a fever and going on fairly little sleep. At about 3 last night i started having mild cramping and by the time i woke up at 8 it was a full blown eternal cramp that does not seem to go away and Tylenol wont touch it. Im having contractions as well but they are still very irregular. I have some that double me over. I keep getting stabbing pains as well. From what i can tell it has intensified a little bit from what it was earlier today. Nothing that i would seriously call labor though. In fact i have no idea what is going on. About all i can tell you is im really uncomfortable.

DS is feeling much better today. His fever finally broke at 4 yesterday afternoon and he started to feel better yesterday evening but today he is doing much better. Now to get his appetite back.

My contractions settled down and my abdomen doesn't hurt nearly as bad but my hips are still rather sore. I think they have about had it with the extra weight. I can be just fine walking around one minute and then the next my right hip (it's only my right hip) freaks out, i don't know how to explain it other than sharp stabbing pain that i can't move through, and i have to sit down on a heating pad before i can walk again. It seriously hits so fast and so out of the blue i'm about on the floor when it hits. Could it be sciatica?

For the most part i'm actually feeling better. I'm ready to be done being pregnant though. My emotions are so out of whack that i almost feel like i'm going crazy. DH and i have been having more arguments as well because i guess i'm moody and talk to him like he is an idiot. I don't even realize i'm doing it and i certainly don't mean to. I think physically, mentally, and emotional i'm just drained and it seems like there is nothing i can do about it.

My son had a small and calcified placenta, he had IUGR from it but other than that was fine. Try not to worry between now and your ultrasound.

You could be experiencing sciatic pain, when I had it it felt like a huge cramp running down my thigh and it was very hard to stand upright when it hit. The chiropractor helped me a ton with getting it to stop.

I'm glad your little boy is feeling better.

I've been having a lot of discomfort in my right hip, lately, too. I'm glad to hear your DS is feeling better. It can be really hard to not be mean to your husband when you're pregnant--I'm pretty sure I do it without realizing it, too.

Had my ultra sound today to check on baby from measuring small.

Baby is looking good. His head is measuring at 38 weeks, so a full week ahead, and his body is measuring 2 weeks behind. But i make skinny kids, not that i can help it with skinny genes from me and their dad. His heart rate was a little lower than i would have liked, 121bpm, but i had nasty contractions all morning long too. He is in the perfect birth position. Head down back on my right side, butt up in my right ribs. The fluid level looks good as well. They estimated his weight to be about 5 pounds 10 oz. The conclusions, I just make small kids.

So glad everything looks good. I'm way over these "practice contractions" though. I'm seriously in pain. Sad

Yay! Wonderful news about your ultrasound! I'm so glad and relieved that his head measured big and everything looked good with fluid levels and your placenta. Some people just make small babies just like some people make large ones. Sorry about the "practice labor" bothering you.

Hi from Feb 2010 Kridda! :wavehello:
I enjoyed reading your story although I'm very disappointed to hear the way things were handled for your first birth. I sure hope they abide by your rules this time!!

I just need to remind myself that the longer he stays in there, with in reason of course, the healthier he will be.

This is me! I want to make sure I'm growing a good healthy baby in there!

I hope your contractions let up some, sorry that you have them so often w/o actually going into labor. Maybe that means you'll have a short labor?

I have my basically 38 week appointment today so i'll have to update after that. The contractions have let up but it seems like i get one or two good easy days and then a bad day with the contractions. Oh well. I really am hoping that it means a fairly easy short labor. Smile That would be awesome!

DS1 is feeling better. He has been off all week, hasn't been eating hardly anything, fussy, sleepy, all the not so fun things and i think it was from being sick over the weekend and, silly me didn't even think about this, he slammed his face hard into our wood floor and split his lip open Saturday and i think he bruised his mouth. Last night after about a half hour screaming session over dinner, DH was making him eat and he wasn't happy but it really did need to be done as he hadn't eaten anything for nearly 6 days, and a good firming talking to at bed time telling him he didn't need to act like a spoiled brat we are just trying to help him and teach him, he has been amazing today. He hasn't been fussy, he actually ate for me today, not as much as usual but i'm sure his tummy has shrunk a bit and is still a bit yucky feeling, and he has been loving on me which he hasn't done in over a week. Smile It's seems mean what we did to him but it was necessary and it worked. Smile

Hi Vicki! :wavehello:

I'm sure hoping they do too. I have a birth plan this time and i'm making sure the nirse has one personally and i'm taping one to my door. Smile Of course i'm staying home as long as i can to avoid being around them for as long. Smile Hopefully the plan works. I'm really hoping that the contractions i have been having means a short labor because they leave me pretty sore and i would hate to be worn out from them before my labor even starts specially if it's a long labor. I guess we'll see.

Had my appointment yesterday and everything looks good. The dr said judging by his weight that even if he was born a week early he would be about 7 pounds. So he is actually measuring bigger than his big brother was. Which i felt he was this entire pregnancy anyways. lol. His heart rate sounded good and when i had her check me she said i am now at 2cm and 70% effaced. She didn't think i would go into labor this weekend but wasn't fully confident in that and then told me to schedule an appointment next week, i quote, "just in case". So that right there tells me that she doesn't think i'll make it a week. But you never know. I'm not getting my hopes up and i'm just planning on going to my appointment next Friday but on the inside hoping i won't. Smile

Oh i also started drinking RRL tea and i can tell you that it has already helped my contractions a ton. They are a more regular strength rather than some weak and some really strong ones. The first cup actually made a difference with that. Smile

Bit of a lurker here, but just want to add my congrats to you. Glad you had a positive 38 week appointment :-).

As for the RRL tea, with DS2 I think it made a big difference for me. I was drinking 2-3 cups a day from 36 weeks on, and by the end @42 wks I never wanted to taste another drop I was so sick of it LOL! But it does have it's benefits Wink

Well last night i had 4 hours of contractions every 8-10 minutes. Then they eased up. Still having some but not as frequent. I'm kind of glad i didn't go into labor as it wouldn't have been my doctor delivering. She was out of town all weekend and she gets back tonight. Hoping i go soon though because these practice labors like to hit me at night and i'm exhausted from not getting much sleep. If i make it to my next appointment, nearly 39 weeks, i'm having my membranes swept. With the way i've been contracting i'm hoping it will just finish things off and i'll go into labor. Dr. predicts a 7 pound baby by 39 weeks. I'm not exactly sure i can handle anything bigger than 7 pounds so i'm hoping i don't go much past 39 weeks if i do go past. I guess we shall see though. I'm feeling pretty good all of a sudden other than very restless, which is driving me mad.

Sorry you're having so much practice labor. My doctor is out of town all this week, so I know how you feel. I think that you'll be able to handle however big he is no matter when he comes. Plus, remember that your doctor's estimate is just a guess--she's not psychic or anything Smile

Having a good day today. Don't know what it is but something just feels good and right about today. Smile Crazy i know but hey i'll take a good day!!! Last night I had some curled up in a ball type of contractions and had to remind myself to breath through them. They only lasted an hour though. After that i slept like a rock. It was great! Funny enough there is a joke going around about the 18th being our lucky number, as DH and i were married for time and eternity on August 18th, and DS1 was born 11 months later on July the 18th. So seems like every big event in our lives together has happened on the 18th day of the month. That would be all to ironic if William decided to come today as well.

Ha ha. So starting just after 7 i started having contractions that have me doubled over. I can't move while having them either. Sadly they will not regulate. Or at least haven't so far. They have been any where from 3 minutes to 7 minutes. No further apart than that but they really aren't wanting to regulate. I guess we shall see. I'm just planning on it being another good night of practice labor.

Yep a good night of practice labor. Those contractions lasted for an hour and a half and then stopped. Well i can't say stopped entirely because i contract at least once an hour all day long but they aren't as painful. Smile I have my doc appointment today and hopefully a membrane strip. Smile

39 week appointment went well. Still sitting at exactly the same weight for 3 weeks straight, 123.6 pounds. Blood pressure was good. I'm dilated to 3 cm she didn't say how effaced though. She stripped my membranes and when she was all done she said that i can schedule an appointment if i want to. She really had that i doubt you'll make it another week look on her face especially after she checked dilation and did the strip. I guess we shall see though.

He he. I know i had my membranes stripped yesterday but when i had it done with DS i never had this much going on. Sense last night i have been loosing my mucus plug in chunks and every time i go to the bathroom i have a fair amount of bloody show, either on my t.p. or pretty fresh on my liner.

Also as the day progresses i keep getting crampier and my vagina pressure has increased a ton. Just waiting for contracts to start getting regular. Smile

Yay Kridda this may be it! When I had mine stripped w/ DS, I had blood right after and up until/during labor. This time around after the sweep I had nothing. So hoping this is it for you! I'm sure you would welcome contractions that would get you WAY closer to seeing your baby in the immediate future!

Contractions are slowly picking up. I've decided my body really just likes to take it's time. But HOLY COW bloody show today!!!! No joke. Sense 8 this morning i've went through 3 liners. Not completely full but about half full. It's gross! At about 6 pm last night the bloody show stopped completely but 6 this morning it's been back and about twice as worse.

Bloody show has slowed down now, basically stopped. Contractions still aren't regular so i think i will be here for a while longer. I just took some Tylenol, drinking a cheery 7-up, and enjoying a night with DH, then to end it all a nice sleeping pill. Smile

Started bleeding again this morning. I called my Dr. and she is concerned that i'm still bleeding
and the amount i have been bleeding so she is making us go into L&D. Waiting on DH to get home. I think everything is packed and then to just wait for DH's mom to get here to watch DS1 and we will be going in to have things checked out. I'm so nervous right now.Baby is still moving normal but with the fact that i've been bleeding for 3 days and contracting irregularly, spaced no further apart than maybe 45 minutes and getting as close as 5 minutes, for over 24 hours something just doesn't feel right. I guess we shall see. If they keep me i'll let my birth buddy know.

I'm back. The baby looked great on the monitors. The contractions are way far apart. They said the reason why i'm bleeding more than most women is because i'm a redhead and i have great blood supply going to my parts. Who knew that would make that much of a difference. So i sit at home and wait some more with relief knowing that the bleeding is normal for me and baby is doing great.
