YAY! Welcome to your lodge Rachelle!
Hi Rachelle, did you have a good weekend??
How do you feel??
Welcome! I can't wait to read your intro!
Welcome to your Lodge DD Buddy!!!!
Thanks so much all!
I did have a good weekend, very busy. I sat down with Clay our 16yo so he could show me how to get pics on here yesterday, but I was kinda tired and couldn't sit long enough to get it figured out. so I'm bummed about that. I'll get it though!
Kraig and I were married after 2 years of dating. Sydney was born 1989. Before she was born, I thought I wanted to stick with my career, and fully intended to put her in daycare, and maybe have one more... I delivered her naturally with no medical intervention because I wanted a natural birth after taking a birthing class. After my 3 month maternaty leave, going back to work, to be honest, was torture. I knew then that what I really wanted was to be a stay at home mom. After a year, I was able to quit and we moved to a small, family friendly town. In 92 Clay was born. Then 94 Grace, 96 Lily, 00 Nate, 04 Marcus.
We didn't start out thinking we wanted a large family. But I have easy pregnancies and deliveries, I'm a SAHM, and it was easy to add one more. So here we are, having our 7th - our tiebreaker.
I'll post pictures soon.
So I'm guessing this is your last? If it is how does it feel to know your done? I can't imagaine 7 kids:) Of course I can't imagaine not being a SAHM some day either. I'm glad your doing well, and I'm excited to follow this lodge. Have your others been early or late or a mix? Do you have a guess about the sex of the baby? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just curious and DD is napping so I have a few minutes of quiet!
Welcome to your lodge. I can't wait to see pictures of your family! Are you all taking bets on boy/girl?
Well, I think this is our last. We thought Marcus was...haha
I don't know yet if I feel like I'm done - I've never felt I was done before, but maybe after this one I will? I do love being a sahm, but I did start my own business 3 years ago that I love. I do consulting, so I have a home office. It has been really nice for extra income, and for my "professional" side. I got to travel to Australia 2 years ago because of my business.
Let's see, Sydney and Clay were born on their due dates, then Grace was one day late - totally her personality! Then Nate and Marcus were born 3 and 6 days early. I am pretty sure I'll be having this baby the last week of Sept.
I don't have a clue about the sex of this one, but Marcus (4yo) is convinced though that we are having a girl, and he's named her Jet.:D Just the other day though, he said I had a boy baby in my belly button named Quay, and Jet was in the big part of my belly. OOO.KKKaay..... never a dull moment with kids - right!
Well the girls are all voting for a girl, and the Clay and Nate are voting for a boy, and Marcus makes them mad because he's sure it's a girl - where he got that idea is anyones guess. Kraig is neutral, and I waver back and forth.
oh, and Vanessa, I grew up in Alaska - mostly in Anchorage, and your pic makes me a twinge homesick, even though I've lived in Colorado 20 years!
Awesome that you grew up here! I love Alaska and hope to stay. Very interesting that all you kids where so close to their due dates, I can't wait to see what this one does. Maybe your going to have girl this time and you have another boy in your future:) I've heard that kids are supposed to be good at guessing. My DS who was 2 1/2 at the time said we were having a girl from the time he started talking about her. Shall be fun to see!
Maybe Marcas knows something the docs and you don't! Maybe you are having twins!! LMAO! Jet and Quay! My friends boy was 4 when she was last prego and he named her baby Sally, lol! You are the woman for having 6 (soon to be 7) kids!! How do you manage your sanity? And whats your secret to having alone time with your DH? Oh and any advise to us first time NCBers? Whats the hardest part of a ncb? lol! We all seem to be attacking you with questions!! Sorry I'm nosey!:)
Nicole, it has always been a wish of mine to have twins - I'm sure I'm not though.
the secret to alone time with dh is locking our door.:D
I hope I don't sound like a broken record, but for 1st time NCB's is:
* to have a plan ( I like a birthplan signed by my doc, for the first couple)
* move around - do not lay in bed to labor
* find your grove, I've labored in a rocking chair, on a birthing ball, squatting, hanging on my dhs' neck, leaning over the bed... find something that feels right and stick with that. I have a funny about squatting. I squatted by putting my arms on the back of the chair, and hooking my fingers under the table in our room. Then I'd breath - big deep breaths in through my nose, then exhaling through my mouth. A nurse came in and watched me for a moment and said, "you are going to get really dehydrated breathing like that." So I finished with the contrax and walked over to get my water bottle for a swig. Baby was born about 10 minutes later.... she thought I was in early labor by how calm I was. That reminds me of another point.
* stay calm. Pain is your friend, it's telling you that your body is working, and you are laboring to have a baby. Go with it, work with it. When you hit the point that you say you can't do this anymore, you are more than likely in transition, and very close to meeting your baby. I heard something the other day that I really liked, so I'll share here, " Pain is fear leaving your body."
I think the hardest part of being a NCBer in the hosp is the feeling of having to fight for how you want your birth to go. Some hosp make it easy, and have a NCB mentality, other's have proceedures and protocals that are set up for "managed" labor and delivery. which reminds me of another important point.
* do not get to the hosp too early. if you go in and they give you the option of being admitted or leaving for awhile - leave. even if it's to walk the hosp halls.
That's all I can think of for now....
" Pain is fear leaving your body."
I really like that!!!
You have some great tips on having a successful NCB, if you think of any others please add them
thanks for all the tips Rachelle! You've got to be a pro at this by now!
So you grew up in Alaska !!! GREAT !!
I love "my state" couldn't live anywhere else!!!!
Thanks for all those tips !! YOU ARE A PRO !!!! you should write a book
You are one I look up too since you had NCB at hopsital and when you mention this earlier on this BB or the AMA BB I was so so relieved !!!!
Hope you post photos soon !!!
Congrats on your lodge!!! Can't wait to follow it!
Thanks for the GREAT tips!!! It's really great to hear a NCB in a hospital can be done!
My DH is a twin, people all the time teased us about twins. But there is only one (so they say, lol)! My moms friends daughter just got done having twins! She ended up with a c-section. I would love to read your NCB story with twins!
Congratulations on your lodge Rachelle!!
Congrats on your lodge!
Thanks everyone! I am working on getting some pics on here!
Wow, maybe I need my eyes testing as I missed your lodge earlier! Congrats on your lodge!
I've not really had any pregnancy dreams this time around, but last night I had a doosy!
I delivered my own baby in one minute, at home- totally pain free, and it was a girl!
uh, can I order one of those?
I delivered my own baby in one minute, at home- totally pain free, and it was a girl!
Great dream!!!! Just catching up on lodges here and enjoyed yours.... great tips in your post! You really could write a book on this... I will keep all of that in mind!!
Jet and Quay made me laugh.
Good luck on your 1 minute pain free birth! I bet your right about a girl though, I didn't happen to notice if you had names picked out yet?
I love your tips on NCB and couldnt agree more! I will have to print them out and give them to DH to read to me if I start second guessing myself in labor!
First, maybe Marcus is right. He was the last one in there, right? Maybe he knows something everyone else doesn't! LOL
Second, maybe your dream had to do with him naming LO "Jet." And, hey, it is #7 - you never know!
OOO sign me up for the 1 min pain free birth also!
Good dream, I think it's very positive that you can envision yourself having a "quick and easy" delivery, even on a subconscience level.
Okay, just to be different, I'm gonna say I think you're having a BOY this time around. Being on team green makes it a little more exciting!!
Hi Rachelle! I love your lodge! You have such interesting stories and your tips are amazing! Oh, and fantastic dream btw
I am curious too, do you have any names picked?
I'm stil having trouble getting pics up. Not giving up though....
today I feel good, but am having a lot of pressure and bh. I'm having fun with the contraction master! Pretty sure this is just practice though.:D
Fingers crossed that either the BH ease up and go away or turn into the real thing soon!
That's an awesome dream! It would be great if it came true!
Rachelle, after those contractions you were having yesterday, and the full moon last night, we need an update today! How are you feeling?
