Holy crap, it's that time, isn't it??? Thanks, ladies for the warm welcome to my lodge.

I'm Amy (will be 31 on Nov 2) and DH is Eric (32). I have two older children from a previous marriage. Well, sorta. From a previous relationship that turned into a marriage just as the 2nd child was making herself be known, but it ended when my oldest, Noah (11) was 2 and Ella (9) was just 6 months old. Best decision of my life to get out of that marriage, but I'm ever grateful to the man for giving me awesome kiddos. I was a single mother for years though I had a couple of long term relationships. DH and I got married 2 years ago and started trying for a baby immediately. We now have Asa, 13 months, and this little guy on the way, who will be our last. I've known DH since high school (we went to prom together but then he dumped me) and we happened to run back into each other at a bar after not seeing each other for years and years (he'd been overseas with the Navy) and started dating long distance. We tried to only see each other once a month, then every other weekend, and when we were trying to get to each other every weekend (he was in Baltimore, I was in Nashville) we knew someone had to move. So, he moved back to Nashville, we lived separate because we wanted to make sure this was going to work, and were engaged within 6 months. The kids adore him, he adores them and me, and all is well in our lives.:)
I've had all my babies outside of a hospital. Noah was born when I was 19 and scared out of my mind. I had started OB care and knew this wasn't the way to go. I worked with a girl who was also pregnant who used a midwife, so I called the midwife up, met with her during my 7th month, and was sold. Spiritual Midwifery also was a life-changing read. Noah was born after 17 hours of labor (including over 2 hours of pushing), posterior, all 9 lbs, 3 ozs of him. I tore pretty badly and had to get transferred for some serious stitching. Other than that, it was a great experience. I became pregnant with Ella when Noah was 11 months old. She was born in the same room with the same midwife as Noah. Very beautiful birth...6 hours, I believe, born in the water to candlelight. She was truly the most beautiful newborn I've ever seen. (must dig a pic up at some point).
My last pregnancy was uneventful physically, but stressful due to my life at the time. We bought our first home, I was promoted to a pretty stressful position in my company, and I worked with my MIL.;) I went into the pregnancy weighing more than I needed to and gained more than I needed to. I was truly miserable the last few weeks and did everything I could short of castor oil to get Asa out. I knew I only had a certain amount of time for maternity leave and I left work at 37 weeks, so I wanted him to come on already. Of course, babies come when they're ready, and I delivered a 10 lb waterbaby at 39 weeks, 3 days. My postpartum time was stressful due to adjusting my family to the new addition and the fact that I had a looming date ahead...returning to work. I went back when Asa was 9 weeks old and was miserable after a few weeks (once the novelty wore off). I was pumping but not enough, not sleeping well, exhausted, something had to give. I finally came up with the idea of doing home day care and this is what I've done since Feb of this year. I had a difficult time adjusting to it (I was so used to being SUPER BUSY all the time and out of the house all day) but I've settled into this and am having a blast being home with my baby. This is certainly not a life career for me but is helping pay the bills at this point and I get to color and have Dance Party USA each day and get paid for it, so I can't complain much (not that that stops me).
This pregnancy has flown by. I had some wicked morning sickness at first (never had it before this one) but by the 2nd trimester, I was actually going days at a time forgetting I was even with child. These last few weeks have really sneaked up on me and I have to admit I'm not ready for this baby at this point. I'm doing nothing to bring on labor unless I'm overdue. I'm trying to get as much done as possible, take it easy when I can, and just enjoy my current family before this next one arrives. I'm feeling great, sleeping well (thanks to Calcium/Magnesium citrate), have gained an okay amount, trying to walk as much as possible...yeah, it's going pretty good here at the end.

I have a list of things to do and one of them is put some music together. HappiLeigh recommended Deep Forest and I need to look into that. Any other suggestions?

I'm going to try to be much better at this lodge than I was at my last one, updating at least once a day. You ladies may get sick of me!

Physically, I'm not doing anything at all to make me think this baby will be the least bit early. No cervical secretions, no contractions other than BH, nothing. Mentally, though, I feel myself shifting this week into isolation mode, or, attempting to in this crazy house. I'm finding myself more annoying by the incessant chatter and wanting to retreat to my tub several times a day. I'm also getting really snippy, which is never good. Must focus of changing my attitude a bit, or at least disguising my annoyance so as to still have friends and family after the babe is born.

I volunteer myself as your verbal punching bag. You can get snippy with me all ya want Wink

Off to look for more music...

ETA: New age music I found (not sure of the type of music you are looking for, but this is the sort of music I am looking for for my labor, more of an ambient/relaxing tone..)

Album/Group

Hands of Light / Reiki
Serenity / Liquid Mind
Chrysalis / 2002
Free as a Bird / Omar

Thanks, Leigh, but I can't get snippy with you.:)
I think I'm looking for sexy music. I know that might sound odd, but since I'm going to try to just be with Eric alone as much as possible, I really want some good sexytime tunes playing while he's rubbing me down during contractions. I like what you've suggested so far.

I got all my cloth diapers in the mail yesterday and I'm almost done prepping them. They're so tiny!

I can feel every little part of Nappy's body in my belly. It's strange and makes me wonder if either he's not presenting correctly or my fluid is low. I mean, I can make out everything. I have a MW appt tomorrow so I'll ask her.

I have a pretty full weekend. I've got a playgroup this morning and tonight is dinner with friends (I'm having a glass of wine and can't wait!). Tomorrow is Ella's soccer game (it's our turn to take snack and of course she wants me to make my chocolate chip cookies), then the MW appt, then an engagement party for a friend of mine. I'm bringing an appetizer to that. Sunday I want to make sure all the birthing supplies are in one place and we're moving the main computer from our bedroom to a space in the laundry room so we can make room for the birthing pool and just have our bedroom look like a bedroom and not partly an office.

I'm tired already and it's not even 8am! Asa was up at 5 due to practically freezing in his room (it's cooler here than it's been in months and months) so he snuggled and nursed and gave me lots of BH contractions for an hour or so, then decided to poke me in the eyes and talk to me. I only have one child coming today (as opposed to 4 yesterday!) and the big kids are out of school, so hopefully I'll get a little rest with my feet up while the kiddos play. I'm also keeping my fingers crossed for a successful nap time after the playgroup!

When you say you're looking for "sexy music" all I can think about is the "soul" collection offered on infomercials at night. I have some Conjure One that I really like, too, that I'm planning on throwing in my "labor music" playlist.

I hope you got a rest today!

Yeah, not quite.;)
I asked a friend to think of some music for me and she said, "Like Sexyback?". Um, yeah, not that, either.

That's sweet that you're doing cloth! So are we and I'm pretty jazzed about it. It will certainly be an adventure. My sister is our only family who lives within 1000 miles of us, and has already refused to change a CD, but I think we'll turn her around Wink

What kind of diapers are you using?

We're using PFs from Green Mountain (I hear they're wider than others?), some kissaluvs contours and fitteds, Bummis SWW and proraps for covers, and Bum Genius OS for nighttime. We use the BG on my 13 month old so if they don't work out on the babe, they'll still get put to good use.

Here's a pic of me from last night right before I went to dinner with friends. I took advantage of wearing something other than tshirts and flip-flops.

Thanks, y'all.:D

So I'm scared of pushing. I've not had great experiences with this stage, except for DD, but she was my "small" baby at 8lb, 15 oz.
Noah was sunny-side up and I pushed for a really long time, getting in and out of the tub, trying to birth stool, hands and knees, everything we could think of. It ended up with me on the bed and my MW basically pulling him out because we were having HR issues and some scary stuff. I tore and it was horrible and there was lots of blood and ugh, it was bad. With Asa I pushed for an hour (3rd baby, this is a bit long in my book) and after his head was out he had sticky shoulders. I heard the MW say, "Flip her over!" and I was suddenly on my hands and knees with my MW pulling him so hard my knees came up off the bottom of the pool.
I've never felt the urge to push. Ever. I want to push to get the baby out, but my body doesn't tell me when to do it. Maybe this is from my first experience and is all in my head? So my MW and I have decided that this time I'm going to breathe the baby out. I'm not pushing unless there's a reason to get the babe out quickly. I'm just going to relax and rest when I get fully dilated and BREATHE and relax some more. But, I'm still scared of that part.:( I'm also going to get out of the tub if I'm feeling "sticky" and see if the gravity helps. Any other suggestions?

I like your idea of breathing the baby out. If you don't get an urge to push, there might be a reason for it (like sticky shoulders or malpositioning). I'm a big fan of doing what your body tells you to do.

The only other suggestion I have is to let go and let god. Once you get to that stage, there's not much else to be done, so relax and let what's meant to happen, happen. Smile You have lots of supportive people around you that can help you.

My MW has already told us she doesn't say 'push' she says 'breathe'. I think it's a good way to allow nature to do things the way it wants.
I'm pretty scared of this stage myself, so it's nice to know I'm not alone! But I'm really focussing on the breathe aspect of things and hoping that it allows me to relax and open up.

Anyway good luck! You look great, so healthy!

I'm planning on doing limited pushing because of how much tearing I had with Sam. My doc said maybe he'll even suggest pushing when I'm not having a contraction so I don't have as much strength.

Didn't I just say I have no signs of labor coming anytime soon???

So I've had loose stools for the past couple of days, last night I had contractions every 10 minutes for 2 hours, and this morning I lost a bit of plug. The contractions were something new for me...I've never had them unless I'm in actual labor, but these were the cervix-pain-take-some-deep-breaths contractions, so it definitely caught my attention. I drank lots of water and tea and just relaxed in bed and woke up this morning with no baby, so I guess it was just some warm-up stuff. My MW told me that after a few babies, some women tend to mistake BH for real contractions because the BH are so strong, so maybe this was the case, though I just doubt it. It's still so early to me, so I'm taking a Zen attitude and letting what happens, happen without getting attached to anything. I am about to clean this house from top to bottom, though. I don't have any daycare kids today and my big kids are out of the school, so I'm going to recruit them with the promise of treats later on.

"I woke up this morning with no baby..." For some reason that cracks me up. I don't know why. I wonder if you'll end up having your baby before I have mine, lol. I still haven't gotten into that "cleaning the house from top to bottom" groove yet, so probably.

Get out of town Amy! I didn't see your lodge until just now, and I'm shocked to see some things happening. Wow. I agree you are beautiful, love your sweater, and want you to stay pregnant long enough to wear it again so I can get a dang cd to you. If there's not enough time, I'd like you to have some sexy labor time to R Kelly and Ginuwine. And Barry White. Oh baby. You're going to breathe that baby out nice and smoothe. I want to squeeze you - I'm so excited for you.

I like DMB, thanks for reminding me of that!

So no more signs, which is fine with me. I think I had diarrhea from some food I ate and that caused contrax which caused cervical changes and a little plug loss. Now that my belly is settled, I think we might stay where we're at for a bit longer. If I went right now, I'd lose close to $800, and we really need that money so I'm hoping to be able to continue working until the 26th. I will say that sex followed by breastfeeding (not at the same time, of course;)) can cause some serious sensations. Yeah, found that out this morning.

I opened my door yesterday to find a nice treat from my friend Sorpresa. She made me not one but two mixed CD's...one for lovin' time with Eric, one for the birth. Both full of sexy, wonderful music. I love you, Heather! Who else would recognize my appreciation for both L.L. Cool J and Frou Frou??? Now I just need to get Eric home and off the computer and lure him into my web in the bedroom.;)
I'm feeling fine today, no contrax, nothing. Back to last week, I guess. I'm still really cool with being pregnant, which is very surprising since with my other pregnancies I was dying by this point. I'm getting tired of getting on and off the floor several times a day with the kiddos so I'm trying to keep to the couch or adult sized chair during activities. It's amazing how much I've grown in size the last week or so!

I had a cloth diaper meet up this morning (it was a success! Got some used stuff for the babe) and then had a midwife appt. I had her check me and I'm still at 2cm and "favorable", whatever the heck that means. We talked about watching my carb and sugar intake the next couple of weeks to help keep the baby's weight down a little. I've gained 28 lbs. Pretty boring appt, which is just fine with me.
My nesting urge is frustrating due to the fact that other people KEEP MAKING FREAKING MESSES! Ugh, my family is so sloppy and they're killing me, for real. When I walked in the door from my appt I was bombarded with a mess of cups and plates and toys and clothes. It's annoying to clean the same stuff up all the time, especially during your 9th month of pregnancy. I'm about to start barking orders since reasoning doesn't seem to help lately. I need to practice my mean mama look to get anything done.;)

I think that "favorable" means "soft and anterior" but what do I know. Wink Barking orders might not be a bad idea. Do what you need to do.

I had a dream last night that Eric was explaining to me how the new light bulbs work and my water broke. I woke up to feel something running down my leg and got out of bed and almost to the bathroom before I realized what it was...Evening Primrose Oil.:D I had inserted a capsule right before bed and it obviously melted.
I had lots of back pressure last evening and some blood tinged mucus this morning when I got out of bed. I can explain both of those, though...the blood is probably from my internal yesterday and the back ache is from some good lovin' from my husband yesterday morning. You know you're getting old when a good sex session causes pain afterward!;) I've also had some jabbing pain in my cervix, so I guess Nappy is getting lower.

I am feeling restless and unsettled this morning, yet exhausted. Not quite sure what that means. I know I'm not looking forward to the daycare kids coming tomorrow. I feel like hiding in a cave and not being bothered for a few days. Well, with the exception of Asa, for some reason. I can't seem to get enough of him this morning (though he'd rather help Daddy do manly things in the garage right now). Maybe I'm just trying to spend the last few days with him being the youngest?

No kidding, right? It's getting pretty uncomfortable, though.

Okay, Leigh, here ya go. I'm going to put Heather's CD on my IPOD along with some other songs and just put it on random.

These are from Heather:

University/Throwing Muses
Umqokozo/Miriam Makeba
Let Go/Frou Frou
Time Version/Easy Allstars
Tive Razao/Seu Jorge
For You/Bruce Springsteen
Guitar Space-Summertime/Jerry Garcia
Staralfur Sigur ros Grisman/Tony Rice
Hush/LL Cool J
Club Tropicana/Wham!
Breath Me/Sia
Cinquante Six/Ali Farka Toure
Mupepe/Zap Mama

Here's what I've got so far. I actually just spent a couple of hours working on this and I think this is my final list. I hve no idea why I have so much Jack Johnson other than it's relaxing. And yes, those are Xmas songs from Emmylou Harris. I love her. Sorry for the format...I just copied and pasted from my list.
