I'm doing good, having some signs of getting close. I really wonder how long this baby will hang on. I've had tons of contractions since 27 weeks. At 27 weeks I could reach my cervix and I was 1 cm, and 50%, now I can't even reach it. I've had tons of mucous discharge and lots of pulling recently with my contractions. Today when I tried I felt like I could reach the front lip of the cervix, but not the whole thing to be able to tell where I was, but since it was that separated I'd guess I'm a 2-3 cm no idea on effacement since it was such a stretch to reach the edge of it. I'm planning a home birth, and have most things ready. I kinda need to get some liner for the bed as I dont' have anything to protect the sheets. (except chux pads.)

So what else do you want to know?

Not much new here, still having tons of contractions with lower back ache, heat helps, and in fact feels really good. As of Today I'm more pregnant than I've ever been.

A little history:
With my son I had PIH (not pre-e) (never really spilled protein) but I believe it was more white coat hypertension as I have spikey bp around the wrong care provider. This time I'm opting for a home birth with home check to avoid any bp problems. My bp this whole pregnancy has been excellent. Yesterday it was 120/67 no protein spilling, and everything else excellent. I'm so comfortable with my decisions this time, and so at peace with this pregnancy. Nervous about being a 2nd time mom, and all the concerns that go with that. Anyway I was induced last time at 36w 4d and had my son at 36w 6d. I'm now 37w today. I'm glad to go longer in the hopes of not having struggles this time BFing. I was hoping to either have the baby by today or wait till next wed as hubby goes out of town on Friday. So I'd now like to wait till he gets back so he has a few days with the baby. He will be back on Tuesday evening late, so we'll see if baby can wait till next wed.

I have a birth tub in my closet for this birth, as I'm planning a water birth. And I got some cloth pads to use after they baby comes. I've also got my small diapers from when Tommy was a baby, and have a ton of infant size prefolds. I'm planning on ECing with this baby too. I work part time, and am trying to wrap things up at work too. I really need to be there this week to wrap things up, but I'm mostly done.

That's about all I can think of right now.

Congrats & welcome to your lodge. I thought you were an ECer but couldn't remember. Are you planning to start right away with this LO?

Yes we're planning to EC with this one right away. We started with Tommy when he was 9 months, and he's just now starting to not have accidents.

You'll have to keep us posted on how it works for you. I started with my DS around 8 months (very part-time ECing) and he tells us when he has to poop 90% of the time when we're home, still no comfortable enough to say anything when we're out and about or at DC. I now need to really work on pees.

EC?

EC is Elimination Communication, some call it infant potty training but you're not so much PTing as you are watching for your LOs cues that they have to go to the bathroom and then you put them over the potty.

Lydia had twin boys!

William is about 4 pounds and came around 10 pm. He had trouble breathing, and Lydia called 911. He's in the NICU.

While she was performing CPR on William, Micah was born. He's around 7 lbs. He is fine, but he is also in the NICU because CPS is concerned about both babies.

I gave Lydia all our love and sympathy about these difficult circumstances regarding her joyous news. When I talked to her (4:20 am), she was still in the hospital.

Oh my goodness, she was planning a homebirth wasn't she?! I thought so, but I wonder why CPS would be involved? Grrr, she deserves ONLY happiness and congratulations for the birth of the boys, I hope their stay in the NICU is short and they are home in her arms soon!

No, she didn't know she was having twins as far as I'm aware. Did she know, Jennie? What a surprise!! It sounds like she handled it all very well! Smile

Lydia -- congrats, hun! I'm sure the CPS thing is just standard proceedure. It sounds like you did everything right and I'm sure it will all blow over in no time. Remember someone else who also had CPS in her situation that we know? They just came to the house, saw she was a good Mom, and left it be ....I'm sure that will be your situation too. They will see Tommy and all will be fine. ((HUGS)) You did great, Mama!! I can't wait to see pics of your beautiful babies!!

Julya is right. The twins were a surprise.

I'm sending all good wishes to William for his quick recovery and for CPS to do a perfunctory evaluation and leave Lydia and her family alone. Lydia is one of the most competent and caring moms I know.

Was it an unassisted birth? Sounds like it to me since the update says Lydia called 911 herself and was doing CPR, if there was a midwife I'd think she'd be the one doing those things. Maybe that's why CPS is "investigating"? I hope they decide quickly that all is well and that William is out of NICU very soon. Great job, Mama, can't wait to hear your version of things. What an incredible blessing! Congratulations Smile I just cannot imagine that kind of surprise Smile

I hope the babies are home in your arms ASAP and CPS GOES AWAY for you. In our area, the CPS thing depends upon which caseworker is assigned. Some of them are just raring to interfere and mess with parents, while others are kind and compassionate and truly do care about children.

Congrats on your little boys, Lydia!!! It's incredible that you had twins after our discussion on my midwife thinking I might have twins. What wonderful names you chose too. I will be praying for you and your family. Love you, girl!

What she said Smile

I think the size discrepancy between the boys may be part of why they are in NICU. I'm sure they want to make sure they are both doing well.

(I'm far from an expert, but I do believe that one twin being that much larger than the other may indicate twin to twin transfer syndrome, and that there can be complications for the larger twin as well. Is that right Chimmy? I know you know far more about it than I do.)
