Yay!! Welcome to your very own lodge Delia. Looking forward to sharing the next phase of this journey with you
Welcome to your lodge Delia!!
welcome to your lodge!
Welcome to your lodge! I was just thinking we needed some more lodges around here!
Welcome! I'm so excited to read about everything.
Welcome!! I was going to check and see if we had missed anyone, but it looks like I don't need to now:) Looking forward to "meeting" you!
Welcome to your lodge, Delia!
Thanks for the lodge!
I'm Delia (34) and have been married to my DH Sinyoung (32) for almost 9 years! We have one daughter, Jeena who turned 3 in January!
To get to know some of my past conception/labour/delivery, etc., I got pregnant with Jeena the first month we tried!! I had a long and boring pregnancy, lasting 41 weeks and 6 days! She came on her own, the day before I was to be induced! I had about a 9 hour labour with Jeena. It was ALL back labour and she was born in the hospital, I had an epidural and I had 4th degree tearing! !! Jeena came out sideways AND had a hand on her head. The doctor tried to turn her when she crowned but she wanted to enter the world in her own way The recovery from the tearing was the worst experience ever!! VERY painful!
We started trying for Baby #2 in January this year (did temping/charting, cervical mucous check/position, etc.) and finally got pregnant in May!! 5 weeks later, I had a miscarriage. I was obviously devastated.
We took a break for a month and then went back to trying. I became pregnant with this baby at the end of September!! The ironic/cool/strange thing is that I'm due EXACTLY one year after I had my miscarriage.
So far this pregnancy has been very boring, uneventful, nice! I like being pregnant and don't have much to complain about, even at the end with Jeena (going overdue), I wasn't complaining! This will be our last baby so I'm enjoying it as much as I can!!
I have a midwife for this pregnancy (had a family doctor who did deliveries for Jeena) and am loving the midwife experience!!! I plan on having a home birth as well!! So no pain meds, no epidural, etc.
ETA: I don't know the gender of this monkey!!! We found out with Jeena at 20 weeks and I LOVED knowing!!! DH was CONVINCED we were having a boy and that there was no way that she could be a girl!! So we found out! With this one, at the 20 week u/s, the baby had the legs crossed and the tech wouldn't 'move' the baby to check the gender...grrr!! I really can't believe I don't know!!
My DH is away right now on training for a new job. He left at the end of March to go into Basic Training for the Military Police!! So he's on his first round of training until July 3rd, so won't be here for the birth . Jeena and I are living at my Mom's and I have lots of family close now so I certainly won't be alone with a newborn and a 3.5 year old!! I think my DH was quite traumatized at Jeena's birth so he's not too negatively effected that he won't be here . Let's say that he was NOT at my shoulders for the birth, he saw everything and too much of it
Okay, I think I have rambled enough!! Feel free to ask me any questions!!!
Here's a picture of DH, Jeena and I! Jeena is also in my siggy
Jeena is such a beautiful child! You guys are a very cute family.
Your birth and recovering experience with Jeena sounds pretty rough. Hopefully this time, being at home with more with freedom to move, you will be able to have better positioning and avoid the back labor and the bad tearing, which probably resulted mostly from her coming out sideways with her hand up--it does sound like she had her own ideas about how she wanted to come into the world.
I'm glad you have felt good for both of your pregnancies. I look forward to hearing about your homebirth and finding out if it's a boy or girl (we found out with DD, but almost didn't because she was shy about it, also)
Your dh sounds just like mine! He saw WAY more than he ever wanted to. He is so happy to have a doula this time that will make sure he doesn't have to see anything he doesn't want to.
I'm looking so forward to your birth story, as I'm sure it will be such a different beautiful birth experience and recovery!
That's too bad that DH won't be there for the birth, but it's great that you have a lot of family around you. Good luck with your home birth! I can't wait to hear how it goes -- hopefully much smoother than last time!
Who are you planing on having at the birth?
Yikes, your DD's birth sounds painfull! I hope this one is much less so. Do you have names picked out for the babe? I look forward to seeing how it all goes for you. Do you think you feel more or less aprehesive about the birth knowing your DH is not going to be there?
My Mom will be on "Jeena duty", my 2 midwives, a midwife in training and a my younger sister!
We have the names all picked out and ready to go! They are in my siggy!
I think I'll be fine without my DH here. When I was labouring with Jeena, I did most of it myself, overnight. I TOLD him to sleep because we didn't know when we'd sleep again!! At Jeena's birth, I wasn't nervous, apprehensive or anything, just looked at it as a natural process that takes some time! So I'm thinking the same this time!
I had my 36 week appointment today! I have VERY boring appointments so that's a good thing!!!
Here is an XP from my June 2009 birth board
BP was great at 98/60, urine good, up 1 lb in 2 weeks (15 lbs in total), baby's heartbeat was at 134 bpm (lowest yet!!)
Last appointment I did a routine urine test and it came back as GBS+ (Had a positive urine test in January as well) so it's definitely antibiotics for me during active labour.
I was given my 'Birth Box' and in 6 days I can have my baby at home (37 weeks!).
At the moment, the baby is really low (external check on my tummy, no internal) and not posterior, so good news all around!
And here is my 36 week belly picture!!
yay for a good boring appt and you're looking good.
Hooray for boring appointments! Nice belly shots -- you look great!
Sounds like your appointment went well, and your belly pics look great!
Yeah for a nice boring appt! Great belly shots too!
:wavehello: Welcome to your lodge! I'm sitting here wincing & squirming just from reading about your DD's birth. I sure hope this one is easier on you. I'm sorry your DH won't be there for the birth, but it sounds like you have a great support team regardless, and I'm glad that you will still be able to have a home-away-from-home birth.
I'm not so good with keeping up with the lodges, but I had to poke my nose in just to give you a word of encouragement.
I had a 4th degree tear with my first (in hospital) and went on to have my second baby at home with just the teensiest scratch. I totally feel your pain on the recovery from such a serious tear and I personally was so worried about a repeat. (Although it's pretty obvious in your case why the tear happened, with her choice of positioning!) So, just wanted to advise you to not worry too much about it, and that it's very possible you'll be able to avoid that pain the second time around - and let's hope this baby is properly positioned!
Sorry, I am a little behind....welcome to your lodge!
I had my 37 week appointment and another boring one for the books
Measuring 36.5 cm. I have been measuring behind for awhile and this is the closest I've come to measuring 'on target'. The midwives aren't concerned (neither am I!), just saying that maybe a small baby is coming Can't complain there!!
HB was 151, gained 3 lbs in a week  but the midwife of course says that it's baby weight, not that I ate too much over the weekend!!
The baby is head down, and nice and low but posterior. Last week the baby was head down and transverse. So she said that the baby will keep flip flopping around but hopefully end its flip flopping NOT posterior!!
Since I am 37 weeks, I can now deliver at home!!!! I am to call them when contractions are 5 minutes apart, for 1 minute.
So there's an update! I had maternity pictures done today too!! Talk about making a pregnant woman feel good!! I felt like a model with my big old belly!!
Great appointment! Boo for the Pos. baby though. Both were for me and it wasn't fun. Check out http://spinningbabies.simplwebsite.com/ Might find some useful info there. Make sure you show us a pic when you get them.....busting to see;)
I've been measuring "behind" the whole time, too. Anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks behind, actually. I'm with you, though. So long as the baby's healthy, I'm not going to complain about a small baby!
Yay, 37 weeks! I know you must be so excited to officially be able to homebirth now.
Thanks for the update!
yay for a boring appt and hopefully baby will be facing the right way by the time B-day comes.
Yay for being 37 weeks and being a "go" for your homebirth! I think checking out the spinning babies stuff is a good idea--I think you'll have a much better time laboring with a baby that is not posterior.
Yeah for the great appt. Hopefully the baby will turn for you. I'm hoping my OB can tell me today whether the baby is posterior or not. DD was posterior at delivery and that wasn't fun!
You have to post those pics when they are available!!
How are you doing, Delia? Do you feel like you're ready for this baby to come? Have you had any success getting the LO to get out of the posterior position?
Hey Delia!! Hope Mr J is being kind in last few weeks;) Hope s/he has flipped round. ((((hugs))))
Yep I'm as ready as someone can be!!! Certainly not ready for the lack of sleep but who is?! Today I washed clothes/receiving blankets/washcloths, etc. Really not too much else to do, just waiting for the time to come!!
I'm not sure if I've been successful about the position but we'll see tomorrow!! I have my Midwife Home Visit tomorrow morning so hopefully she'll give me some good news!! I bought an exercise ball and have been sitting on that doing some knitting (that's a sight to see.. hahah) and the baby's bum is to the left now. When the baby's head was on the right side, that is when the MW said it was posterior, so hopefully it being on the left, means something good!!
I've been feeling lots of 'pressure' yesterday and today but don't think it's anything. I don't remember feeling this when I was near the end with Jeena, but that was also so long ago too!! So maybe the baby has dropped? Did tons of walking yesterday so it might be just from that too!
Mr. J.... you're funny/evil The baby is treating his/her Mama just fine!!
I'll update again tomorrow after my MW appointments!!
Had my 38 week appointment and all is well.
Good BP, urine fine, HB 151, didn't get weighed since it was a home visit I'm still measuring small, at 36.5 cm but the MW is not concerned since I have been measuring small all along! She predicts that the baby will be in the lower 7 lb. range so that's okay with me
And the baby is ANTERIOR today!!!!! She told me to make sure I sit up straight and sit on the ball a lot and that of course the baby can change positions but if I keep up with the right postures, etc. that is the most favourable for the anterior position we want!
That's great news that the baby is anterior!!! Stay put baby!!
That's good news that baby is positioned well! Hope s/he stays that way.
Yay for a good appointment, and I'm glad your baby is anterior now, I hope he/she stays that way!

::wolf whistle:: Look out Sy!!!
Yay for anterior bubba too :clappy:
All the best at todays MW check. Hope the LO is still ant. and that you are keeping well. ((((hugs))))
Thanks Steph.. my ultimate stalker
I don't have my 39 weeks appointment until Wednesday so will update then! I'm sure it will be just as boring as every other appointment because there's nothing going on!!
On Saturday night I had some 'strange pains' that I could kind of time, so maybe they were contractions?! With Jeena, I had all back labour, so I have NO idea what 'normal' contractions feel like!! So Saturday night there were 4 'waves' of discomfort really low but nothing really painful... guess my body has started practice sessions
Ooohhh sounds like things are moveing! You will most likely feel real contractions start to get much stronger as the day get near. I know I kept saying that my most 3rd labor was going to sneek up on me because I had been haveing so many contractions, and it kind of did. Your so close, I can't wait to see this little one! Love the names you have picked out by the way, and your siggy pic, can't wait till the babe is in the pictures!
I had my 39 week appointment and I thought it was going to be exciting but it wasn't
This morning I was walking and felt pressure and maybe what was contractions (timeable 'waves' of 'pain'). I have NO idea what contractions feel like, so maybe it was. Last night my feet were VERY swollen and I woke up this morning and they were still swollen.
Get to my appointment and here are the stats:
- Urine is fine (I had Pre-e running through my head because of my swollen feet!!)
- BP is fine
- Lost 2 pounds, so at 16 lbs total gain
- Baby's head is VERY low (I think I felt it drop the other night!). She couldn't find the top of the head (externally) and said that the head is very secure and not wiggly like it was last time!!!
- Heartbeat was 160 BPM
- Measuring 38.5 cm, so almost catching up! (Last week at 38 weeks, I was measuring 35.5 cm)
- Baby is ANTERIOR!!!
So it seems that all is going well!! Just have to wait and see when the baby decides to come! I'm feeling good, no complaints!
sounds like a good appt overall.
Glad your appointment went well, Delia! I think you are getting close!
Happy due date Delia!!! You are doing an awesome job at making this LO comfy. Sending all my (((((((((((((((((get out))))))))))))))))) vibes your way.
:bigarmhug: Remembering J2 aswell :bigarmhug:
Happy due date! How are you feeling today?
