What was the outcome with the hearing aids???

I hope your neck and back are improving.

I have some blue iris to bring you when I visit. I need to pack!

I’m counting down… 3.5 days of work left. Yippee!

    Update on my Chiropractor appointment:
I left there with a clearer head than I’ve had for months. She thinks that I was getting all sorts of headaches and nausea from my neck and she did a bunch of stuff to it… Lo and behold, I am feeling better! Why didn’t I try that months ago? I’m starting to think that it was a low grade headache/neckache that I didn’t realize I had. It’s not gone, but it’s WAY better, and I haven’t been near as exhausted since then either.

Last night, though, we all went for a walk in the ravine near our house. We didn’t go very far when my middle back started just killing me. I wasn’t even carrying Ivy, just her sippy cup. I got home and put her to bed while DH read to DSS, then just went and lay down. It feels better this morning, thank goodness.

Today was DSS’s first day at school. Grade 6! He’s excited, for sure. He was ready super early this morning too, which was nice too. He did need some help getting organized, but that is fine for the first couple days. We made a deal with him that if he can get himself organized and out the door with no nagging, complaints or reminding until the end of October that he can have his radio and CD player back… You see, we got him an alarm clock for Christmas last year to help him get himself organized before school, and it has a radio and CD player attached. What ended up happening was that he moved it downstairs so he could use the radio, but then he never brought it back up for its intended purpose – getting him up in the morning. I brought it back many times, reset the time for him, etc… no luck despite many requests and warnings. So one day, it just disappeared. Now it’s a new year so we’ll try again. This time, he starts out with just the alarm clock, and he gets to earn the radio and CD player once he shows he is responsible.

    Good news!

We blew off the excess moisture we could see, took the ear moulds off, then left them on the counter for the day. When I got home from work, I called the nearest pharmacy and asked if they had any extra desiccants (the little packages in pill bottles to keep things dry). I went and picked some up. In the meantime, it occurred to me that a diaper is a pretty good desiccant, so I put the hearing aids in a diaper in a ziplock bag. It also occurred to me that putting them in a container of rice would be a good plan too. Later that night, it occurred to DH that when he got the new hearing aids in January that they gave him a special “drying out” container with a sealed desiccant in it. We then put the hearing aids in the special jar with the desiccants and left them overnight. They worked the next morning! Woohoo! In fact DSS said they worked better (huh???!?!?).

Cool! And some Narcissuses? I hope so. I need to dig up a million spreading daisies to find some of my plants… I should probably dig up some poppies too… there’s enough to seed the entire neighbourhood!

MW home visit Friday! I don’t know if DH will be there, though. He’s going to be out of town for the day. But then it’s the long weekend! YAY!

The narcissus are arriving by mail from the shop. The iris come from me.(two kinds) Also, a whole library of books for Ivy, an odd book for Skyler, knits, etc.

Cousin's store is sending your brother a new bike for his birthday.

I'm so happy about the hearing aids and your aching body's improvements! What a relief!

I wish that DSS felt the same way! I think he goes back and forth between really wanting to wear them so he can hear, and really not wanting to wear them because they are annoying and he has to keep track of them… On the other hand, he’s 11 and should be able to keep track of them.

Well, of course he "should" be able to.... My 12 year old DD can't keep track of anything. I swear some days it's like the lights on, but no ones home!!

I'm very happy to hear that you were able to save the hearing aids, if for no other reason than not having to deal with his mother

Well I have to pay $1600 for them out of my own pocket so it makes it much easier to keep track.
