The story of how you met your DH and your relationship was fun to read. Congratulations on your second baby and I hope you have a wonderful natural birth this time!

Wow Amanda, what a story of how you met your DH! What did your parents think of you getting engaged at 16 over the internet?

Can't believe you have a lodge already but I guess the Feb babies are starting now!

My Dad raised me by himself - I was taken from my mother at birth as the courts had ruled her an unfit parent. His reaction was that he most definitely didn't take me seriously, at all. I think when James came down for his visit in 2004 he started too - heck, he was nice enough to even come to dinner and didn't pull out or show James any of his guns, so it was a good start. LOL

Thank you, its definitely a good memory, and still makes me giggle. My injury definitely adds quite a bit of pain to my pregnancies. The nerves are even easier to pinch because I have to take it easy and then you add swelling, etc. The damaged vertebrae definitely cause some back labour too, which I'm not looking forward to at all.

Honestly I think the worst was that the epidural I had with Patrick took well over a dozen attempts to get in, and subsequently I had equally many bruises and sore spots right over damaged areas. Add in months of bedrest and muscle deterioration and it makes recovery difficult and painful to say the least. Which is why I'm so happy to have avoided bedrest this time around and am pushing for a natural birth. And actually taking care of a toddler has helped keep my muscles somewhat in check too. At least its one good aspect of the constant running around.

I had my rescheduled appt today - cause, ya know, I've got nothing better to do at all these days.

I should explain that every appt with my OB is a bare minimum 3-4 hour wait. Usually I can call ahead and they'll tell me when to come in. This week was supposed to be Wednesday, but I was there until 8pm, then scheduled for today instead as I still had a few ladies ahead of me. Saturdays the phones are turned off, so your appt time is when you have to come in - I was immediately bumped to 5:15, and I got in at 7:30. That alone makes for a tired, and frankly hungry day. He's one of the top three OBs in the province and deals with borderline/high risk quite a bit, but oy, if I could see anybody else sometimes...

I have two due dates, my LMP, and when I know I conceived - my cycles are not at all regular, and the ultrasounds/bloodwork confirm my dating over my LMP. All the same, my doctor likes to keep both on record. The first puts me at Jan 22nd - 38+2, the latter the 27th - 37+3. Confusing, much!

It went okay, despite the long wait - given my early due date they didn't want to let me leave and just come back for next week's appt - which is Wed. *sigh* Personally, I feel like what's the worst that would happen at this point? I go into labour? Meh, but fine.

My BP is at an all time PG high - 113/72. And I lost 5 pounds - Since Wednesday! Guarantee its all water, but still, that was a shocker. Contractions have been feeling different since about noon today (staying around every 10-15 minutes), I can tell Daniel has flipped, he had his feet/knees or something in my spine since then, and lost bits of my plug three times today. OB thinks things are definitely in motion, if not labour. Still at 2cm, but a bit softer than last appt. And my arms/legs are very very full of fluid - supposed to rest and elevate as much as possible, but with a toddler... I don't see it happening much except naps/bedtime.

Blasted contractions just stopped last night, no warning or anything, completely regular then bam, nothin. At the same time I felt D's foot move out of my spine too, so I wonder if it wasn't causing the contractions?? Bugger it all!

Its 0 degrees out today (32F), I think I'm going to take Patrick on as long a walk as I can manage - even if its just to the end of the driveway. We could both use the fresh air anyway - I'll be so happy when winter is over.

I forgot to add about my appt that my OB was actually the nicest I've ever seen him last night, he thanked me for rescheduling, and said I looked "quite uncomfortable" - I was amazed he noticed. Haha. I can understand why everyone rates him as highly as they do, but most times you can tell he just fits too much into his schedule that he can't take the time he needs to with his patients. The other two in the office work 50-60 hour weeks, he works 80-90, and it shows.

Been in a bit of a funk since my last OB appt. I was in hospital the night before because Daniel failed the kick count and took a bit to wake up even there. My OB has decided to go by my LMP instead of blood/ultrasound/charting, which is my 22nd due date.

He's given me until the 25th to go on my own - but I know that's 2 days before I'm actually due. I know its in the best interest of Daniel, and I understand that, but I just feel... ignored. Its silly, but the pregnant part of me wants it acknowledged that he's going to schedule an induction before I'm due. Its not the induction that bothers me, its changing my due date. Weirdness, I know.

So, now I have to put some effort into getting this baby out. He's head down and smack against my cervix, so at least that's something.

The OB had one of his students with him for my appt, poor man does not in any way seem like he wants to go with an OB specialty. LOL I was asked and agreed to let them both do an exam, so the student could get some practice.

    He needs practice. LMAO!

OB: She's just a bit open there, could you tell?
Student: Yeah, yeah, I could tell.
OB: But the head, its right there too. Could you feel it? I mean, it was literally just past her cervix.
Student: Uh, no.... I felt that she was open, but I didn't, ya know, push around or anything.

    Poor, poor, poor man.
