WELCOME TO YOUR LODGE!!!
Oh yay! Welcome to your lodge!!
Hi there! Wow, Alicia you're up early. Thanks for starting this. I've got a quiet day at work today, so I'll be back with an update soon!

After stalking, lurking and posting around here for so long, I am so thrilled to have a lodge. I’m looking forward to joining the ranks of NCB mamas.
I’m Amy, just shy of 36. (ow!)<O:p</O:p

It was always assumed in my family that I’d be The Breeder. I was the one who took care of a brood of dolls and brought home every stray animal I found. When I was 5, I dressed up as a “mom” for Halloween – large sunglasses, clip on hoop earrings, a sequined handbag, a spritz of Shalimar – hey, it was the 70s and my mom was so groovy.<O:p

DH (Patrick) and I met in a bar over a pint of Guinness when we were both living in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comhttp://www.pregnancy.org/bulletinboa...1:City 0? alt=Washington DC. We dated for a short while, bought a house and moved to <ST1:pBaltimore, MD, then got married. I had been hitting the snooze button on my biological alarm clock for years. It was finally the right time, but it didn’t happen for us. Fast forward a few years – IVF saves the day. Am I glad we did it? Heck yeah. Would I do it again? I’m not sure. I’m so thankful to have this baby; I don’t want to test the fertility gods by asking for another. <O:p

On our way to the doc for our 21 week u/s, we heard Van Morrison’s “St. Dominic’s Preview” on the radio. We decided right then that if it was a boy, he’d be Dominic. The second the sonographer put the wand on my belly – there he was in all his glory. No doubt, he was a Dominic. Dominic Francis (insert very Irish last name here). My mother-in-law says he could be a priest with that name. I relish the day I tell her we’re not baptizing him… but that’s another post.<O:p

More to come…
Here we are. DH had just gotten back from the middle east - don't mind the beard.

Thanks for reading. Looking forward to sharing all the gory details.<O:p

Congrats on your lodge! I can't wait to follow you and all the details of these last weeks. I love your pic - it makes me smile.
Congrats on your lodge and getting to 36 weeks! Your intro is great and I'm curious to hear a bit about the MIL and baptism. Sounds like some back story there that I may be able to relate to with my MIL! LOL!
I look forward to following your journey.
welcome to your lodge! Sometimes you just know with a name, that great! Dominic is on our list be we are still undecided.
LOL! I tried to talk DH into "Seamus" but no dice! My family is VERY Irish, I even hated giving up my last name when I got married to DH#2 (DH#1 had and equally Irish last name, so it wasn't so bad.)
How has everything been so far?
I love Seamus! DH already has a nephew with that name so it was out for us. :stpatricks:
Things are going swimmingly well. I've had a relatively uneventful pregnancy with lots of energy and very little discomfort. Maybe I'll save my hemorrhoid stories for later ;-)
I'm just gearing up mentally now. I scribble down mantras when I see/hear them. Trying to do some positive mental imaging and working on Hypnobabies. Getting my nest all together and stocking it with all my favorite things. The baby's room is all set. It no longer smells like paint, but of fresh diapers and baby lotion. I have no fear of what's to come - only excitement.
I had my home visit last night and after the midwives left, I realized that for the large majority of my labor, DH and I will be alone. Just the two of us in our favorite place - home. He's ready; I'm ready. Hopefully Dominic is getting ready too.
I need to make some ipod play lists for the labor and birth. Is it wrong to welcome our first child into the world to Led Zeppelin?
