Well, nothing exciting going on. I went to a bluegrass concert Friday night and it was great. Yesterday was another lazy Saturday of just hanging around the house, got some cleaning done, picked out some crape myrtles from a local nursery to plant in the yard and on the driveway (DH planted them). It's amazing what a few bushes can add to a place.
This week will be a mite slow since I am not working. I am going to have to think of things to keep DS and I busy so that I don't just sit around waiting for a contraction . It's not going to be very hot, so I'm sure we'll be outside quite a bit.
And now for a 39 week belly shot:
Try to enjoy this last little bit with just your son, it really does change things so much with a baby. KUP on your adventures this week and enjoy your time off!
Oooops, I spaced telling you that you look GREAT! Cute little belly there
I have a Dr. appt today. I'll let you girls know how it goes.
Sunday I went to church and found out a friend of mine tested positive for the Type A flu. Around here they are saying if you test positive for the Type A flu, it is most certainly the H1N1 virus as it's the only Type A flu circulating right now. I wasn't around her, but I was around her kids and her grandkids who were with her the night she tested positive. Needless to say, I have been avoiding being around their family just in case anyone else comes down with the flu. I don't care what type of flu it is, I just don't want to catch it or have it going through our family when we bring a newborn home.
DH has been home the past few days. He watched Truman for me while I got a pedicure (probably the last one I will get for a LONG time). My poor cracked heels needed it. Now that I think about it, I should've asked the lady to message the pressure points in my ankles that are supposed to stimulate contractions....
I hope you don't end up catching the flu from your friend's family. That's nice that you got to have some time to yourself and get a pedicure.
Nothing too exciting at my appt. My BP is still good (YAY!), baby is still measuring and sounding good. I am "a good" 3 cm dilated and 75% effaced. She doesn't think I will make it to next weeks appt (her words were "I think you'll go in the next couple of days"), but I've known people who walk around 3 cm dilated for a week or two. Since DS came on his EDD, it wouldn't surprise me if she came within a few days of her EDD (early or late).
So, I'm trying not to get too excited, but there is definitely an end in sight! I probably should take advantage of any time I get to sleep over the next few days
She mentioned doing an amniotomy next week if I don't go on my own and have dilated to 4. But I really think it would be better to wait until I am least 41 weeks to artificially start things. Plus, I would be on a timeline once my water was broken. With DS, I was dilated to 4 cm when the OB broke my water. My contractions spaced out, got much more painful, and I didn't dilate any more in the next several hours until Pit was started. Has anyone had labor induced by amniotomy alone? If I get to the point where I need to be induced, I would rather try it than starting Pitocin right off.
But I am praying that I won't have to worry about that
I'm guessing your very close! So exciteing for you hun I can't wait to hear the story and see you little one. Have some fun with your DS while it's just you and him, you'll be glad you did!
Beth, I have been thinking the same thing, that if I end up getting far enough dialated that they don't want me to go home, but I'm not in active labor, I would much rather have them break my water than take pit. No idea whether it would work or not, but at least you'd have tried, right? Only 2 days til your due date! How are you feeling today?
Well I guess that answers my question! This was just posted on the September BB:
I just got a text from Beth:
"Hey, I am in L&D. 6 cm, 100%. Been here since 7am and was 5 then. Getting discouraged: pray this baby comes quickly"
Yay! She is in labour two days before her due date. I asked her how she is handling the pain as she is planning to go all natural this time around.
Her response was: "So far, no epidural. Its not horrible yet. Haven't been checked since 10:30. Water hasn't broken yet."
Sending lots of ELVs your way Beth! I can't wait to hear that you are holding your precious baby girl in your arms. I am so excited for you!!!
I will update as I hear from her again.
