Thanks so much for the pictures! It's fun to get to "know" the lodge ownerYou look great in all the pics and I can't believe you were running like that at 5 months along!! KUP on how things are going for you guys.
Tell us more – are you planning to birth in Alabama, or at home?
We're having him in Tennessee - about 20 minutes from home in AL. My MW has a cabin/clinic, and it's the next best thing.
Do you know if it’s a boy or girl?
It's a boy!
And the weird thing is, we ended up springing for the 4D ultrasound just to find out his gender - he was shy at the US previous to that, hid himself in me for 6 months, and he's still quite sneaky. At last week's MW appt, he hid behind the placenta and made getting his HB on the Doppler a real pain. We mainly found out the gender as a bonding thing - finding out so far along, it was a big shock, and it "personalized" him for us and our families to know his name and be able to call him that.
Do you have any name ideas?
His name is Benjamin William Mymaidenname Husbandslastname. (Which you can probably tell from the US pics above - I go by a hyphenated name, and we decided years ago that our kids would have both names.)
Are you planning to use cloth/disposable/EC? Why?
We're using cloth, although we'll be on sposies through the meconium/umbilical cord/first few weeks phase. I've built up a pretty good stash of one-size dipes & cloth wipes that probably won't fit in the newborn phase, but should fit somewhere in the 4-6 week range. I'm still debating picking up some Kissaluvs 0s to use through then - or possibly the XS bumGenius bamboo dipes. It would be a break-even proposition financially to buy those or buy boxes of Pampers. I can't decide. Anyone have any input?
Have you chosen any support people for the birth yet? Who and why?
My husband will be there with the midwife, and possibly one or more of the MW's assistants (who I've met and love). We hope DH will be able to catch Ben when he's born.
Outside of that, I love my mom/MIL but have no desire to have them there. No medical training + not there at the conception = not there at the birth.
Are your parents supportive of a midwife/homebirth (if you are having a homebirth…)
My mom wanted a homebirth with my sister almost 20 years ago, after having the hospital experience she had with me. Unfortunately, there weren't as many MWs in practice nearby and her options were really limited. My dad thinks I am very hardcore punk for attempting a natural birth - his words, not mine.![]()
My ILs think I'm crazy, but that's OK - I think they're bonkers, too. My MIL forced my SIL into a natural birth with her 2nd baby "so she wouldn't want any more" - as if NCB is a punishment. SIL had another baby after that, so I don't think it worked.
I had the weirdest dream last night - the latest in a string of crazy dreams. In the dream I was bleeding - and oddly enough, I woke up bleeding, not really badly but with a big fat chunk of mucus plug coming out. Which could mean anything or everything or nothing - LOL.
I'm having contractions pretty regularly, but they aren't awful at all. We're going to time them for the next little bit, then head to the MW for a check either way.
I hope everything is okay. KUP!

~~Missing my lost love Isaac, gone at 14 weeks but in my heart forever~~
You mentioned Provera .... my daughter-in-law is due May 15th. She has not had a period since August 2007She gave birth (naturally) on May 13th 2008 and never got a period after him. She and my son started talking about "the next baby" last August but because of no period she went to the doctor in September. They did do a pregnancy test and it was negative. They put her on Provera! Still no period and by now she is having wierd cravings so she takes another test. Her bfp was around October 14th. She went in for an ultrasound November 18th to figure out how far along and she was about 16 weeks and found out it was a girl. She had another detailed ultrasound at 20 weeks and everything checked out great. My question is, what are the dangers of Provera while pregnant? Signed .... a very concerned gramma!
Well... from the looks of your birthing board posts, you are currently in labor!!! Hope all goes smoothely!
