Thnigs sound like they are going well. Hopefully the engourgement settles down. Have you tried cabbage leaves. I nenver tried it, but it is supposed to help. Glad she is still excited about her brother. Hawkes has been the same way and I hope it continues.

Had a rough night last night. Not with the babem but with Alexa. I woke up just before midnight & heard her in her room. I could tell she wasn't going ti put herself back to sleep, so I woke up DH. He went in to lie down with her & she started coughing, like coughing/gagging I'm going to throw up. He went to sit her up & realized she had already puked all over her pillow, the bed, etc -- in her hair, on her jammies, everywhere. Poor kid was so freaked out. DH took her to the bathroom & gave her a shower -- she was so upset she was just trembling. Luckily Preston slept through all of this so I was able to cuddle her & dry her hair before he woke to nurse. We all sat out on the couch. DH cuddled her & she watched Harold and the Purple Crayon and I nursed Preston. I don't think she's sick; we had been positive she had bad allergies so I don't know if she was stuffed up or had drainage or what. It broke my heart to see her so freaked out though! It is supposed to rain all next week so if it is allergies hopefully they'll clear up. DH slept with her the rest of the night & I'm hoping he will tonight too.

I'm not as engorged today so that is nice. I can usually only get him to nurse off one side. I'm not too worried about that bc Alexa was the same way, but it would be nice if I could get him to nurse both sides.

Holy cow, I can't believe he'll be a week old tomorrow

Sorry you had such a rough night! Poor Alexa! I always throw up when I am sick or my sinuses/allergies are bad - I have since I was little. I use a neti pot, a neil med sinus wash or the saline spray daily lately and it has helped tremendously! I don't know if she will tolerate that but if she will it's worth a shot. You can also try raising the head of her mattress up with some pillow underneath it - it helps your sinuses drain better so it's not dripping down your throat.

Aw, poor girl! Thank goodness your DH was home and could help out with her. I can just picture all of you sitting there on the couch in the middle of the night watching Harold. You do what you need to do, right? I hope tonight goes better

Well Alexa definitely had a cold, but luckily she seems to be on the tail end of it. Poor kid. DH has been sleeping with her each night. Last night was the first night in a few that she didn't wake up coughing & throw up.

Preston has his check-up on Thursday. I'm really curious to see how he's gaining. Even though I *know* he is exhibiting all the signs of getting enough milk, I'd still like to see the results on the scale. I guess BFing a newborn is a bit of a mind game even the 2nd time around.

Connie, thanks for asking...Alexa had a really rough time. Actually DH ended up going home about 5 or 6ish the morning Preston was born bc she was hysterical & wouldn't calm down for my sis . They came back later, but he ended up spending the 2nd night at home with her. She did great with my sis the whole time, just not with sleeping. When she woke up she was really upset that Mommy & Daddy weren't there.

Sorry to hear she is sick and she did not do well overnight. This is one of the reasosn I hope to either go into labor after he is asleep or during the day. I just do not want someone else to have to put him to sleep. Have you tried a humidifier in her room? That often helps DS when he is congested.

Pumping for the engorgement is a good idea. You can also get those heat packs for your bbs which help soften them up. I didn't know that hard lumpy bbs meant engorgement last time and ended up with bad mastitis, 102 fever...yucky.

Poor Alexa. Zoe has had several bad colds and now she has seasonal allergies. Luckily, she only puked once, but one of her friends at school was waking up his parents coughing and puking all last week. Have you talked to her doctor about allergies? I put a call in to ours today, so I'll pass along any info I get on ways to relieve it or any safe OTC meds.

We need to pick up a humidifier for her room. When I was a kid I had to sleep with a humidifier almost every night, sick or not. As far as OTC meds, a few friends had recommended some but the pedi said nothing for colds since she was too young. That's what I thought, but figured it was worth a call. She seems to be doing a lot better today, still a little coughy and sneezy but nothing like before.

DH got an email yesterday (and just opened it this morning) and has an interview for a position closer to home. Same company, would just be transferring. We are REALLY hoping he gets this position so send us some good luck

Preston was super gassy last night. Poor kid was so uncomfortable. I'm trying to remember if it's what I maybe ate the night before or what I had yesterday afternooon. I had a chai tea latte (the first caffeine I've had since having him) so I'm sort of hoping it wasn't that .

It's supposed to be almost 70 degrees out today so I think we'll try to take Alexa to the park. I'm going to try out the Moby and see if I can get the hang of it, haven't gotten around to it yet!

You should try and get us a picture! I'm so glad to hear she's feeling better finally. My oldest DS has puked every time he's had a cold since he was a little tiny guy......I'm not sure when that will go away. KUP on how Preston is growing after you find out tomorrow! Sending all my good interview vibes your way, that would be awesome for your family
