Hmm..where do I begin??
Ryan and I met while we were both working at the same grocery store. Even though we did go to high school for one year together, I was a freshman and he was a senior..so I don’t really remember him that well. I had been working there for about a 1.5 years before we started talking “like that”. We had been friends and it never dawned on me that someone who was out of high school would like me. I was 17 and he had just turned 21. A mutual friend of ours, who was also what they call a “PIC” (person in charge) called me into the office and I thought I was in trouble. He randomly tells me that there is someone in the store that is really interested in me..he then proceeds to tell me I have 3 guesses (sounds like he is some kind of genie-hahaha) so I throw out 2 guesses and I was wrong on both..I sat for a good minute thinking who would tell him that they are interested..so I decided to throw our Ryan’s name..and I was right..lets just say I begged a different friend of ours for his phone number and called him up J..rest is history.
Fast forward to August of 2006, we had been engaged for 3 months and were getting married in October. I found out I was pregnant and we were both really happy but really nervous, as we really wanted to be married before we had kids (it wasn’t a big deal since it was 2 months away)..a few weeks later I ended up having my first miscarriage. We were both so devastated but knew that in just a few weeks we were getting married and whenever we wanted to try we would. I ended up having a D&C with that miscarriage so we had to wait 3 months before we could try. We weren’t really trying but we weren’t preventing and in January we found we were expecting again..again we were so happy and thrilled and thought it couldn’t happen twice! Well the next month at 7.5 weeks pregnant we lost that baby also..doctors couldn’t give me any reason why this was happening. I was only 21, how could I have lost 2 pregnancies in 5 months? So that March we started actively trying and with very irregular cycles and no success I went to see a fertility specialist in August. I was diagnosed with PCOS, which I had figured I had all along. In October I started Clomid and found the right dose that worked for us..and 3 failed cycles I had just about had it and decided I could not afford the monthly ultrasounds that came along with Clomid..so January was going to be our last month on this and we would try other alternatives. Well I am so happy we didn’t have to go that route because the last cycle worked and I didn’t need the usual HCG injection that you need in order to ovulate..I did that part all on my own!
In April we found out we were having a boy and we couldn’t be happier! We are going to name him Luke Patrick/Ryan (not sure on middle name). We are due October 4th and will be delivering at a hospital here in Seattle and they are thankfully NCB friendly! I always thought I would get the epidural because that is what is “normal” from what everyone tells me and TV shows/movies. After doing some research and also attending my childbirthing classes..I am making the decision to go natural..I am still a little afraid of the “unknown”, not necessarily with NCB but just childbirth in general..pain wise, etc..etc.. but I know I can do it and it is what is best for both myself and for our little guy!
I have a great husband who backs me up 100% and we are so excited to meet our son!!
