Cute belly! And I agree with Vanessa about the doctor. He may be totally nice but sometimes they DO, do things without asking. I have had many people say they got an episiotomy without the doctor even saying that is what they were doing, so just be clear with him about it, they don't always ask.

i understand about the doc. i really trust my doc. she was amazing for ds's birth as were the nurses. i asked her about a birthplan and we discussed everything i felt i needed to ask. i am chosing not to write a birthplan. the nurses basically asked every question last time that i would have covered on the plan and the hosp. i am delivering at is very pro family bonding early/baby straight to the chest etc. etc. Maybe this will effect our birth maybe it won't. anyway sorry to go off on me, i just wanted to say i understand where you are coming from and i think it's great you have a doc you can trust and will be surrounded by others that you trust as well!

Magali - that's so awesome that you have a different look at doctors than most of us do. I trust my doc as well... but like you, it's the nurses I'm really worried about. You hear so maby horror stories.. aghhh.
I hope you get a chance to talk your walk with the pups today. DH and I LOVE looking at all your puppy photos out on flickr. Of course he has puppy envy and now wants to get another dog...joy

My Birth Lodge
Just checking in on my fellow Alaskan
Vanessa your neighboor from up North is doing good....
no BH or contractions.... (I kind of want some...) just some light cramping and discomfort when I walk (up hill mostly)....
My Doula e-mailed me and she is busy with Maya my yoga teacher who is in early labor for over 48hrs now... she asked me to wait to go into labor !!! I told her I think there is no chance soon I'll have that baby in my arms.....
I have a DUMB questions ladies....
Doctor told me I am closed up but 70% effaced... I checked online and I figure out what Effaced mean but HOW CAN I BE SO MUCH EFFACED AND CLOSED UP...
I had been doing some squat to HELP
DTD has nothing to do with the opening right ??? since we are talking about "bones" separating to let baby go out... right ????
OR DO I NEED TO RAPE DH SEVERAL TIMES A DAY ?????
I don't think I can answer your question very well. But effacing or thining of your cervix is one thing that needs to be done and then opening and that can be aided by the baby's head or bag of waters. I don't think it has anything to do with your bones - that is more for helping the baby threw the canal. Raping dh will help because of the prostaglandins in the ejaculate. It is a good thing to be so effaced it means that you are close and you can open up very fast when needed.

I'm glad your doing well, and thinning of your cervix is a great start! Dialation has nothing to do with bones and can (in people like me) happen almost entirely after effacment. In fact I was only 1cm and about 85% effaced at 40 weeks with DD. When I got to the hospital I was still only 3cm but 95% effaced and it was only a matter of 3 or 4 hours before she was born. Effaceing too my understanding is the long part and that does seem to ring true for me, I efface before labor and the dialation doesn't seem to take long In other words go get your hubby!! My midwife said to have as much sex as we can in the last 2 months of pregnancy you don't have that long left so you better make up for lost time.
Try and have fun Let us know if it helps in the morning!
NOTHING happen this morning or today !!
My Doula e-mailed me and my friend and Yoga teacher who had been on early labor since Thursday.... had a MARVELOUS baby boy at home this morning...
My doula is tired but very happy !!! I told her I gave her a week to recover then I am ready
on an other not nice experience today!!
I went to town today to try to choose a Family doctor !!!
WOW really of American medical system hit me in the face…
I had 5 questions to ask…
The 2 doctors referred by friends both work in the same clinic…
First the receptionist told me they have “close practice” then I told her why I wanted to see them for 5mn max… she didn’t got it she was thinking I was looking for someone to deliver my baby… I told her no I have my OB already then she ask me “why to you want to ask them questions” I told her “to make sure I like them and we are on the same ball for some issues” then she went in the back to talk to someone came back with a nasty look… and says “well I can schedule a consult appt but you will have to pay for it…” I told her I have 2 insurances…. Then I told her I leave far away I would like to see them both same day if possible she said NO WAY !!!
So I said whatever book me……
Then I got two appt on two different days… I asked her “but what is the deal with the close practice” she told me well when you decide which one you like you will have to fill up a referral and see if they accept you as new CLIENT !!!
WHAT IS GOING ON….
I left so mad……
I talked to my DH and explained hil what happen…. And told him my OB works with a CNM who is also a FNP… I know her she is super nice and she is in a private practice…. So I am calling my OB office tomorrow ask to see her for my weekly appt (since my OB is in Hawaii) and ask her about been our family doctor… and I will see my OB closer to my due date instead of the day he gets back and is fully overbooked….
I JUST CAN’T GET OVER HOW COMPLICATED IT IS TO SEE A DOCTOR FOR 5mn…. AND HOW THAT PARTICULAR CLINIC TREATED ME….
Sorry I haven’t been raised here and never deal with medical services until I got PG… I have friend MD in the ER and only couple of times we call them private and ask for prescriptions but they did it as friends to friends….
