A receptionist when I called said she was going into teaching, but she (the midwife) never said anything and the letter I got in the mail never said anything (I didn't get the letter until the afternoon of my 32 week appt, which was also her last day but I didn't schedule with her that day since I wanted to get to know the other midwife). So I'm still not sure. I am part of an attachment parenting group in my area and a lot of them know about the midwives in the area and even when I asked about it with them I got a lot of surprised people and no answers. We have no local school for midwifery, the closest is in Michigan from what I've seen (I'm in N. Wisconsin) so it doesn't make sense.
I am feeling a little better as the day progresses. And, I've been a little worried about baby being transverse or breech the last few days and today he got the hiccups and I can tell he's definitely head down, so that's a bonus!

Ah, hiccups around the cervix. I know it well.

That's very strange about your midwife, though. I'm glad you at least have another one you can go to and hopefully she'll be available when you birth.

Happy to have read your intro and got to know a little more about your previous experience.

I haven't had too much to update about, which is a good thing but I had my 34 week appointment today.
Everything looked good overall, and she did my GBS swab and checked my cervix. Which is only 1cm dilated! She said his head is low but she can still push it back up, which is normal for a 3rd baby I guess. And he's about 5lbs by her guess which is about where I'd put him too. It's a feeling I know well since both of my others were born at about 5.5lbs. All in all good appointment. I did have a night of contractions 5min apart on Monday for about 2 hours but obviously they didn't do much so I can relax a little with them now. I have been getting more and more this week and they are getting stronger but as long as it's just my body preparing I know that can take a while. I'm feeling a lot more confident about getting to 36 weeks. It's only 12 days away! Plus, our new fridge is coming on Dec. 9, which is the day I turn 36 weeks so he has to stay in until after we get that My next appointment is on December 7th, but I don't expect much to happen in the next 10 days

We would have been. We got lucky though and explained the situation to the people at Home Depot (I suppose me being hugely pregnant probably helped us a little ) and they let us have a loaner fridge, no charge. It's just one of their basic models that was damaged, but it's brand new and it'll work until we get the other one. We have now replaced our central air, water softener, stove, garage door opener, and fridge in the past year we've owned this house Hopefully that's the last thing to go for a while, but our house is 13 years old with original everything so we were kind of expecting some things to need replacing...just not everything In a way at least it was good timing because we got a really good deal with it being black Friday and all.

I'm feeling good. Honestly, I'm actually feeling pretty great for the most part. I am definitely getting a lot of the late pregnancy discomforts but they really haven't bothered me as much this time around. I'm definitely in a pretty good frame of mind to be pregnant a few more weeks can't say how I'll feel then but for right now I'm enjoying it since this is the last time.
And you'll never guess, our fridge started working again late last night! It's one of those laugh or you'll cry things. We're still getting the new one, I am a big believer in things happening for a reason so maybe that was just a sign we needed to get a new one now while there are such good prices because it'll go out soon. I'm not pushing our luck with it As a bonus at least I'll have more room for freezer meals now.

Well, we spent Monday night in the hospital.
I noticed my contractions were a little more frequent around 3pm and timed them at about every 10 min. Drank some water and layed around waiting to see what they'd do. Got up and made dinner and by about 6pm they were every 5 min or so. Drank 4 glasses of water, ate and took a bath and they were still coming and they were hurting pretty good by that time so I decided to sit and time them and see what they did for an hour. Around 9pm I decided we should probably head in so I called my mom and told her, she said she'd pack her bag and come stay with the girls so we waited for her and ended up getting to the hospital about 10:30-ish. (She lives about 15 min away and the hospital I have to go to if I'm not 36 weeks is 45 min away) Got there and got hooked up to the monitors.
They were pretty nice about everything and giving me my options. They said I could take or decline the terb. It was up to me, they aren't aggressive with stopping labor after 34 weeks and the nurse said terb won't stop true labor anyways, just delay it a bit. I asked how far my contractions were and she said 4-6 minutes for the hour I was hooked up, so I took it. I really wanted to avoid it but ultimately I want to get to next week and I want to deliver at the hospital I've been planning on so if I can delay it just a few days all the better. I was surprised though because the terb worked quickly. It was a shot and I thought I remembered the stuff they gave me with dd1 being in my IV...but that was over 5 years ago so maybe I'm just not remembering it. With dd1 it didn't really do much at all, my contractions were back within the hour just as strong and frequent. My contractions did come back by morning but they are more along the lines of my usual few an hour. They discharged me, they didn't put me on bedrest, just advised me to take it easy. After all the water I drank before we went to the hospital I was praised for how nice my urine and veins looked so I'm going to try to keep up with more water than usual. I talked to my midwife before I was discharged and I am keeping my appointment next Monday and she also said that if I make it to next Monday I can deliver at the other hospital I did find out that either way I *could* deliver at the other one but if I do and baby has problems they'll transfer him...but not me. She thinks he's 5.5-6lbs (quite a difference from my appt Friday, but he is in a different position now and I do feel he's probably there as well just based on my first two) and thinks that on Monday we'll be fine. He'll be just 2 days shy of 36 weeks and while the other hospital doesn't have a NICU they can handle the smaller problems a baby so close to term would have. They just can't do stuff like ventilators and such...in which case they'd transfer him. I don't think he'd need that now but I'll feel more comfortable with it next week. So my goal is at least Monday...though after Wednesday would be great. Doing pretty good since coming home though, nothing more than the usual. Oh and all those contractions didn't do much. I'm still 1cm and 50% effaced, which she said is just a little more than I was on Friday.

Sounds like he's just about ready!! SO exciteing for you that you only have to make it Monday I hope you can go longer, for ease of mind, but if not I wish you an easy labor and a healthy little man. KUP.

I'm glad the terb worked so that your LO can bake a little longer. I'll send you [[stay in]] vibes until Monday!
