Thank you for the reassurances on bigger babies I honestly wasn't all that worried about it until I started getting stories of tearing into the sphincter muscles and all that lovely stuff. It's not like my belly is all that big and I'm guessing he's right about 6lbs...which would put him about 8 lbs on my due date if he gains the typical .5lb a week. So that isn't *that* big. I am going to have dh do some *ahem* massage on the lady parts starting at 36 weeks, and hey if I make it all the way to my due date I could still get my water birth and they say that helps.

I'm feeling pretty good today, baby is definitely lower now. I've been hesitating to say he was lower because it seemed like he'd get lower the day after I would say anything but I don't think he can get much lower than he is and I did lose at least part of my plug this morning, but there was no blood or anything so I'm not too worried about it. I think my body is preparing but we all know that that can go on for quite a while. I have my next midwife appt tomorrow morning, should be pretty boring, well except the drive I'm sure. We're supposed to get our first measurable snowfall and everyone always drives insane during the first few so I'll probably leave an hour in advance.

I hope you have a good appt. today.

The EPO dosage recommended by my midwives is 1000mgs once in the morning and once at night - can also put directly on cervix.

    KUP!

Everything went good No weight gain since my last appt, bp was good, baby measured good and his heartbeat was 160 (she listened right after a contraction, his heartrate is usually higher during/after them). She said his head is right 'on' my pelvic bone, which is the only thing confusing me. I knew she was in a hurry since she was behind on appts because of a delivery so I forgot to ask her. Would that mean he's engaged? She didn't do an internal, that was just from her feeling the outside of my belly. Either way, it definitely explains the pain in my pelvic bone when I walk. I go back next Monday. I was a little curious about dilation but I agree with the midwife in that I'd rather not stir anything up right now since I don't think it will take much. I can now officially deliver at my hospital, per midwife's reccomendation and I'm off bedrest and pelvic rest. I'm going to rest tonight cause dh is going to be gone all night but tomorrow I am FINALLY going to clean my house! Oh how it has been screaming at me the past few weeks. I am actually excited to clean my bathtub and my floors....how sad is that?

Yay for a good appointment and getting to go off bedrest and use the hospital you want! I don't know for sure what your midwife meant by "on" the pelvic bone. I would think that to be engaged, it would be "behind" the pubic bone and "in" the pelvis. Silly prepositions. "On" would probably mean resting on the bone and probably not engaged. But that's just my guess.

ETA: Oh, and I have heard stories of women birthing very large babies with little or no tearing. I think in a lot of cases, it has more to do with how fast the baby comes out than how big it is. The skin down there has incredible abilities to stretch. Episiotomies also increase the likelihood of 3rd and 4th degree tearing.

Definitely not getting an episiotomy I let my midwife know that no matter what I don't want one. My mom is one who had an episiotomy and still ended up with a 4th degree tear. They had to use forceps on me too so that might be part of it, I was only 7lbs 10oz at birth.
I did check myself the other day (Tuesday my contractions were every 6 minutes for a while, but they weren't all that painful) and I'm at least 2cm dilated now, but beyond that I can't tell, I don't think I could until 5cm when they say it is more 'circle' than 'stretched rubber band'
I think my body is getting ready, but not sure that it means anything for anytime soon. I've felt really crampy since yesterday, and I had bms 3 times yesterday which is pretty abnormal for me. My contractions have been all over the place, well they were yesterday. I just started timing them for the morning and the last two were 7 min apart, but I'm really crampy at the moment too so it could just be intestinal. We'll see how the morning goes. Of course dh forgot his cell phone at home when he left for work today I can call his work but actually getting ahold of him is quite the task since while he has an office he isn't in it often.

I think the contractions are just from my upset stomach, they are anywhere from 6-16 minutes apart for the last few hours. Now it's just a wait and see if they fizzle out or become regular
