Well, today's the day-we're visiting the orthopedic doc @ 1:00. I'll update here later. I seem to have gotten my groove back. I suddenly have plenty of energy. Which is good. Lots to do!

Sorry I didn't update here. The official diagnosis is congenital scoliosis. We did no x-rays this time. We'll be seeing the doc every 3 months to keep an eye on it. If it worsens, surgery will be a must-doc said they'll take out the two half vertebrae and then put rods in the vertebrae above and below that area to stabilize it. We're waiting for Nate to get older b/c the doc would also like to do an MRI of his spinal cord but it requires sedation. The doc said that a body brace won't help in his case. He's also up to 7lb 5 oz and 18 1/2 inches now.

I'm still worried about his abdomen-it's really distended on his right side (although I think its from the fact that his spine curves where the 1/2 vertebrae are towards his left side) and it looks kinda freaky b/c you can see his stomach most of the time below the skin. Is it normal for breastfed babies to not poop so much? He'll go 7 days and have smudges but saves all his big poopy diapers for one day per week and he'll have 1 or 2 large ones and that's it. None of my breastfed babies have done this.

Still waiting for the genetics appointment in December to see if anything is going on there. He's also finally getting circumcised then. I didn't expect it to take two months to get him a referral or I would have hung around in the NICU a while longer to have it done before we left the hospital.

Thankfully, our baby days are over. I know I can't do this again physically. So Essure is happening December 4th.

And we're moving sometime after December 3rd. The landlord assured us that he's already got the entire house repainted and they're working on new carpet next. And he got us a refrigerator and dishwasher () in the kitchen!!! I haven't had a dishwasher in a good 5 years!!! Unless you count the kids that is . The most awesome thing is that God has showed us favor big time with this new landlord. We've put our money into catching up bills and making sure our tithe was paid. We had wrote him a check to cover 1/2 the deposit so we could move in. Today he told my husband that he knows how much we need the larger home and not to worry if we didn't have half the deposit by the time we move in. He said to give him whatever we had the day the inspection takes place and he'll worry about the rest later. That took a HUGE load off.

And, incredibly enough, God has come through on our obedience. Earlier this year I knew God was telling me it was time for me to become a SAHM, something I've never been able to do. I've worked as an executive assistant for 13 years in fact. It didn't even look like we'd be able to do it financially b/c my husband doesn't make great $ as a security guard. And it has been a struggle too-especially with DH missing work after his heart attack. We figured it up today-by January 30 of 2010 we will be $400 away from having the same income we had from the time when we both worked!

Even without these blessings from God, He is still awesome and worthy of all my praise. He never ceases to amaze me and always manages to surprise me!

I hope Nate's condition does not get worse so that he doesn't need surgery, but if he does, I hope it goes smoothly.

As far as I know, a broad spectrum of bowel habits can be normal for a breastfed baby. If you are concerned, though, you should discuss it with a professional.

I am glad that you continue to recognize the hand of the Lord in your life through everything. You are such a good example of gratitude.

Ok, so now for another update since we've visited more docs.

At 2 months, Nate is up to 9lb 13 oz! That boy is going to pass Hannah quick-she's only 17 lbs! He really loves to eat. lol

The geneticist ran several of the common genetic tests and they're all normal. The geneticist ordered an echo and kidney scan to rule out some other conditions that can cause scoliosis.

Nate's pedi referred him for Physical Therapy. He likes to keep his head turned to the right and it's beginning to misshape the back of his head. He'll turn his head to the left or facing us, but he doesn't prefer it and he looks odd when he does it. The pedi wants to make sure his neck muscles develop normally and to lessen the chance of him having to wear a helmet on his head.

    And an updated picture...

I am so glad things are working out so well for you! Having a good landlord is huge! Nate is SO darn sweet!! Look at him! I love that little outfit too. I have the same onesie for Tristan and love it on him too. I hope you'll continue to update on how he's doing either here or on the Large Families board. I'd love to know how he does.
