I was hoping I would go already, too It's another very crampy day and a lot of contractions once I got out of bed. The good news is that I can feel his head pressing down again, it's pretty low, and that should help efface and dilate me a bit during all the crampy, sharp contractions I'm having. I'm at LEAST optimistic about that. I dislike being on mental alert all day with contractions I can't ignore, but one of these days they WILL result in a baby.

I need to take my kids outside to play but it looks so cold and windy I am procrastinating. Still, we're going to have very few days left that are clear and sunny without any snow, so I know we should enjoy it while it lasts.

Have you tried the belly binding?

I'm glad his head is pressing down and hopefully helping things out. Yes, enjoy the outdoors before the snow comes! How long will your MW be gone starting Sunday?

I thought about it a few days ago, but pressure makes me nauseous, so I am avoiding it for now. He has since moved a bit higher, unfortunately, but with two toddlers to take care of and contractions to contend with, I just don't want to add nausea to the mix!

Unfortunately I have an OB this time around, thanks to a change in policies at my birth center, so I have a doula to help me. She'll be gone from Sept 26 - Oct 3, so right before my due date. I want to go before she leaves, but if I don't I'll likely end up with her backup doula unless I go overdue (as I'm due on the 4th).

I'm glad you have a backup for her. Bummer that she could be gone though during the birth.

Yeah, she was so helpful for Lilah's birth. The good news is that her backup has the same high recommendations and accreditation, so I am sure the experience will be fine, it just is a little more of an unknown quantity.

Well no news this morning, despite some contractions it still refuses to pick up. I am trying very, very hard not to get bitter about this

Unless I go into a fast labor this afternoon (ha!) I will miss my doula for the next week. She's flying out on a red eye tonight so I think I am officially on with her backup in the interim time.

The only eventful thing today, other than the normal cadre of contractions, is that my carbon monoxide detector keeps going off! The family is off at church, I stayed home after a late, late night up with my daughter (who wanted to talk rather than sleep in the middle of the night) and awoke to am alarm klaxon I'd never heard before. Talk about freaking me out!

I opened up the windows and turned off the alarms, but for some reason they keep kicking back on. We do have natural gas stoves, fireplaces, hot water heaters, etc etc, but I don't smell the tracer on the natural gas. My husband thinks he trapped some in the garage this morning while getting the kids into the Suburban for church and it took a while to filter up and into the house. I am not sure, but he should be home soon enough to investigate himself. Still, nice way to thoroughly freak the pregnant lady out, geez!

    That is freaky and annoying!

What is with kids and sleep? A good night around here lately is when just one is up and not both.

Is dh home on the weekends? I will be thinking of you in the next couple of days when you see less of dh and have less help. Take it easy!

Yeah, my husband often works 7 am (leaves here before 6:30) to 8 pm, Monday through Friday, so his hours are very long. That should be rectifying shortly (we hope), and fortunately he is usually doing extra work or personal projects away from home from 4-8:00, so I can call him home earlier if need be. It's still long, hard days for me with little breaks, but I am just letting go everything that isn't crucial in terms of cooking and cleaning and biding my time. Some days I feel fine and can do more and others, like today, I am just wiped out and exhausted and basically sit/relax most of the day.

Tomorrow evening I have my chiropractic and massage, so I am looking forward to that. It is at 5:00 pm so my husband will meet me there and watch the kids. The downside is that it means the girls miss their nap or are woken up from it very, very early, but that may mean better sleep Monday night. We are in a jag of awful sleeping here so it has been a rough month or two.

Lilah has gotten pretty clingy lately, probably sensing the new sibling. Still, there are worse things than her thrusting the wrap at me for 'up' and wanting to snuggle on the couch
