    Thanks for the bump!

Things are getting better, I have actually been able to not take my anti-depressant for a few days and been okay, though I am still watching it closely. It seems to be giving me migraines, so that deincentivizes taking it quite a bit! Other than that, I am feeling pretty good. My stitches are finally dissolving and, unless I overdo it, I am not really sore anymore.

I am happily in my pre pregnancy jeans, though thanks to too many fatty meals from well-meaning friends, a couple pounds over my pre pregnancy weight, still! A good pound of that has come on in this last week, so now I am cracking down and food logging again.

Today is the first day my husband is back at work, which has been a little stressful, but so far we are managing okay. The most difficult part is when I am trying to attend to the toddlers and the baby starts screaming in another room, because the older girls tend to squabble and not behave if I leave for more than a few minutes. I don't mind letting the baby cry a bit if necessary, when he's older, but I don't really like having to leave a newborn crying if it can be helped. There's no good solution for that, either, since the this tends to happen are when I am not able to wear him (like when he is down for a nap or sleeping in the morning). It's gone smoothly besides a few shuffling issues like that, but I'd like to find a better solution than either letting my infant cry for ten minutes while I get the toddlers situated or the toddlers disobeying if I run out of the room without getting things set up first.

That's just the challenge of a 3,2, and 2 week old! Overall things are going much better, I feel a little more settled about the whole birth experience and am glad to have it in the past. I am worried about future births being as long as this one was, but that's something I can't control or stress over right now. It bothers me that my 'pattern' for birth is so long and awful, but all I can do is hope that shortens with subsequent births (who knows?).

Seth seems to be doing great, we go in for his appointment tomorrow and I'll know more then, but other than a clogged tear duct and subsequent goopy eye he is in perfect health and a very easy baby. He doesn't hardly cry, sleeps well at night, his latch has improved a bit and my nipples have healed (he was the first baby I've had who has cracked them, his latch was so terrible). On our home scale he appears to be well over 9 pounds now, from his birth weight of 8 lbs. 4 oz, but the doctor's scale is a lot more accurate than ours. He doesn't feed for more than five to ten minutes at a time, but I think he is a pretty efficient feeder, bad latch aside, and appears to be gaining well.

Not much more to say for now, and we've been awful about getting pictures up of him. Hopefully I can remedy that and post some soon!

So happy to hear how things are going! Sounds like you preempted more serious problems and are doing really well!

My kids were slightly younger than yours when my third was born and it is a challenge! My best advice to make sure the older ones learn that mommy is NOT out of commission when she is dealing with the baby. That meant leaving the baby to cry sometimes or nursing on the run (I remember once bfing while carrying my 3 yr old to his room...lol). It was all short lived though, because they soon learned to obey even if I was in another room or nursing, because they knew I would put down the baby and discipline them if they tried to test the limits.

I hope your first day on your own went well!

Baby pictures for all. #1 is Seth on my back in one of my wraps for today's chores, #2 is from yesterday, one of the rare unblinking awake pictures

I love it, Taryl. He is beautiful and I adore the back carrying-- wow.

You'll figure out your groove with 3 under 4. Things (eventually) fall into place.

Glad your little man is growing well!

I tossed him up there... Santa tossed, that is . It's a carry called a double hammock carry, with a wrap.

Here's a video showing more precisely what was done, and if you want more information on babywearing, I have links galore!

That's really cute! I do worry a little bit about hip development if babies are carried with their hips splayed too much. I can't find an article right now.
