I've used both and have them, but I cant say I noticed them helping one little bitI do like the flavor of RRL tea, but right now I am mainly drinking a calcium/magnesium tea meant for pregnant mothers to help with relaxation - I LOVE it! I did EPO vaginally with my first and it was just kind of gunky, so I am decided to get my prostaglandins from a more *ahem* enjoyable source with great frequency
He hasn't complained yet!
Melynda, midwives have used nipple stimulation to increase oxytocin production and assist with labor for centuries, but there were several studies that just came out verifying that it provably assists with effacement and cervical readiness in general (increasing one's Bishop score). There still seems to be debate about whether it brings on labor, but preparing the cervix more makes labor progress faster and with less hitches once it does begin, that is enough for me.
I'd say the regular, strong contractions produced by nipple stimulation (manually or by a pump) would make the onset of labor more swift, based on what it HAS been proven to do, but nothing short of excessive intervention by either midwives or doctors will bring about labor if the baby and mother are not already favorable for it.

The articles on these studies were just on this board a few weeks ago, by the way! You should still be able to find them.

Okay.I've heard mixed things about the RRL and primrose oil. DH would do the perenium rub with it and I would shoot extra, I got the straight oil, up in there. I also mixed it with lots of lovens and we used it for lube with that.

I linked those studies at some point in my lodge, Melynda. I'm impressed with how much one's Bishop's score can increase with simply 3 days of nipple stim...specifically it really helps with effacement.
1.5cm, anterior, GBS-....these are all great news for you, Taryl!
It's the little things that make me happy these days, like the laxity of one of my sphincters
(the cervical one, of course! Laxity of any of the others would be.... unfortunate.)

Sounds like a great appt. The pump should help. I am going to drink the RRL just for the sake of my poor scared uterus. And "more enjoyable ways", LOL that made me chuckle.![]()

I contracted 5-10 minutes apart last night until I fell asleep (yay sleep!) and have had some painful contractions while standing this morning. I don't feel them as much sitting, but I do hope they will continue and progress. Prodromal labor is NOT my favorite thing in the world![]()

Nope, no such luck. Still contracting this evening but no discernible progress. The pump has made them 3-5 minutes apart again, which they were briefly earlier today, but I am still not calling anything any this point. They haven't gotten significantly stronger, so my history of prodromal labor is confirmed. Again.
The good thing is that they are manageable and hopefully effacing me a bit. As I said on Emily's lodge earlier, I am an optimist![]()

I bet things are progressing for you, Taryl. And bright side, at least we know you have the prodromal labor deal down by the third time around, right? (Blech!) Hope DH is able to give you a bit of a break to recharge today.
