Really, I always thought the right side was better from looking on spinningbabies.com. But then again, maybe I had it backwards since I was looking right at the mama instead. Anyway, cool!I'm glad to hear she's moved out of the posterior position. I think I've read that being on the left is a really good position to be in. Most babies lie to one side or the other, very few start labor completely anterior, but it is supposedly easier for them to rotate clockwise than counterclockwise, so being on the left is better than being on the right (where my baby prefers to be).
It's confusing. The belly maping page explains but I had to really think about it it understand it. They suggest using a doll to understand it in 3D: http://www.spinningbabies.com/baby-p.../belly-mapping
Everything is named using the mother's left and right, not your left and right if you are looking at her. If you read Section 3: Naming the position, it exlains that LOA, left occiput anterior, (the ideal position) means that "O," the occiput, or the back of the baby's head, faces "L," left, the mother's left side, in "A," anterior, the mother's front.

So I sliced my stomach open today. Okay well I cut a pretty good gash in it. I was trying to open a package with a toy in it for DS and it was that really hard plastic that things like batteries and usb drives come in. I was using a pretty sharp pocket knife-type thing and I slipped and sliced my stomach! I don't think it would have been so bad if it were anywhere else but b/c my skin is so stretched there, it put a good hole there. So I had to go to the clinic and get four stitches. They said this was a very unique situation and to be more careful with my protruding stomach in the way. I feel like such a dweeb! DH was like "From now on, leave the cutting things to me!"
I *think* I may have been having some contractions last night, but I can't tell if they were in my dreams or not. They felt like contractions similar to those I had in the beginning of labor with DS!
Ouch! Sorry about the cutting yourself thing. That totally sounds like something I would do and then I would feel the same way you do! Accidents happen, though, so don't beat yourself up about it.
I'm glad my explanation of the spinning babies thing helped. I've been thinking someone should make videos explaining it. I just looked on youtube and didn't see any.
Isn't all that packaging on toys sooo frustrating!! They are so over packaged! I was the same way being klutzy with my big belly, always bumping it into things. Glad it wasn't a major injury though.
Yay for having a dream about contractions, whether they were real or not, even if it's simply your subconscience preparing your body for the birth, it may be an indicator you time is soon!
Had my 39 week appt today, everything was good, weight was maybe up a bit but not much (I'm really not keeping much track at this point.), BP was low - 85/60 or something! Baby is now on my right side instead of my left but still anterior. (So much for being in the "better" anterior position Brittany!)
Midwife checked me and stretched me to a 2 and about 60% effaced, baby's head is low. She also stripped my membranes which w/ Micaiah started my contractions that night and they continued off and on until I had full blown labor. So we'll see! The mom I babysit for really wanted a solid answer on whether I thought I would go into labor to see if I could still babysit tomorrow. I don't have an answer for her, but I'm still babysitting! If it's the same time frame as w/ M, I wouldn't go into active labor until tomorrow evening anyway.
So I will keep you all posted if anything happens!
Very exciteing hun!! I'm so sorry you cut your tummy, I bet they hadn't delt with that very oftenHow is it healing? I'm sending good position baby vibes your way. I can't believe your still babysitting you crazy lady!
