Brandon and I met at the beginning of 2006. I was working at a local pub and he came in one night. He asked me out, but I was enjoying the single life and turned him down. He came back the next week and asked me out again. I turned him down 4 times before finally agreeing just so he would stop asking.
We couldn’t be parted after that. He was funny, good looking, determined and knew what he wanted out of life, and I admired that.
We were both in school at the time and working towards our careers, mine in the legal field and his to become a professional golfer. To this day I don’t get tired of watching him golf. He loves to golf and man is he good at it. He’s so passionate about what he does.
After a year into our relationship Brandon and I went to see, my favourite artist, Billy Joel. I figured we’d take the train into the City and grab a quick bite to eat and go to the concert. Brandon had different ideas.
He arranged that evening for a Limo to take us downtown, we had a lovely steak dinner; the limo picked us up after dinner and took us to the concert. The concert was AMAZING. Billy Joel put on the best concert I've ever seen! The limo picked us up afterwards to take us home, Brandon had talked to the driver previously to ask for the long way home..
While I was gushing over how amazing the night was and how it couldn’t have been any better he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!!!! My jaw dropped! OF COURSE!!!!!!!!!!
We were engaged for 2 and a half years. I wanted to finish school before we tied the knot.
We had an amazing wedding on beautiful (but freezing) October day in 2009.
A month after the wedding we had decided that we weren't going to "try" for a baby but we weren't going to prevent anything either. So we stopped using birth control.
I was over at my sister Jordan's house on "test day". So I took a home pregnancy test at her house and it came out positive.
DH and I were really excited but didn't want to get too excited. We told our families and I called my midwives to set up an appointment.
10 days after I got my positive test I miscarried... I had never felt heartbreak like that before.
We decided to wait to try and started using birth control again.
Then on January 14th I get a call from my sister, Emily. She says "Hi Gator, I just wanted to let you know that I'm pregnant!!" I couldn't have been happier for her! But, of course, I was sad for my loss just 5 weeks ago. Em asked how I've been feeling and if "things" have gone back to normal, and I mentioned that I still haven't gotten my period and it's been 5 weeks, she said that was normal for your body to take a few weeks to get back into the swing of things. She then asked if I had tested recently and I said no. Why would I? We weren't trying.
On my lunch break at work I thought more about what Em said about the test and figured I'd pick one up just to see... low and behold:
POSITIVE??? WHAT??? *shock*
So (naturally) as soon as I got home that night I got my butt to a drug store/dollar store/anywhere that sold home pregnancy tests and bought them out!
Positive test after positive test.
Needless to say I was thrilled, but trying really hard not to be after what happened the month before. So I called the midwives and asked to have some blood work drawn.
Blood work came back and said that I was DEFINITELY pregnant!!!
We had to date the pregnancy because I wasn't sure how far along I was. We didn't know if this was a new pregnancy or if the bleeding the month before was just a fluke.
Turns out it was a new pregnancy, and we got to see our baby for the first time. Our perfect little baby!
I was so excited to find out I was due 6 days after one of my sisters. But was able to be pregnant with both of them (because Jordan was due in May 2010 *she had her daughter, Fiona, on May 10th*)

This will be the 7th grandchild for my parents (assuming Emily has her baby before me) and the 1st for my IL's.
I’ve had a really great pregnancy so far. I love all the kicks and wiggles and will be sad once they stop.
I can't wait to share the rest of this journey with you!![]()
I still can't believe how close I am to holding my baby in my arms!!
Great intro! I love the story of how you met and got engaged. And you look GORGEOUS in your wedding pictures.
Looking forward to following your journey, fellow September mama!
Awww! I love seeing another lodge for your family! How awesome that you all got to be pregnant together. Oh, and I love, love, love your wedding dress!!!!
