YAY ALLIE!!!! Welcome to your lodge!!
Welcome to your lodge!
Allie, welcome to your lodge!!!!
Can't wait for you to type out everything for us to read :)
Ok sorry this took so long, I'm home sick from work so I have some time to type.
First off, I'm Allie 31 yo mama to Aidan who will be 3 in April and fake wife (dude seriously needs to put a ring on my finger sheesh) to Bill 32.
Bill and I met in highschool, he was the dorky class clown and I thought he was a real wierdo lol, we became really good friends after highschool and one drunken night at his sister's wedding finally ended up together . We moved in together 6 months after getting together.
Bill and I being BIll and I
Bill has an 8 yo daughter from a previous relationship, 8 going on 18 lol, we butt heads alot but overall she's a good kid.
That's about it about us as a couple. In 2006 Bill decided that whenever I was ready we could have a baby, I was all gung ho, but little did I know it would take a year to get PG, when I finally did get my BFP, I had made up my mind prior that I wasn't ready and I wanted to move up another level at work first. LOL DS had different plans for me, and looking back now, there's no way I'd change a thing.
My pregnancy with DS was uneventful as far as morning sickness and any complications go, I only gained 18 lbs throught the whole thing, but my hormones were wicked, and I actually felt sorry most of the time for DH who had to take the brunt of my mood swings.
Aidan's Birthstory (cut and pasted from my BB)
Monday I decided to go for a nice long walk, I walked to the mall, around and then back, when I got home I was exhausted but started to feel some cramping it was looking good. The cramping was on and off but nothing significant...until DH got home from work, then it started to get a bit more regular and then more so into the evening and then the bloody show . I decided to take a nice warm shower as my back was a bit sore after I got out, I told DH " I think this baby is coming tonight". Of course the first thing I do is hop onto PG.Org and see what's going on, and find Lia in the same state on our trusty Crown Seekers thread (which btw is tons of fun for senseless chatter, come join us if you haven't already:razz:) By about 11:00 or so I told Dh to get some sleep just in case and I hopped in the bath as the contractions were about 5-10 mins apart, I had already called the hospital and they told me to come when they were consistant at 5 mins apart. 12am I told DH to get up and lets go.
12:30am April 15- get to L&D they check me and I'm 5 cm and fully effaced, I get into the jacuzzi tub (highly recommended) where I laboured for a bit, the contractions started getting pretty strong and about 2 mins apart. The nurse gets me out of the tub (boooo) to check the baby and how I'm progressing (I'm not sure of the time right now) 7-8 cms and baby is low, well now is when the real pain starts, back labour!!!!!! not only that but my cx were coming 4 right on top of eachother and then about a min between sets of 4. We tried gas but it didn't work.
6am- I caved and asked for the epi, the back labour was just too much, other than the fact that he gave me the epi before th freezing kicked in (ouch) I was in heaven, I think I proposed to him too:cool:. Now all is good in the world again, DH got to snooze for an hour while I waited for the OB to come and break my water.
7am- doc comes in to break my water, I'm fully dialated and ready to go. As soon as I drain Lake Ontario from my body that is. I thought the Epi was a cureall pain kinda thing well not for pushing it's not OMG the pressure and stretching that goes on down there will not very soon be forgotten.
7:58am - Aidan James Anthony (after my llate father, after I looked at Aidan I saw a little of my dad in him and had to add him on) made his appearance. An hour of pushing and one stitch later. He's perfect and I've never been so in love until now.
Name: Aidan James Anthony
B-day: April 15, 2008 @ 7:58 am
Weight: 7 lbs 5 ozs
Length: 20 1/2 inches
APGAR: 9 & 10
after the birth I noticed lots of numbness in my knees, I wanted a completely natural birth but I think the offer of the drugs was way too enticing. for a good month or two after Aidan's birth, I would get weak knees where one would just buckle for no reason. My guess was the epi and my doctor said it was possible. Pretty scary when you're carrying a newborn around.
Even thought I said I never wanted more than one child, after Having Aidan I decided I couldn't imagine not doing it again, DH was done, and it was quite a battle to get him to agree to another, I don't blame him afer the wicked PPD I got after Aidan. I honestly don't know how he put up with me lol. Anyway he agreed, and here I am.
I went into this pregnancy knowing I wanted things to be different, I had attended one of my BFF's (Jordan) homebirths and completely fell in love with the whole thing, the midwifes, the option of labouring how you want, not being stuck in bed on a monitor, and especially the water birth she had. I cried like a baby when she brought Fiona into the world and was convinced I definitely wanted a midwife and a homebirth this time around. so In July when I got my BFP my only worry was convincing DH to agree to a homebirth, it was easy, he was all for it. We live less than 5 mins from the hospital and he knew the "decision to incision" time was 30 minutes so he felt it was a great idea. I called Jordan's MW office right away to make sure I could get in and fell in love with them right away. sooo different from an OB, I loved the longer appointments, the chats, the non medical feel of it all and the fact that they give you the option of certain tests instead of just telling you what you have to do.
The first trimester was filled with nausea, but nothing I couldn't handle, the second trimester was like a honeymoon, I felt great, my hormones have been awesome and I was soo looking forward as I planned for my homebirth, My MW even found a birthing pool that I Could use for free, everything was falling into place.....Until my 32 week appointment.
At the beginning of my 3rd trimester I had started getting sick, throwing up weekly and just feeling horrible again, I thought morning sickness was coming back, and my MW put me on Diclectin for morning sickness, it helped the nausea some but the vomiting kept happening, I thought, oh well, it's something that will go away when I have the baby. Around New years, the whole house came down with the flu, fevers chils all that fun stuff. I dealt with the aches and chills with plenty of showers and soon after developed a crazy itch, thinking it was just from dry skin I never thought much more of it. fast forward to my 32 week appointment
My MW just asked routine questions and I almost forgot about the itch, but then I mentioned it in passing telling her how bad it had been since my flu. right away I could see her face drop, the mood of the room changed, she asked if I had a rash, No, if I had changed detergents, No. Then she told me about a condition called Cholestasis of pregnancy basically liver disease of pregnancy that will go away after the baby is born, however due to this condition it is not reccomended to go past 38 weeks of pregnancy as the toxins my liver is producing may pass the placenta and cause still birth. I immediately questioned the fate of my homebirth, they said if that's what I had, I wouldn't be able to have a homebirth and they would have to share care with an OB. I went for testing the next day at the hospital and it was confirmed, Cholestasis, I was shattered, my natural homebirth was turning into anything but. Now I was to go to the hospital weekly for NSTs, BPP and blood work.
I know that I should be thankful my baby is healthy, but I'm also still very shattered that I can't have the homebirth I wanted and planned for. The thought of induction before my body is ready to labour on it's own is also a fear, I don't want this to end up in a Cesarean.
My last hospital visit I was told I have one more week 2 at the very most before they will induce me. I hope becuase I had a successful vaginal birth with DS my body will remember what to do. I'm also going to be starting natural induction methods and things to help ready my body. I want to avoid pitocin at all costs and have been given some other options that I will try before I have to resort to that.
So that's my jumble of a story, I've been typing between nausea spells and birthing stories on TV lol, so I apologise if the flow wasn't too smooth. It turns out that the Cholestasis is a reason for my weekly vomiting spells , joy.
I'm sure your induction (if it comes to that) will go smoothly. You're in good hands and you were a birthing pro last time!
Loved the intro. :D I'm so glad you decided to have another baby. I'm really ridiculously excited to meet him.
Thanks so much for sharing. It has to be so hard to have your dreams of the birth you want shattered. I am glad that you and baby are ok though and hopefully the induction methods work to rippen your cervix and make the induction easy for you.
Thanks for sharing your stories!
I really hope you can get the baby moving before induction! Were you late with DS?
DS was pretty much on time, he was born at 39 +3 but I know my cycles are a couple days shorter than the OB's estimation of 28 days
Great intro! I just can't wait to meet your new little man!
Allie, I'm trully sorry that everything has not worked out the way you wanted it to. That is a tough dream to forget about.
I'm glad that they did figure out what was going on though and pray that in the end you can still have a natural hospital birth.
