Yeah I'm shocked that oregon isn't more NCB friendly. I grew up in Vancouver and hope to live somewhere near Portland someday!

My birth center Is Bella Vie. Technically, it's in Salem, but about 15 minutes from the city part. It's an old renovated farmhouse, it's beautiful!

Charlotte didn't let me listen to much of the meeting today, but I heard one of the board members talk about an unnamed hospital nearby, that according to her research, 60% of first time mothers were induced, and of those, 60% ended up being a c/s. That didn't include any planned first time or repeat c/s! I thought that was so crazy, and made me that much more happy that I'm not in any hospital nearby. Not that I'm a first time mom, but they still seem pretty knife happy, KWIM? Sheesh.
Yeah, I've noticed a lot of c-sections too just from people I work with. One just had a c-sec on Friday and another one did in September. Both FTMs. The one who had it Friday was on bedrest for the past few weeks due to pre-e, so perhaps there was a real need for hers. The September one was induced at 41 weeks and the induction didn't work. I think that's the more common reason for c-sections. I was so luckily--I narrowly escaped by dilating "enough" while they were prepping the OR for me.

Loved reading your birth stories!!! i can't believe those statistics about the c/s! Wow! Good for you for all you have accomplished. You really know what you want and you have "proved yourself" on many fronts.

Actually, pretty much directly UNDER the 205 bridge where it meets the river. I went to Mountain View (class of '02). My parents are still there (my dad drives a Trimet bus on 23rd Ave) and I have a sister in Aloha.

J's birth story was awesome. I've heard that teenagers often go fast (I think itwas in the book Baby Catcher. I almost cried at the end of C's birth story when you said the part about the day she came--that was beautiful.

I'm glad you found a birth center that does VBAC!

I subbed there a few times years ago---2 years after you graduated. I did my student teaching at Cascade MS with Ali Miller (8th grade LA/SS block).

Full term! It seems like this pregnancy has been soooooo sloooooow, but superquick at the same time. Based on my past pregnancies, I only have approx. 27 days left (I'm guessing she'll be here on May 23, around 12:40am. How's that for specific? ), and so much to do before then. This week I plan on setting up the bassinet in our bedroom, and the dresser in the baby room, and sorting/washing/putting away baby clothes. If Charlotte will let me, I also want to make a bunch of pumpkin bread and baked oatmeal to freeze for after V is here. Those two are family favorites, and they go so quick, I want to make A LOT of both. But we'll see.

I joined the GBS- team next week, and besides being a little anemic, all of my other bloodwork is fine. Just have to work on getting my iron up a little. I've started taking EPO, too.

Sounds great! We have the same due date, and I tend to go over too.
So what is with the EPO? What's it for? Is it a pill?
