Thanks girls!! I've never had a lodge before!! I'm not quite sure what I'm supposed to do! Blush I guess you need somewhat of an intro eh? Smile

I'm 26 and DH is 27. We celebrate 7 years of blissful marriage next month. He's the best father and husband a girl could ask for....VERY involved with the children!! We were pregnant right away after we got married and miscarried at 6 weeks....decided to try again the next year and miscarried after 3 months. We were advised to wait a year before trying again....we waited 2. I had a burst appendix as a kid and my Dad was informed by the Doctor that I'd likely NEVER be able to conceive. Thankfully God is in control and the Doctor was wrong...it's been a hole in one every time.

3 years into our marriage we conceived our first son. He was born 35weeks 5 days later on our bathroom floor after 7 hours of labor. He arrived a healthy 7lbs 5oz with a 13 3/4 inch head. He was obviously early as his feet had no footprints and his ears weren't curled Smile We realized after that first birthing experience that a home birth was the BEST decision we could have ever made in regards to the birthing of our children.

10 months later I found out we were expecting our #2. Also a son, he was born at 36 1/2 weeks on our bedroom floor weighing in at a hefty 7lbs 7oz with a 14 inch head after about 2 hours of labor. (I prefer longer labors...the shorter the more painful!) He just turned 18 months and is such a hoot!

Here we are less than a week away from 36 weeks with this one! We went to a private u/s place in Feb. to find out that we are expecting our first daughter! I'm excited more and more the closer it gets. I've already had a lovely shower and am up to my EARS in "pink" It's been a much more tough pregnancy this time around and to be honest, I'm VERY eager for this to be over...I was stressing over the birth up until now, but now that I'm so uncomfortable (my hips especially!) I'm ready to say who cares about the pain...bring it on with this baby in tow! Smile I need labor vibes for this weekend girls!!! I see my midwife on Friday and am eager to see what kind of progress I've made! Smile Around that time with my #2 I was 2-4 cm and 90% effaced....and yeah, I delivered him that night Smile

So, that's what I've got for now for an intro! Smile Thank you for giving me a lodge and be sure to tell me what I'm supposed to do!! Smile

How did y'all come to the decision to have a home birth with your first?

That's a REALLY good question! LOL. Would you believe I was actually considering an elective c-section (had a doc for the first 4 months of my pregnancy with our 1st) since I'd had surgery TWICE with the whole burst appendix thing. Somehow we went from THAT....to switching to a home birth midwife at 4 months pregnant! (I think I was afraid of the pain and surgery was second nature to me....) My parents were SO supportive and thrilled (my mom had all three of us in a hospital but completely drug-free/natural) We were really at peace with the whole idea and it went SO well! Now, I'd like to NEVER find myself in a hospital EVER to birth! Smile

LOL! Thank you!! Other than the pain, they were! Smile I've been a bit nerved out this time around because I KNOW what's coming UGH! But at this point....she's got to get out some way or another right?! I'd rather it be at home with some pain!

Welcome to your lodge! It sounds like your about ready to add this little girl to your family. It's going to be fun to see how she works her way into the home:) My second and third labors were much the same, I hope your third labor is easier for you then your second! Do you have a "birth room" picked out? Do you have pictures of your DS1's foot print, I don't think I've seen one like your describeing? Hope this weekend holds some excitement for you!

I enjoyed reading your intro. I think it's beautiful that you gave birth to your first two babies at home and the way nature designed and that you want to do the same again.

Thank you for the encouragement! We are actually traveling over to my parents house to deliver this one...I wanted the option of a water birth and they have a HUGE garden tub...I'm excited and once I get checked on Friday...we'll stay the night and perhaps weekend at their house just to be on the safe side....granted we only live 9 miles away LOL.

I don't have foot prints of my #1 from the day he was born...we waited until he developed some lines (footprints) before trying to get them.

Yes, exciting plans for sure...I think my Dad was a tad concerned as to how it would all come together but now that everything is ready...even down to all the birth supplies over there...I think they're excited!! Smile We'll bring the boys with us and they'll stay upstairs (asleep I hope) while we're delivering....if it's during the day, they'll likely go next door to my sister's house. I can't imagine trying to arrange childcare and dropping kids off etc while in labor! I think I'd be pretty stressed if that were the case...especially since my last one arrived in about 2 hrs. I see my midwife this Friday and will have an update for ya'll on what's going on up in there!! Smile I'm hoping to hear from her that I'm 2-4cm like with the last one Wink Then maybe I'll have NEWS on Sat.

OK girls...had my appt today!! Smile We are dilating and effacing!! Smile I'm about 6 days earlier being checked than I was with my #2. I'm at 1cm and 25% effaced (compare to 2cm stretching easily to 4 and 90% effaced at 36 1/2 weeks with my last one) SO...I doubt I'll have a baby THIS weekend...though she did say things can kick in REAL fast at any time...I'm thinking sometime later next week or next weekend...which would be good as I'd be 37 weeks or nearly there. She DID give us the "green light" on normal activity and that when I get the contractions not to worry or try to stop them (as we have for the past 6 weeks) I'm relieved and excited. I honestly didn't feel that I'd have the baby THIS weekend...though my family would be happy if I did since their schedules are all clear! Smile I've had a feeling since the conception of this baby that I'd deliver on or around the 25th....(I wasn't sure I'd make it that far given how early the boys have come...but I'm thinking it more likely this time!) So we'll wait and see what happens...I've had a bunch of contractions today and will have hubby give me a long awaited foot massage!! Smile

We did thank you! I saw my prenatal chiro yesterday and that was SOOOOOOO nice!! She did shock me a bit when she was feeling the baby and asked me if I was certain there was just 1 in there ROFL! I should post a belly pic as it's getting quite large! Smile I see the chiro again this Thursday and am kinda hoping that things pick up over this next weekend. Other than all the good stuff going on (much stronger contractions...losing part of the mucus plug last night etc...) My 3 yr old is pulling the stunt of getting up in the middle of the night or ultra early in the morning (4am) and waking his brother by crawling in his crib....we've had some rough nights this week with very little sleep ugh! I just hope that gets better as the week progresses!! Smile

hehe...your 3 year old climbing into his brother's crib is kind of funny...though I'm sure it's not funny to you in the middle of the night.

Yeah, trying to drop kids off during labour is awful. I was in labour with DD, and our son was almost 3. He was napping when my contractions jumped from 10 minutes apart to 2 minutes apart with no warning. I had been labouring at home all night and morning.

Needless to say, DH jumped in the shower, woke up DS and put him in the car, while I was on the phone trying to figure out what to do with him before we had to leave. It took me forever to get downstairs as the pain was so frequent and painful. I was scooting down the stairs one at a time.

We finally just drove to the hospital with him because we didn't have time to drop him off at my sisters house. He ended up staying in the room with us and watched the whole thing...because I was almost fully dilated and started pushing 30 minutes after arriving. He was so good! I would rather not do that again though. It was a little stressful. Smile

(Luckily my sister arrived just as I was starting to push, so she was able to have him sit with her and try to explain to him what was going on, while he sat there watching wide eyed.)

Awww thanks! Depressed! lol....na not quite but nearly! lol. Let's see....I had a TON of contractions ALL night about 5 min apart for a number of hours last week.....hmmm guess that was Friday night. Then had good ones Sat morning then just 3 on Sat night UGH! They've been VERY strong contractions but don't seem to get very close together since UGH! I have no clue what's going on here....given my history I'm just a tad nervous about a big baby. My midwives have told me that if I ever made it to term, I'd have 10-11lb babies with 15 inch heads.... And, now that I'm getting close to actually MAKING it to 40 weeks they change their tune and say the baby will only be like 6lbs?! EXCUSE ME?! I just don't get what the whole magic number of 40 weeks is?! I could understand it not being a big deal for me to go to 40 weeks if I'd had the others at like 39 weeks or something but to have had 2 preemies that were 7 1/2lbs with 14 inch heads..... I'd have thought that MAYBE my dates were wrong with this one but I was charting and KNOW when we conceived....UGH! I just don't know what to do about it all.....The worry is getting to me....not to mention measuring large etc etc. This baby sure does like to stress me out! Smile

Sorry baby is picking on you :bighug: Maybe you grow large boys and average size girls? For what its worth my Ob told me that girls do tend to run a bit smaller.

I think that your body will not grow a baby that is too big for you to birth. A lot of women give birth to big babies with big heads with no problems. I hope this girl decides to come soon for you!

Thank you for all the warm wishes ladies!! I'm just SO glad it's over....I always wonder WHY I'm having another when I'm in the throws of labor lolol. Overall....it was a great birth! Here's the birth story....

My birth story is really simple! I was awakened by our 3 yr old at 4am yesterday morning...started having mild contractions...figured they'd go away as soon as I got up for good. When that didn't happen, I cleaned up the house and called my mom saying we should probably spend the day there just incase! They came to get me around 10 and things were picking up....still not intense. Called the midwife since she lives so far away. She got there around 11:30 or noon....so we all had lunch together and then she checked to see where I was at. My cervix was SO posterior that she couldn't even get it to check UGH! SO, I started walking around and pulling up my belly with each contraction (still not intense) She checked me less than an hour later and I was an 8. With a bulging bag of water. I kept feeling pressure as the baby was in a funky position and I was having back labor with the contractions. We got her to turn the right way and that helped with the back pain but the pressure was incredible! SO, I got in the tub. She checked me again and I was about 8 1/2 cm then 9 1/2 and just waiting for that stupid front cervix lip to go away. Finally it went away and the contractions were really intense bringing the baby down....I felt like I needed to push and 4 pushes (and some massive burning/stinging) later, she was born into the water....I got to bring her up to my chest which was SO cool! She got a 10 and a 10 apgar score She had a very short chord (all my babies have) and a placenta that LOOKED full term (yet again, this is why my babies come early.,,the placenta ages and forces them out) That's about all there is to the story...they got me out of the tub (quite a feat!) and got us cleaned up. Overall, it really was a perfect waterbirth! I LOVED being in the tub and other than the out of control feeling you get when your body is making you push and everything is stinging and burning LOL....it was GREAT! I'm so pleased to have a healthy July baby!! She was smaller than I was expecting BUT...she had the good sized head my boys have all had and I'm VERY glad she arrived early! Smile

Thanks girls!! We're adjusting into life with 3 kids....thank goodness we're at my mom's for a week before we go home and do this on our own...my midwife is VERY strict about resting a week after birth. LOL. So, we've been enjoying the new baby and trying to adjust the boys to their new sister....that's been a bit rough! lol
