Bump for updates, we're thinking about you
Just a quick update. I have to keep it short 'cause I'm exhausted and have a big day ahead of me tomorrow. So, I was in labor all night the 1st and all day and night the 2nd and not getting anywhere and not getting anywhere, so at 2am on the 3rd, we went into the hospital. After more trying different things, I ended up with a c-section at 1:30. Our boy, Bowen Gabriel Mason was born at 1:43pm, 8lbs 2oz, 22 inches. He was posterior. His apgars were 1, 3 and 5 and after I briefly saw him, he was rushed to the nursery. About an hour later the peditrician came in and told me that he was very sick and was being transferred to UCSF medical center (San Francisco) about 300 or so miles from here. I finally got to touch my baby about 7 hours later. I spent an hour with him before he had to leave for San Francisco and I haven't seen him since because I'm recovering from surgery and couldn't go with. His dad was able to be with him the entire time and I finally get to go see them tomorrow. So, I'm probably going to be in SF for the next 2 weeks and will only be able to update minimally. Altogether I'm recovering well and the long term prognosis for our son is good. He's going to be fine, but it's going to be a really difficult couple of weeks (as the past few days have already been). He's really beautiful and I love him more than anything and I'm bringing frozen colostrum with me so they can give him his first colostrum. My milk isn't in yet, but I'm able to save a little colostrum at this point and I'll be pumping and saving until he's actually able to breastfeed, which probably won't be until Thursday. Once things settle down, I'll post my actual birth story. It's going to be a long, tough one, but I'm ok, really. Very sad, but also very happy. I'm sorry I won't be able to keep up much with all of the other births. I was really looking forward to it. Congratulations to the mammas that have already had their LOs and I wish the rest of you beautiful, happy births!
Congrats on your little boy! So sorry about the rough last few days and the difficult weeks you have ahead. It is good to hear that the future for him looks good and I will keep him in my thoughts. I'm glad you will be able to go and be with him tomorrow and that you are recovering well. Again my thoughts will be with you and your family. Hugs.

I'm hoping the next week or two pass quickly and you get lots of time together as a new family. When you are ready I'll be eager to hear your story.
Hugs to you and Bowen!
