Women who've had a baby (or babies) before have a cervix that always feels a tiny bit open. As far as what it feels like... a firm circular area like a donut? lol. I used to check as part of TTC and I also worked in a birth unit for a short stint, so I guess it's something I've become familar with.

Oh thank goodness! Maybe baby will listen to you.

My doctor's appointment went fine. Cervix is still quite high as I predicted and for the most part, closed. So no sweep, and I'm a little relieved as I didn't actually have to make the choice. And today was likely the last time seeing my GP until the baby comes. He sent a referral to the "post dates" clinic, and they'll call to schedule an appointment for late next week (likely). While there, they will monitor baby's heart rate for a bit, do a cervix check, a sweep if I wish and discuss induction.

Until then, I'll hope the birth process starts up on its own. I think I've been doubting my body's ability to start labour naturally as I had a sweep last time that got things moving (at 41w3d). I need to be more trusting in my hormones.

I had a couple of crampy contractions during the night, some of the first I've had without Ella inducing them with some nursing. It's nice to just have a teeny reminder that my uterus is able to flex it's muscles.

When you're so visibly pregnant people feel free to ask, "when are you due?" I need to start catching myself before I answer, "x number of days ago." and replace it with, "This month." They get this shocked look on their face like you're about to bust water on their shoes, and three separate women have asked, "So how long will your doctor let you go?" The whole "let you" wording makes my skin crawl.
