Yay! Thank you! I'm actually headed out the door for a prenatal massage (!) so I'll be back later to post.

Thank you for the welcome, ladies...I can't believe how fast this pregnancy has progressed and that it's already lodge time for me.

So I'm Joy and I've been married to my husband Tyson for 7 years. We've been together for 10. We have a 2.5 year old daughter named Daphne and this little one is a boy. He will likely be our last unless there's some kind of conception miracle.

I have PCOS and we needed IVF to conceive our daughter. We got lucky and got pregnant with her on our first IVF cycle. We had two embryos left over, and did a frozen transfer in October, that failed. We were devastated because we couldn't see affording another IVF cycle anytime soon and we didn't want our children to be years and years apart in age. Our fertility doctor (who was new to us and wonderful) suggested doing an IUI with clomid, something we didn't do the first time around due to the risk of multiples. We agreed as long as I only had one follicle develop...we didn't want to risk twins or triplets. I had previously done 6 failed clomid cycles, so we were blown away when it worked. That was on December 5th - it made for a very joyous Christmas.

My pregnancy with Daphne was pretty much a breeze. I never got sick and felt great the whole time. She pretty much stopped growing at 34 weeks and was a small baby (5lbs, 8oz) when she was born at 38w3d. I had a vaginal delivery, but ended up getting an epidural at 10cm. I was prepared for a natural delivery, but when I felt the urge to push, the nurse told me I couldn't possibly be complete because I had just been 3cm 45 minutes prior and I was a first time mom. She wouldn't check me. I decided that if I still had hours left in that kind of pain, I would need an epidural. I got the epi placed and then she checked me...not only was I complete, the baby was basically falling out. I never had to push, my body pushed her out all by itself. At the time I was so overwhelmed by my baby that I wasn't upset about the epidural...I got upset once I got the bill.

This pregnancy has been much harder on me. I think a big part of it is that I'm in school full-time (career change to nursing...almost done!) and I have a 2.5 year old at home. I was extremely sick in the first trimester. I've had issues with my liver and I failed the 1 hour GTT. I passed the 3 hour, but I kind of feel like this pregnancy has been one thing after another. I've had some pre-term labor issues with regular contractions hitting me every 2.5 minutes, lasting for 60 seconds. Luckily wine and Benadryl knocked that out.

I'm planning a birth center birth with a team of midwives. The birth center has been around since the 80s, but the location where I'll be delivering just opened last year. It's beautiful: http://www.austinabc.com/~austinab/l...s/south-austin
There are three midwives at the location, two CNMs and an LPM. I like the 2 CNMs, they're young and fun, but the LPM is a bit stodgy for my tastes.

I'll do more and post some photos later...Daphne is begging me to play with her.
