Now that I have been handed my hide in the meeting with my CEO (I was given a ton of work to do 2 days before I leave on maternity leave ), I will visit with you ladies for awhile!

A little about me:

I am 30 years old from Alberta, Canada. I have lived here all my life and have no plans of moving away.

I have a degree in Psychology and a degree in Petroleum Geology. I am currently working as a petroleum geologist.

DH and I have been married for 8 years. We met a church in Dec 2001, we were engaged by Sept 2002 and married July 2003. I was still in school at the time working on my first degree. I graduated with my second in 2008

Here are some wedding pictures:

Even though I had been in school most of our marriage we did not wait very long after I graduated to start trying for our first baby.

We are fortunate in that we seem to get pregnant first cycle.

My pregnancy with my DD was incredibly easy. I had no morning sickness, I was barely even tired. No complications at all during the pregnancy.

Hayleigh Bryn was born on June 6, 2009 (at 40 + 4 days).

I will post her birth story on the next post...

DD's birth story:

Name: Hayleigh Bryn
Birthday: June 6, 2009
Weight: 7lbs, 4ozs
Pregnancy duration: 40 weeks, 4 days

I had a doctor's appointment on Friday, June 5th. He did a very hard sweep. I didn't think it worked because I had no cramping and very little bleeding.

Friday night, contractions started but they were not painful and they were very far apart. I went to an organ concert and felt fine besides the contractions. I went to bed between 10 and 11pm.

I woke up at 3:30am on Saturday nauseous and had major bowel clearing. I got into the shower at 4am because of back labour (which lasted throughout the duration - I still don't know what front labour feels like ). Tyler got up at this point and started counter pressure on my lower back. We laboured at home until 6:30 when contractions were 2-3 mintues apart and lasting 50 seconds to the peak. I threw up just before leaving.

We arrived at the hospital at 6:45. I was checked and was only 2 cm (what I had been for 2 weeks). I was discouraged but the nurse told me to walk for two hours and then she checked me again. She also gave me gravol to relieve my nausea. At 9 am, I was 4 cm and they admitted me. As I was getting off the bed to start walking again, my water broke. The nurse brought me a hot water bottle to relieve some pain and I laboured without walking in triage for an hour. I finally got into the shower (but don't know what time). After 45 minutes in the shower (heavenly!), I felt the need to have a BM and tried a couple of times. I actually tried to push it out in the shower (gross I know but I didn't care at that point) but I realized it felt a lot bigger than your average BM! DH called the nurse to check me.

She laid me on the bed. As soon as I laid down, my bag of waters popped out! Tyler thought it looked like a small balloon fell out of me! The nurse popped it and checked me. After 45 minutes in the shower I had progressed 6 cm's to a full 10 and was ready to go.

When in the delivery room, the nurses had me kneeling of the bed with my arms draped over the back. I delivered her in this position because it helped relieve back labour!

I pushed for two hours. I really had trouble when she was crowning (worst pain I felt the entire time!). The doctor was speaking forcefully to me which was exactly what I needed!

I had 2nd degree tearing almost to my bum and up so it took forever to get sewn up. The baby was a wonderful distraction though!

I couldn't have had an easier birth experience in my option. And best of all, I did it without an epidural.

Here is my little ham now (26 months):

What a lovely first birth experience! I had total back labour with my DD too - really hoping that's not the case this time! I hope your birth experience this time around is just as great!

I realized I ahven't posted about this pregnancy yet...

I am fortunate in that I get pregnant easily and have never had a miscarriage. I also have very easy pregnancies.

This time, I had a bit of tummy upset the first few months but nothing unbearable.

Everything was going fine until bleeding at 28 weeks. Doctor thought it was a partial placental detachment. It was later discovered I also had a cervical polyp - if you want to see somehting gross, Google that yuck!

At 34 weeks, I had a spontaneous u/s (the machine was in the office so they decided to take a look) and baby was measuring at 31 weeks. Because of potential placenta problems, they were worried about intraunterine growth restriction. At a growth scan a week later, baby had grown significantly. My fundal height was only 28 weeks however. My confidence in measuring baby is basically non-existant now. Anyway, baby is incredibly healthy and was even practicing breathing!

The last 2 days have been very stressful at work. We had a meeting with our CEO and every technical team had their hide handed to them. today is my last day of work and I have spent the last 2 days trying to complete the extra tasks I was given at that meeting as well as clean up and pass on my stuff.

Needless to say, I was not feeling well. I had bad lower back pain and cramping the last 2 days that lasted until I went to bed. I would sleep well however and wake up in the morning feeling fine - Braxton hicks perhaps? I thought I knew what they were but I don't know if I do!

Anyway, I got everything done so I am just cleaning up my office today and going out for t\lunch with co-workers!

I love Hayleigh's birth story - and she is just so cute!!

Glad things are getting tied up at work so you can go home and focus on the year ahead!!

Most of my extended family lives in Calgary, and my uncle is also a petroleum geologist! What a small world!

Do you have a feeling about baby gender one way or the other this time? Did you with Hayleigh?

Oh I bet it's so nice to be done with work! I loved reading your dd's birth story, she is so darn cute! I've found with each of my pregnancies, the closer I get to the birth with each baby the more I will have a pattern with my braxton hicks & it's usually around the time that I end up going into labor as well - it sounds like that might of been what was going on with your cramping.

Just read your birth story (wonderful!!)... I had an episiotomy and tore on the inside in two places with my first, so I know about the soreness! Thankfully with my second and third my body was ready for delivery and I had no tearing or anything with either of them (fingers crossed for #4 lol!). Congrats on your lodge, and I can't wait to read more about your next journey!

Super small world! I would love to ask his name but not really the place, eh?
As for the sex, I am almost positive it is a girl! I am pretty sure I saw on u/s - you start to know what to look for after seeing so many ultrasounds here!

My silly iPad would not let me finish my post! As for back labour, I am actually hoping for the same type of labour pains because I know I can handle them. I am actually scared of front contractions.

I had the best weekend!

No cramping or back ache, the weather was beautiful and we spent the weekend at our cabin. I even went in the boat (something I was nervous to do before 37 weeks. I had to wear an XL life jacket to cover the belly Smile

Today is the first week off work so DD has been asking all summer to ride a chop chop so I think I might take her to our city's historical park for a ride! Imay try to get her swimming before babe comes because we haven't done enough of that this year!

Good times!

Hooray for being done with work, and for a great weekend with DD! Swimming sounds so good right now...and it's not even all that hot here (highs around 80 I think, it's cool season since we're below the equator). I hope you get to go do some of that.

I had My first (any only) painful contractions this pregnancy. I never had any like that with DD. The only contractions I had were during labour. Quite weird but I still think I will be overdue!

I've had a few this time too, and didn't have any with DD. Maybe a BTDT mom can correct me, but I think it's normal with subsequent pregnancies. Hope you are feeling good today!

I asked my doc about them today and he said because this is the second time, my uterus is a seasoned muscle and just knows what to do.

The rest of my appointment went well. I haven't gained any weight in the last 2 weeks (I was surprised because I feel like I have gained a lot). My blood pressure was great and because of the scare of IUGR two weeks ago I didn't even ask what my measurements were. Apparently the doc that was covering for my OB is u/s happy and orders them for everyone.

Baby's heartbeat was 169+ so the doctor watched it for quite awhile but it was reactive so he didn't seem worried. He is great about not worrying Moms for no reason.

I cheatEd, I am pretty sure I saw girly parts on my 18 week u/s. I thought it was girl all along though. It sounds awful but I actually have to work myself up to be mentally prepared for a boys because I "want" girls (I really am happy with whatever I get though).

I hate the days in pregnancy when you feel like crap, both physically and emotionally.

I woke up after a crappy sleep feeling sorry for myself and in pain. DH was wonderful and got DD her breakfast which brightened my mood.

My Mom called and said she wanted to spend the morning with me and DD which also gave me a little extra boost!

DD had a doctors appointment today because she has been having an allergic reaction to something. After lots of trial and error I am almost positive it is sesame. She has now been prescribed an epipen but the waiting list to see the allergist is 6-8 months. We now have to eliminate all sesame stuff from her diet (and it is in everything!) as well as non-edible things like bandaids! We are also to stay away from tree nuts. Nobody in my family has allergies so I was not expecting this.

Baby has also had a very slow day. I keep fighting with myself about whether or not to go in. I am having a random kick once in awhile but nothing like it usually does.

When do you go in o get checked as a precaution? Am I just being paranoid?

sorry you are feeling blah. if you are worried at all i woudl at least give your doc a call. can you lay down and really pay attention and do kick counts? itsn't it like 10-15/hr? drink some juice just before too. hope your day gets better

Isn't it wonderful with the husbands step in! I love it. Sounds like you had a nice day, despite the crappy wake up call of a pregnant sore body lol

Allergies are not fun to deal with, our oldest has allergie problems & it's quite a process to go through! Hope that your able to get into an allergist sooner than the 6-8 months & that you'll get some more answers on what's going on.

If your getting at least 10 movements in an hour (helps to drink some cold water, or juice & lay on your left side), you should be okay. It's hard not to worry when they are having a quiet day & there's nothing wrong with going in just to make sure all is well.

I'm sorry you've been feeling icky, but I'm glad you had some nice things happen to cheer you up! That is a bummer about Hayleigh's allergy. I have a food allergy myself and it is an annoyance. I hope you can get it all figured out!

As far as the baby's movement goes, this is what I've always been told, and what I did when I was experiencing decreased fetal movement. First, drink some water! There's always a chance it can be caused by dehydration (which I didn't know until I ended up in the hospital). Some things you can try are: eat something sugary, take a shower, lie on your left side, and do kick counts. The standard is usually 10 kicks in an hour, but often when you actually call the doctor/midwife, they won't actually have you come in unless you're getting less than 10 in 2 hours. And a lot of times they'll have you do more than one kick count, just to make sure that you didn't catch the baby during a sleep cycle or something

I hope that little one starts wiggling around so you don't have to worry!

hope your little one decided to perk up a little!

I cant do sugar, so I always take a few swigs of diet caffeinated something and THAT always gets her moving. But eating and drinking enough can make a HUGE difference.

Can't your pedi order an Immunocap test (blood test) for sesame, if that's what you think it is? I know it's available in the US and Europe, but at least worth asking about for confirmation if nothing else, right?

That's crummy about the allergy...I know everytime DD tries something new I'm just hoping she doesn't have a reaction 'cause I really don't want to have to deal with that.

I hear you on the sore body, every morning when I roll my butt out of bed it sucks 'cause the day hasn't even started and I'm already tired! At least we're almost to the end now Smile

Hope you have a great day with your mom and DD!

I have had a weekend of many blessings and some let down.

We had a Wonderful Saturday running errands and spending time as a family. We are preparing to do some major work in our backyard next weekend so DH was busy with that. Out of the blue, the friend of DH that will be doing the bobcat work next weekend showed up Saturday night with his wife and kids and they all helped dig stumps all evening. They did it without even being asked. It is nice o be reminded how blessed we are to have such wonderful friends.

DD was a bit of a monster today. She is a really poor eater so we are on day 2 of her eating next to nothing (usually that means tomorrow will be a good eating day). She also fell asleep on the way home from church so she only got an hour long nap. This means our evening was very trying and she ended up going to bed (willingly) earlier than usual!

I am also in the middle of some family trouble which is incredibly taxing. It also makes me count my blessings because I am so fortunate with my hubby and daughter.

Absolutely no news on baby front! Besides the usual aches and pains and insomnia, I am doing well.

I did get a lecture from the lady at Costco about carrying things - although it is nice people are concerned, sometimes it would be nice if they just kept comments to themselves!

Thanks for reading!

Isn't it wonderful when friends come to help! If it weren't for some friends of ours many of our home upgrades wouldn't of been done on time - it made me smile to read that you guys have such good friends too! Sure does make a difference. Sorry your little one was being such trouble, picky eaters are difficult! I hope tomorrow is a good eating AND sleep day for her & thus for you guys! And family trouble is the *worst* ugh - sooo sorry your dealing with that, I hope it doesn't get you too down - shut that front door of yours & "lock them out" for a day or two lol

Hope you get some sleep tonight! Have you tried a liquid cal/mag supplement? That seems to help quite a bit with my own insomnia.

That is wonderful that your friends helped you guys out with the backyard! I need a friend with a bobcat who wants to come work in my yard! Wink

So sorry about the family troubles- praying for wisdom for you on how to best deal with it.

I hope DD eats better today- picky eaters can be so incredibly frustrating. That is too funny about the lady in Costco. The comments you get during pregnancy are always... interesting... Wink
