Hi.

Ok lets see what can I start with.

Today I am 38 weeks. I just got back from my OB visit and everything looks good they did the GBS swab and told me to come back in 2 weeks.

BP: 120/60
176lbs (started at 144)
(I was unable to pee)

He said I did not have any swelling just looking alittle puffy from having a summer baby. And that my numbness was normal in the eve as I maybe swelling more and it will feel like pins from some of the nerves being pinched in the wrist when I do swell.

We saw the baby on US. Still a BOY and his head is down but not engaged.

I have been nesting and got all my newborn diapers ready and put away yesterday.

After the 10th all of Heath's (my special needs child) medical visits will be over until after I am do.

I still need to buy:
Mama cloth (any sugestions?)
Breast pads
Pack and play (Before we go to VT to see Bill in Aug)

And then wash and put the infant cloths away. My DD's going to be 5 on July 3rd and my dad is buying her a new dresser for her birthday and I will be using the one she has now for the baby, so all the boys stuff will match. Right now they all have dark cherry bunkbeds, and a twin bed with a set of 3 drawers, under her bed. The boys share a 6 drawer dresser. I think I want to go all girly with her and get maybe something white, I already have a pull out queen futon that I am going to paint for her to have as a bed once we move to a bigger place and she has her own room. For right now they all are in my Dad's finished basement for a bedroom/playroom.

I have all this extra "I need to nest" energy without a nursery to get ready, so I have started 2 gardens and have been putting a few hours a day into weeding and planting them when it is not hot outside.

Oh and the car seat is in the van so all I need to do now is pack a bag and I'll be "ready" are you every ready?

Nope, you're never really ready, but it sounds like you are organized and on the ball. Well done! Glad you had such a good appt. Welcome to your lodge, looking forward to reading through it!

I just got back from getting my hair cut. It is SHORT now so I don't have to do anything but wash and air dry it. Mama and summer friendly with 4 kids and this heat.

Julianna, I still need breast pads too, sigh.

I'm glad your schedule is almost read for this new one Wink And the dresser is a nice gift from your dad Smile

Anyway, I'm glad you got your hair cut. That is wonderful! Want to share a picture?

Welcome to your lodge Mama! Smile Do you have a sewing machine, or access to one? the mama pads & breastpads that I already reach for are the ones I've made myself, or WAHM ones. I've been looking on our local news websites under their classifieds for a pack n' play - some pretty good deals there on new ones, might be worth looking there for one if you guys have that sorta thing.

Will you be delivering in a hospital? I know for awhile you were giong back ' forth but I don't think I ever saw what your final decision was.

Hospital and it is pulling at my hart strings to do it. Even more now that homebirth is covred by insurance in VT as of a few weeks ago!!! I so want to deliver at Bill's house in VT, but we could not aford it and because I have NY medicade I don't think they will take it. Part of me is thinking an oops UAHB.

I am 36 weeks and the plan of this months is:
Bill comes to visit us this weekend
I go to him the next one (and if I get my "wish" labor will start then 38 weeks) and we will be forced to call the midwife in VT and just deal with the cost Smile
I was ok with the hospital birth because my OB supports water births in the hospital tub, but I just found out that the hospital only has ONE tub!!! So if someone is using it I'll be out of luck Sad What I have to do is call and see if the hospital will let me rent and bring my own tub to use in any room.

Julianna, I'm sorry about there only being one tub. That was the way it was at my last hospital too, but they told me it wasn't that busy since so many OBs don't really allow or encourage it. Maybe you could call and ask them if it is generally in use or if there is a good chance it will be open???

Well that was my hope except my SIL was induce and that was the room they gave her  and then told her (this was in Feb) because of the IV and all her meds and epi she could not go in the water. She had pre-E so the had to give her meds after the birth too to bring down her BP even after the baby was here and until she was stable they would not move her to the Mama baby ward. She spent 3 nights in that room, that means for 4 days and 3 night not one lady who delivred in that hospital was able to have a water brith but and they where also unable to labor for pain in the tub but!!!! Because I was prego I asked one of the nurses to show me one of the other rooms without a tub and they are 1/2 the size and have a small one person no room for support also in with you shower. My OB sugested that I call the hospital and ask if I can bring my own birthing tub to set up for labor so I know he supports me. I just don't have the $200 to rent a tub right now that may not even get set up in time for delivery (it takes an hour to set up and my last births where only 3 hours long ariving 10cm to the hospital to push). I am so tempted to just go for and UAHB in the kiddy pool and if we have an issue call 911 (responce time is less then 3min to our house).

BTW no reasion for her to have that room they have 8 rooms in labor and delivery and when she was admited for the induction they where not all full. You would think they would use that one last incase someone comes in and request it???

Wow, that all sounds so complicated! I really, really hope it all works out for you. My last birth they filled the tub for me, but by the time I was ready to get in, they said I couldn't use it!! (Needed some supplemental oxygen, still not sure why that meant no water) I still went without pain meds or an epidural - so all hope is not lost for you if you can't use the tub.

That really stinks about the tub. The hospital I am delivering at only has one tub also. From what my friend told me (who previously worked there), they don't like for women to use it because it is messy. Great patient care, right? Those could have just been her sentiments though, because she is very pro-epidural, etc.
I hope you have the birth you want regardless!!!

Julianna, I'm sorry. I'm guessing at least some of the nurses don't like the birthing tub and thus that is why they don't reserve the room. Pretty dumb, you should call the hospital and discuss this issue with them. If they are going to supposedly offer the service, that room should be reserved for when a woman requests it for the water or when they are completely full.

I got the baby cloths out of storage. (not sure yet if I'm going to wash them before putting them away)
Bill will be here this weekend to help me put the bed together, he told me to make a honey due list because he wants to do stuff and has been worried that I would do to much with him 3 hours away.
We are also going to be doing my belly cast on Sunday.
And I have to pack my bag at some point.

We got the pool up (a big one with a filter) Ok so I watch and Bill did it.
Then the 2 of us made the garden trellis.
And tonight we are doing my belly cast.
He say's he is on strike on Father's day but I know when I ask him to move 4 boxes and set up the babies bed in that space he'll do it Smile It's 2 screws to put the cradle on the stand, but even so I may just butter him up with a breakfast and gift first.
At some point I need to pack my bag.

Heath still has a few Dr visits between now and when the baby is born but things are wraping up. His last big one is June 28th.

Glad he is such a good help. I'm sure a breakfast will make him want to help more tomorrow Wink

Hope you got the cradle together. And YAY for having a pool up! I am so jealous. Water feels so good when you're pregnant. Probably REALLY good when you're 38 weeks pregnant.

The cradle is up, and my belly cast is done. I even started packing my hospital bag Smile It was a good weekend. Bill did not even have to go back to VT last night as he had to report to a place an hour from here my 9am today so he spent another night. We have not had more then 1 night in a row together since April. I sleep so much better when he is here.

Dr visit today:
38 weeks
BP 120/78
Still at 176 (started at 144) I have not gained anything in the last 2 weeks.
Pee was clear
Not as swollen this week as 2 weeks ago so we think it is more weather then anything.

We talked about how my last 2 where a week late and so given that he did not think I would go early but seeing that it is my 4th and I am at 38 weeks to be ready anytime now.

We saw the baby is head down but floating still. (Time for some yoga to see if I can get him to move down)

We talked about my pelvic pain and he said it is normal and that the best thing I can do for it is to go swimming.

He took the tape to my belly but I did not ask the # all he said after he did it was "your all baby, and are not putting on wight anyplace extra" He told me I had a "nice little belly" so I asume that means I am not looking to big now. (I did show at 6 weeks and then was ahead 5 weeks until I hit 24 weeks, but I think that is from it being #4) But it was good to here that I am not huge, maybe the baby won't be 9lbs after all.

Bill keeps asking me after each OB visit if they are saying anything about WHEN it will be. His last 5 where all inductions, with pain meds so this "Wait and let the baby do it" thing is new to him Smile We watched some natural births on youtube last weekend and he was I think a little shocked at the vocal sounds some of them made. It was kind of cute too see his face like the shock of a new dad and yet know he already had 5 kids and was at the birth's of them all.

I thought I may have been leaking yesterday and having contractions every 20 min since that last post about kick counts. Sat I went to the hospital to be checked. It was not my fluid leaking just lots of CM/plug, and my cervix is "floppy and open" not sure what that means in terms of % of effacement and dilation but that is what he said. They kept me for 2 hours and then sent me home.

Today they are getting stronger but still at 20 min apart. We has sex last night and today and so far no changes. I plan on going for a walk this afternoon to see if I can get things moving. Right now I am just having a headache so I don't feel like doing much of anything. The good news is Bill did make it to NY after I went to the hospital yesterday so it was a nice "trial run" as much as I would love for it to be over. I'll be 39 weeks on Monday.

I can't keep anything down toaday. I have vomited 3 times and the last one endded in a nose bleed, so that just has me feeling tired. Contractions are about 30 min apart and lasting 70 sec so nothing huge going on with that.... It did take me 3 hours (2 hours 52 min) to get to 10 with the kick count on the baby. I lost about a shots glass of plug today (not sure why it was green) but I hope it is a sign something will happen by the end of the week. I am 39 weeks today and we go to our reg OB visit at 3pm.

Green isn't good. Sad If it's cervical mucus, green can indicate an infection, which is not a good thing. If it's amniotic fluid, green can indicate meconium, which at 39 weeks also isn't a good thing. I would call your OB ASAP with that news!

ETA: Taken together with the low kick count and vomiting, I'm very worried. If it were me, I would head to L&D.

39 week visit
Bill was able to make it with me Smile He worked about 20 min's away today and got out about 10min before the visit and was able to make it, just before the OB walked in. LOL when the OB walked in he said to me "What you think you needed to bring pertection today?" Bill had not changed.

Still no swelling
BP 120/80
178lbs so that is up 2lbs since last week
My hart rate was 104 but pounding.
I was told to go home and up my feet up.
As far as the vomiting he said if it last more then 2 days to come back, but at this point it is just hormones and my body clearing out. Call in the am if I have issues with fluids also. He also told me eat things with salt and drink soda.
I also told him about the slower kick counts.
After looking at the baby on US, Head is down, hart looks good, fluid pockets normal.

Knowing I am 39 weeks, and that I have lost my plug he said I could go anytime, but that the baby is small so if he stays in a few weeks they will be fine too.

He was not worried about the color of the plug and said "Mother nature just dose some funny things, but if you start having a temp give them a call" He is not 100% sure it has anything to do with me being ready to have the baby as much as it would be from my cervix being messed with in the L&D on Sat that made it let go. I am not smelling anything funny or having any itching that would make us think that I am having any kind of an infection.

I told him about my anxiody with Bill being so far away and Bill then told the OB what he tells me all the time "I'm going to make it, all I need is 3 hours heads up" Smile The Dr then told us a story of a husband who was in Arazona and his wife went into labor and after geting 3 flights on the fly he walked in the door and as soon as he did she pushed out the baby in 2 pushes. That my body is amazing and he has seen babies wait more then once for Dad's to make it to the room, because if that is the last thing that will let you let go and feel safe your body won't let your have a baby if your not feeling safe.

I was craving Wendy's fries on the way home and so I got some and a coke and so far it is staying down.
