Well I noticed many added their previous birth stories so I think I'll share mine! I'll share Kays first.
The Birth of Kaylee:
With my first pregnancy I had a rude and uncaring doctor who let me go undiagnoised with Pre-e and HELLP from 20ish weeks on. At my 35wk6day appointment she was on vacation [Thank God] a fellow doctor took one look at my chart, one look at how incredibly swollen I was, took my BP and said he didn’t want to scare me but that I needed to have her NOW. I was going to have 24 hours to deliver before he would press for a section and he couldnt believe that I had been allowed to work and not be on strict bed rest or even hospitalized by that point. My BP that day was 200+/100+.
Let me give you a rundown of how sick I was because of pre-e/HELLP; my legs, face and hands were swollen. My feet were so swollen my skin was literally splitting open, my face was so swollen you could hardly see my eyes, and my hands went from normal to so big that my rings had to be cut off because they were tearing open my skin. My blood pressure was dangerously high from 20 weeks on, my doctor told me it was just first-time-mom jitters...even when I insisted something was wrong at EVERY appointment I went unheard but I was young and didn’t have my own mother to guide me so I went with it. My liver and kidneys were starting to fail, the amount of protein in my urine was Insane.
I was admitted upstairs at 9am all alone. Terrified for me and for my baby. The nurses let me call my dad and at the time my boyfriend [now husband] to let them know what was going on. Shane was 2hours away at school, my dad was at work but said he would make some calls and get someone up there to be with me ASAP.
Nurses came in again set me all up with IVs, Blood pressure cuff that I had to wear the whole time I was in labor and of course the fetal monitoring devices. My little baby had such a sweet sounding heartbeat and I refused to let them turn the monitor down because the sound of her heart was the only thing keeping me sane. I also had leg cuffs to keep the circulation going in my legs while in bed since they were slightly blue from all the swelling.
9:30am-Pit started. I was already having mild contractions at that point [I figure now due to the stress]
11:45am My grandmother, dad, and uncle show up. My grandma helps me relax by rubbing my legs and hands.
1:25pm Walking around the room…kinda boring. Watch Dr. Phil also boring..have a dance party with the only nice nurse around? Priceless
2:30pm Shower time!! Felt so so amazing. The nurse says the water was hot enough to melt skin lol but it felt incredible to me.
3-5pm Nap time! Apparently labor makes me snore like a giant bear in the middle of winter.
6-8pm Visitors! Labor starts to get rough, take a low dose of regular pain killers like juiced up Tylenol…works for oh idk 15 minutes…Blek!
9:30pm 4cm (: I’m now “officially” in REAL labor according to the new nurse who isn’t my cup of tea but she’ll do because she isn’t nosey and leaves me alone for the most part. But really this is ‘real’ labor? What was going on before then?!
10-11pm Dance party(swaying hips)..this time in the skin melting shower! Nurse gets all uppidty because I didn’t tell her what I was doing. At this point I was connecting and disconnecting my own baby monitors. She wasn’t happy about that either. Stuck at 4cm…BOO
Midnight-3am ZzzZzzZzz More bear like snoring…this also displeases the nurse because she is now constantly in my room waking me up…witch. Leave me alone!!
4am: 5cm! Contractions are starting to really rock my world. Debate on getting epi then change my mind, I get up to potty and my water breaks! I start laughing and it only makes the gushing worse which of course makes me laugh harder
4:35am Ask for more pain relief, offered Epi again-refuse. 6cm 80% effaced. Dr comes in and says he isnt on call but if I want he will be just for me. I agree and he sets everything up with the nurses. Bounce on birth ball for a bit, but its uncomfortable and makes my BP shoot up.
5-6am Lots of moaning and crying and I snuck a few crackers..Shhh! I hadnt eaten in over 24 hours! 7 almost 8cm fully effaced they say its do or die time for an Epi which I gratefully accept after pit being as high as freakin possible!!!!!
6:34am The Drug Dr makes his appearance...he is like the McSteamy of this hospital...Seriously he could stab me in the back allll he wanted :P Kays heart rate dips and I am back on oxygen.
7am I am a happy drugged up lady! But I feel guilty for caving in and getting an epi but those contractions juiced up with Pit were just too much at that point. Epi works TOO well I cant feel ANYTHING.
7:25am Epi is adjusted and now only works on one half of my body...but I say to leave it alone at this point.
8am stuck at 8cm ): told to get some sleep but instead I talk with family and friends. Grandma rubs me down again which seems to do the trick and I drift off to lala land....
9am: almost at a 9! Epi is wearing off... BP is rising, kays heart rate drops again back on Oxygen until delivery. Offered to up the epi-refuse and let it wear off for the birth
10am: I want to push N O W. Nurses rush in, thankfully Dr man was already there because...I feel like there in a watermelon forcing its way out. It burns, and feels amazing all at once.
10:08am Push One....STOP there’s her head
10:10am 24 hours after the start of labor Push Two and Baby Kaylee is BORN!
Kaylee Amanda Harless was born May 8, 2009. She was 6.2lbs 18.75inches long and 36 weeks along. She had scores of 8 & 9. She was beautiful and amazing.
Small tear 3 stiches
Wow! You went through a lot with her pregnancy and birth! Great job getting through the pit labor for so long without the epi!
Your Dr was AWFUL. Makes me angry just reading it...

Rowans Birth Story!
The Birth of Rowan:
With number two, I was due February 6th, 2012. This was to be my second birth, my first natural birth. But of course things dont always go as planned. I was being induced again because of sudden severe pre-e.
Saturday night I couldnt sleep. Too many things running through my head, all the what ifs, and thoughts of HOLY CRAP I'm about to be a mom of two little monsters!! I did squats, Shane rubbed my back, I ate until I thought I would get sick, went for a walk and finally went to sleep around 5am. I was having contractions, not very strong but enough to notice them and some that were not to cozy feeling.
I woke up around 8-9am, ate, got dressed, did my make-up; yes I am really that vain lol, then woke up DH and Kay. We spent the rest of the morning cuddling with her, and making sure she was secure and happy. It was obvious she knew something was happening but had no idea her little would was going to change so dramatically. We dropped her off with Shanes dad and headed to the birth center.
11:50am Arrived at Birth Center with DH and my doula Stacy. We waited for about 15 mins for our "corner" room to be ready. The corner rooms are the best, they are HUGE. Like swanky hotel room huge, and did we complain? Heck no! lol My contractions lost all their thunder by this point. ): BOO!
12:43pm Cervix was 1.5, high and thick. UGH seriously?! Contractions alllll night and for nothing?! Darn you body, darn you!
1:15pm Foley bulb put in. Seriously the coldest thing ever to enter my lady parts. It was like they soaked it in water, froze it, let it thaw and then injected ice cubes into it. Jerks. ):< It instantly brought my contractions back. I am not allowed to walk around or get up from the bed until 10pm. WHHHAAAATTT?!
3:20pm Fed up with lack of useful internet and start chowing down since I know at midnight Im offically cut off from the surprisingly yummy caf down stairs. My doula and Shane are getting antsy, taking turns playing nurse Contractions were managable, and the liquid ice continued to cycle and making me feel like I pee'd myself over and over again. Which at that point who cares?! Im not allowed to get up anyway right? :P
6:00pm Contractions got stonger, but further apart. After two horrible cervix checks, I said NO MORE. I think part of being a nurse there means you have to have the smallest hands in the world so that you can torture your paitents by shoving their fists inside for a feel...Jerks. 4.More.Hours. with this horrible ice machine until I can finally get up!
9:10pm Lost my Mucus Plug! And what a glorious feeling that was! No really...It was amazing. The ice machine/Foley was no longer trapped and the super cold feeling went bye bye! Score
10:15pm No more Foley! It fell out on its own, which means I am offically a full 4cm. Woop woop.
11:00pm Put on my big girl diaper and got to walkin, squating, using the birth ball and hip rockin'. And eating...lots of eating, I was starving.
12:00am Monday: Hit the naughty list! I had cookies, chocolate milk and a breadstick while doing accu-pressure points with Stacy.
4am: Contractions slowed down while we were sleeping! New nurse [my favorite out of all of them] comes in to remind me there was an order for Pit to be started at 5am. Then she says, that after reading my birth plan she suggests denying it and waiting until the on call dr comes to do rounds and ask for my water to be broken first [which was the plan] We told her that was the plan and she was super happy to cancel the order.
5:30am: Dr.L is no long the on call Dr. ): Dr. T [whom I am not a fan] comes in demanding to know why I am risking my babies health by denying the Pit. Ohhh goodness; I said I wanted my water to be broken, she refused. I said then I refuse your Pit and any other treatment. She stares at me for a moment then makes some snide remark about how she doesnt understand why woman think they know everything yadda yadda yadda, DH stepped up to the plate and put her in her place. I win. Waters Broken.
5:45am 4cm 50% effaced.
10:03am 5cm 70% effaced & still no pit [Dr grumpy pants is not a happy camper]
12-3pm Lots of walking, birth balling, dancing and uncomfortable contrations
3:15pm start of low dose pit. Contactions every 3-5 mins
8:12pm 7cm pit was increased without our consent!!!!!! ):< We were all asleep. Got the lowest amount of epi possible, was able to walk and move around. Stacy sets up my room, gets the lights dim, my music started, ect "just in case"
8:20pm DH decides to run to the grocery right down the road to get dinner for him and Stacy.
8:30pm lay on side to help Ro's heart rate. Epi is wearing off already. Iwant to push..Shane still gone!! Stacy calls him and he hurries back
8:45pm Tons of preasure!! like a rocket is about to take off, everything gets set up. Stacy helps me back onto my side since thats the most comfortable with the pain pf the contractions.
8:48pm Shanes back-Push1-Ro moves the rest of the way down the canal
8:50-8:52pm- 2 more pushes and BAM we have baby!
Rowan Malachi Harless was born at 8:52pm on January 16, 2012.7.4lbs 18.5inches long. Scores of 8 & 9.
No tears, no stiches. (:
