My biggest challenge with natural childbirth (other than my water breaking and labor not starting ) is that I really don't have much stamina. I've never been able to go without sleep or food for very long. I've never pulled an all-nighter (except with a newborn) and if I skip a meal I start feeling weak and sick (high metabolism, few fat stores). So, getting lots of naps if key for me. And zofran at the start of labor helps so I can eat early on.

I totally hear you...I am much the same way. The exhaustion was by far the worst part last time, and although everyone was encouraging me to eat to keep up my strength, it was nearly impossible once labor got going in earnest. Even taking sips of juice was torture after a while. And I COULD NOT lie down because it made my contractions insane. Napping and eating as much protein as possible up front (without risking horrible consequences later...) are numbers one and two on my to-do list for this birth...

I'm really hopeful that you get your weekend baby, and are in the best possible shape to take it on once labor does start. I'm thinking waking up in the morning in early labor sounds like a good plan...

yeah, I'm going to try to stick to that plan. It really seems to be when labor hits for me. I've actually found myself, upon waking every morning without contractions, thinking "oh, I guess it's not today!"

That's actually kind of nice. My early for-real contractions started a couple of hours after a strip while walking around the mall at lunchtime, were seriously active by 3pm, and got to the "Okay, this isn't fun anymore" point in the middle of the night. It was a loooong 24 hours. And I have zero idea what to expect this time!

I'm going to hope for you that you stick with your pattern, though, since that really does seem ideal!

I hope you have a nice quick birth so there is no worry of starvation/fatigue. I think its crazy that they avoid giving people food, I ate a turkey sandwich the night I gave birth to Natalie and there were no problems. The staff was told that they would feed me or my husband was going to run and get something for me so not eating was not an option.

I had another set of contractions this morning, but they never got closer than 10-15 minutes apart and started to fade around 7am. I'm still getting a few here and there. DTD definitely gets things going. I probably should have woken DH around 5am and seen if he wanted to try again. Maybe tomorrow.

We're taking the kids apple picking this morning, for the third time this fall. I have to make sure DH takes some pictures of me with them. Maybe we'll manage to get a family photo, too.

napping while all three kids in school sounds heavenly!!!!

I really don't like to eat once the "harder" part of labor starts. I do enjoy juice the entire time though. With DD it was cranberry juice and nothing ever tasted better! LOL!

I went into labor with DS around 11:30pm and labored all night. DD I went into labor at 7:00ish in the morning. I greatly prefer a morning beginning to labor!

Are you on any type of time clock Virginia? Or can you go right up to 42+ weeks? Not that you want to of course, but curious how that will go for you if you do go late?

I'm on no real clock. My MWs would be fine letting me go to 42w (probably not past) as long as baby and I are doing fine. However, the fluid was on the low side (7-8 ) at 38w, so I suspect if I go over we'll end up talking induction whenever I have that first post-dates u/s. That's one reason I'd like to try to get things ready/moving if I can. I have no problem going well over as long as baby and I are doing fine.

The contractions stopped around 9-10am. We had fun apple picking and went on a hayride and through a corn maze, too. DH took a photo of me with all my boys. He prefers I not share photos with him, so this will have to do. The boys all look ridiculously huge next to me. I'm 5'4", DH is 6'1" and they're all on track to top 6'.

ETA: I'm totally loving the mini early labor episodes. I hope it means I'll be more ready when things start (I did try to check my own cervix and it's not 3cm and closed anymore. Nor is it amazingly open.) I also love that I get a chance to remember that labor without pitocin is totally something I can handle. Every contraction gives me a chance to think "I can do this!"
