Welcome to your lodge!
Julianna, I'm sorry about there only being one tub. That was the way it was at my last hospital too, but they told me it wasn't that busy since so many OBs don't really allow or encourage it. Maybe you could call and ask them if it is generally in use or if there is a good chance it will be open???
Well that was my hope except my SIL was induce and that was the room they gave her  and then told her (this was in Feb) because of the IV and all her meds and epi she could not go in the water. She had pre-E so the had to give her meds after the birth too to bring down her BP even after the baby was here and until she was stable they would not move her to the Mama baby ward. She spent 3 nights in that room, that means for 4 days and 3 night not one lady who delivred in that hospital was able to have a water brith but and they where also unable to labor for pain in the tub but!!!! Because I was prego I asked one of the nurses to show me one of the other rooms without a tub and they are 1/2 the size and have a small one person no room for support also in with you shower. My OB sugested that I call the hospital and ask if I can bring my own birthing tub to set up for labor so I know he supports me. I just don't have the $200 to rent a tub right now that may not even get set up in time for delivery (it takes an hour to set up and my last births where only 3 hours long ariving 10cm to the hospital to push). I am so tempted to just go for and UAHB in the kiddy pool and if we have an issue call 911 (responce time is less then 3min to our house).
BTW no reasion for her to have that room they have 8 rooms in labor and delivery and when she was admited for the induction they where not all full. You would think they would use that one last incase someone comes in and request it???
Wow, that all sounds so complicated! I really, really hope it all works out for you. My last birth they filled the tub for me, but by the time I was ready to get in, they said I couldn't use it!! (Needed some supplemental oxygen, still not sure why that meant no water) I still went without pain meds or an epidural - so all hope is not lost for you if you can't use the tub.

That really stinks about the tub. The hospital I am delivering at only has one tub also. From what my friend told me (who previously worked there), they don't like for women to use it because it is messy. Great patient care, right? Those could have just been her sentiments though, because she is very pro-epidural, etc.
I hope you have the birth you want regardless!!!
Julianna, I'm sorry. I'm guessing at least some of the nurses don't like the birthing tub and thus that is why they don't reserve the room. Pretty dumb, you should call the hospital and discuss this issue with them. If they are going to supposedly offer the service, that room should be reserved for when a woman requests it for the water or when they are completely full.
I got the baby cloths out of storage. (not sure yet if I'm going to wash them before putting them away)
Bill will be here this weekend to help me put the bed together, he told me to make a honey due list because he wants to do stuff and has been worried that I would do to much with him 3 hours away.
We are also going to be doing my belly cast on Sunday.
And I have to pack my bag at some point.
Way to go on getting the clothes out.
Good for Bill - wanting to help :)
Wow! So much catching up for me to do but I feel pretty on top of following you ladies as I board-hop between July and August. :-) Can't wait to follow your lodge!!!
