August Mamas - I'll race you! LOL!

Just yesterday it dawned on me how CLOSE we are to having a new family member! Yes, I'm at 34 weeks, and I'm the last of us in terms of due dates, but both my DS arrived early - at 37weeks and 37wk5d. That would mean that Baby could be here in 2.5 weeks! AAAAHHHH!

Am I ready? That's what people keep asking. But really, it's like asking if you are ready for a sudden change in the whole structure of your life, like the results of a minor civil war. How do you know exactly how everything will change, and how can you be "ready" for the unknown.

Do I have clothes for baby? Check
Do I have diapers? Check
Are my home birth supplies in order? Enough
Is the house ready? Um... well, I'm planning to birth in the hot tub but it's been disconnected for 1.5 months... Our neighbour needs to come by and re-wire it to the house!
Do we know who's going to be our support for the kids? Umm... not yet.


In any case, the reality that everything will turn on it's head in somewhere between 2.5 and 5.5 weeks (likely), has just hit me on the head...

How are the rest of you doing?

I'm with you. I don't see it as a race, but I was just realizing today that our first August lodge starts tomorrow!! :D And mine's the next day! It's exciting, but I'm still nowhere near ready...

No. it's not a race - in fact, I'd be happy to have it the opposite of a race ;) Realistically - see who can keep baby in longest!

HAHA! Not sure I really want to go that far... I wouldn't mind getting this baby out within a week of his due date... LOL

I think I'm prepared for the most part. I keep feeling like this baby is just going to fit snuggly right into our family the second he/she is born!

Do I have clothes for baby? Yes, just needs to be washed.
Do I have diapers? One pack, I won't buy more until I know the size of this baby. I bought a pack of newborn diapers, they go up to 10lbs, but if this baby is huge then I'll just get size 1 after that.
Are my home birth supplies in order? Yes!! I got the last of my supplies the other night. I'm quite happy.
Is the house ready? Ahh, yes. I haven't decided where my ideal birth place would be (livingroom, bedroom, bathroom..) I think that all depends where I'm comfortable and where I end up while in labour.
Do we know who's going to be our support for the kids? we have an idea, but no one has been officially asked.

Now THIS is a race I can be part of! hahaha something tells me this baby will be overdue!

No racing for me unless we're talking about going last :) I am completely and utterly unprepared. Yesterday was the gestation I was when DD2 was born and I have been freaked out coming up on that date. Our house is still a literal disaster from remodeling. I have no idea where my baby clothes and accessories are (haha, I feel like I'm talking about a barbie doll). I don't have any newborn diapers (I use sposies til the cord falls off). The carseat has been located but it is filthy. I have nothing put together for a birth kit for a hb and nothing packed as a back up hospital bag (I wanted to pack at least a few things JIC). I just hired my mw yesterday!!!!! So, no, not ready in the least, pretty much the opposite of ready. Hoping LO stays put for at LEAST another 3 weeks, making me at least 39 weeks.
