BTDT slackassishness?

With DS I was pretty on top of stuff...read lots of NCB books and watched videos and did my Hypnobabies practice and yada yada yada. This time I'm just so laid back about everything and now I'm worried I won't be ready for when this baby decides to arrive. I think part of it is that I still think I've got tons of time. DS wasn't born til 42w1d. But really, this baby could potentially come at any time. Why am I not freaking out yet?

Is this normal?

I have been slackish with everything this time it seems. Like talking to daycare about care for baby #2, what we are doing with DS while I am on leave, etc. I read some stuff this time, but not as much as last time...and I had the same thought last night in a moment of panic...like, crap, I hope I can do it this time...just b/c I did it last time, doesn't mean this time will be the same. DH and I did take a refresher class through the birth center, which was a helpful reminder of various relaxation techniques and coping strategies.

I am there with ya, though. Although I did prepare things like diapers, clothes, carseat, etc. I did procrastinate with the labor bag and bag for DS...though now they are in DH's car, riding around town with him, haha! When I got sent to the hospital for tests a couple appointments ago, that kicked my butt into high gear to pack stuff up Lol

Ditto Chimmy.

You'll do great!! It'll all come rushing back to you the moment you know you're in labour. And like the first time, you'll be amazing. Smile

yes, normal I hope! Two weeks ago I kicked into high gear and now have almost everything "ready" Now I'm just freaking out about the incredibly dirty state our house is in and really want to get down on hands and knees and literally scrub the floor. Waiting til after 37 weeks though Smile

i'm totally with you, but i'm not panicking, i keep reminding myself i ALREADY KNOW what i'm doing and its working! i have the essentials ready and now we're just waiting to go into labor! with DD i hat 17 going home outfits in the bag for the hospital, this time i figure the one i packed will be good enough until we get home from our 5 minute ride, if its too big i can change the kid! and i'm trying not to buy a million diapers ahead in case some don't work out, i have a few and i know how to send people to the store!

I was kind of neurotic about doing my Hypnobabies practice, but I hadn't done it for my first pregnancy & I also didn't have any labor with that birth to give me that "I can do this" feeling so that was new. Other than that, I was pretty nonchalant about everything baby-related but I tend to be pretty nonchalant about most things anyway. Wink With my first pregnancy, the extent of my "nesting instinct" was hunting down the perfect dresser that could be used as a changing table. Blum 3 I made a list, I checked things off, that was about as stressed as I got.

I'm only a few days behind you and I'm totally the same. With my first at this point I'm fairly certain I even had the baby bag packed. This time... I have almost nothing checked off of my baby "to do" list.

I'm not too stressed about it. I do have some boobs and my cloth diaper stash... that's all they really need anyway, right? Smile

It *looks* like I'm all organized and ready to go, but that's only because everything's still out from DD...total slackassishness here. Love that word, btw...very apt.

I don't have much to do this time but get a dresser and carseat. Otherwise I'm good (minus the hospital bag). Still, I don't remember freaking out with DD. I'm an early prepper. If I could I'd have it all ready to go as soon as I got my BFP, lol. I'm freaking out a bit about getting my hypnobabies going. I keep telling myself I'll start next weekend but then by Sunday night I remember what I was suppossed to be doing and just say "next weekend"

This exactly. Smile I've still got 6 weeks of work left, and I'm just 'assuming' she'll come after that, so I'm not even a little bit prepared! I've done literally nothing. I have some diapers that friends gave us that I haven't washed yet...other than that, nadda. If she comes early, I'm in trouble! (also, I figure, I TEACH birth classes, so I've really been very slack about not beefing up on my 'what to do in labour' prep...which might come back to bite me...)
