Can I hang here? (loss ment)

I'm a little nervous posting as I got giddy and posted last time and ended up having an early loss. This time I'm trying to be more positive though. My tests are getting darker though and my beta was 54.3 at 13DPO yesterday.

I called our local midwife group yesterday and they did an intake questionnaire over the phone. They said it takes about 2 weeks to process the new intakes and someone will call me to book a first appointment.

I originally wanted a home birth, but we have two new birthing centres opening in our province as a test run and I'm thinking I will inquire if I'm eligible for that. I really want to support the process of these new birthing centres if possible so that they open more of them. The one in Toronto opens this summer, but I can't seem to find any info on where it's located in the city yet, so I don't know if I will be close enough (I'm a 25-30 min drive from the centre of the city, but if it's in the east end then it will probably be too far as I'm north west of Toronto).

I'm excited and nervous all at once, but a little calmer today. Smile

Of course! Welcome, congratulations, and good luck for a sticky bean this time!!!

I hope the birth centers end up being workable for you...that's how I had my first and plan to have this baby, and I really think it's the best of both worlds. Great to hear that they're trying it out!

Thank you! I hope it's sticky as well!

I really want to try the birth center, but I think only people who live closer to it will be allowed. But we shall see.

Sticky bean vibes!!!

One of the midwives that was at my birth I believe just opened a center in Toronto. Have you heard of Terri Demers? She was amazing!!!! She followed the ques of my body better then I did and was very proactive at making me comfortable even if I didn't know I wanted it.

I am biased towards home births because I loved mine but I think it is an awesome idea to support the birth centers.

Terri opened the clinic but I am pretty sure she is still living in Southern Alberta. I have known Terri for about 30 years, I can PM her about the clinic.

eta: Just talked with Terri and she is still working in Alberta. She did not saw where the birthing centre is located.

I'm dying waiting for my call with my second betas. My test was the darkest yet this morning so I'm not worried, just curious.

I also can't wait for the midwife clinic to call me back! I have a wonky schedule and I'm anxious to start booking things!

Oh boy, I don't miss those days... Smile Hope it's all good news from here!

By the way, it looks like that BC is now set to open in October, but there's still no location announcement. But these ladies sound like they might know more...Toronto's new (and Ontario's first) birthing centre - Midwife Assisted Birth - BabyCenter Canada

Just got my second beta back. It tripled to 154 at 15DPO! OMG I was not expecting that! A little paranoid about twins now. I knew there was a chance with the protocol we did with the drugs and IUI, but still.....

First ultrasound is around June 6 at 6 weeks (waiting for the clinic to call me and book the exact time).

Okay. I knew she just opened one but I couldn't remember where it was at. I wish she lived in Utah because I would so higher her for my midwife. lol.

Congrats on the awesome jump on BETAs! I am sure that is a huge relief, hope you get the news you want with the twin stuff, I have heard that IUI's can cause huge jumps even without twins though. Something about it causes hormones to increase faster. IDK

Congrats on your pregnancy. I am also in Ontario (Waterloo - not Toronto) I had midwives with my last child and I can't say enough good things about them. We had a home birth, a birth center wasn't an option. The home birth was totally lovely and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Have a happy, healthy 9 months. Looking forward to following you.

Thanks. I can't wait for the midwife clinic to call me and get the ball rolling!! They said it usually takes two weeks, and I called right away so I'm hoping they aren't fully booked already as I know they book fast around here.

Funny thing is, an acquaintance I have on FB literally JUST graduated from university to be a Midwife. Turns out, she lives like 5 min north of me. She's in the pagan community with my husband so I know her, but don't really "know" her, kwim? We've talked only once or twice but been to many events together. She's super nice and I wouldn't be surprised if she works/trains with the midwife clinic I selected because it's the only one that services Brampton where I live! I think it would be awesome if she is somehow involved.

Congrats for like the millionth time lol! I hope it all works out with one of the birth centers. I'm still bummed that we didn't get midwives here in time for me to use one, we probably won't have them for several more years.

Due to my health, age and complications I could not use a midwife which sucks as I have a couple of friends who are midwives, they are a great resource for me.
