Hi ladies, I've been lurking here for a while and figured it was time to say hello- I really enjoy reading the lodges and didn't want to be "weird" stalking haha!
I'm not *yet* pregnant, but we are hoping to become pregnant in October and I'm starting my research now! We are a military family- with my husband being active duty army and deploys every 13-14 months. We "plan" pregnancy around the time we get to spend together. He will be on a break from his current deployment sometime around October and that's when we hope to become pregnant.
My DS, Jacob, was born October 2009 after a VERY long, rough, tiring pregnancy. My delivery didn't go AT ALL like planned and caused a lot of problems. I always had dreams of getting a 'natural' delivery (due to my needle phobia) but ended up being induced and having two epidurals; both of which failed so I had some what of a natural delivery as far as 'no pain medication' is concerned. I'm excited to try natural the second time around being able to utilize methods that weren't even an option with my induction.
So hello to you all and I hope to be able to learn all kinds of new natural delivery methods.![]()

Hi Pamela! Your son is adorable!! Look forward to getting to know you.
Welcome Pamela!! I could have written your post!! We are military as well. DH is leaving in a couple weeks for his 4th year overseas in 6 years of service. I also had a similar first delivery but in December 2008, right down to the failed epidural. One thing I did want to let you know is there ARE options even with Tricare. I am preparing right now for a home-birth after c/s. As far as I have been told, most (if not all) of the costs will be covered or reimbursed. If you have any questions or just want to vent about the process I am always here!! I hope your TTCing goes as planned. It's a different style to plan babies around deployments huh? LOL. Oh well, it is what it is.
But anyways, welcome again!!

Welcome Pamela! You have a beautiful baby boy. I'm glad you will be around and look foward to getting to know you better and watching your journey. I'm sure that Oct. can't get here fast enough for you or your DH! Can I ask where he is currently deployed too?

I can't wait for October to come not only will he be here for a 2 week visit, but he will also be here for DS's 1st birthday! (hopefully anyway haha he might miss it by a day or two.)
He's currently in Iraq- I'm very thankful that he's never been anywhere but there and his job keeps him VERY safe. I understand that not every family is as lucky as ours but like I said, I'm beyond grateful that it's worked out this way for us!

welcome, Pamela! Non-pregnant people are welcome here, too. I was here for several months before my 2nd pregnancy and I'm still here now. I had an induction/epidural with my first and an unmedicated birth using the Hypnobabies method with my second. I hope you get to have the birth you want this time!
To you and all our military momas--thank you for the sacrifice you make for our country. I have a lot of appreication for you ladies and your husbands.
