So a friend of mine just had a baby girl on Monday. She planned a hospital birth to a hospital that is an hour away but when it came to labor time never made it. She didn't realize she was in labor as her contractions were 10 minutes apart but she soon realized it was labor and told her husband that they wouldn't make it to the far hospital so they needed to go to the near one. She got out of the tub and sat on the toilet and her water broke soon followed by a baby head. She delivered her baby on her toilet. Little baby girl. Baby girl is having some breathing issues but is doing well other wise. This friend supports natural child birth but didn't think she could attempt a home birth. Now she has done an unassisted home birth. I'm so happy and excited for her. Praying that her little girl gets breathing better though.
A friend of mine had the same. except the ambulance had just arrived so the paramedics delivered her baby. The doctor has told her next pregnancy any twinge she is to go straight to hospital. She doesn't want another homebirth and prefers to birth in hospital but has had both her babies drug free

Mom and baby came home last night and are doing well. The paramedics didn't arrive till after she had the baby. At least that's what I'm gathering from the story. She promised to tell me the whole thing so i'm just waiting patiently till she is ready.
Her breathing must be better if they sent her home- that's awesome! A friend of mine delivered her baby herself in the car while her husband was driving like a maniac trying to get to the hospital... it didn't occur to him to pull over, apparently! It was her second birth and she does natural childbirth as well, so she was very calm about it. I am always impressed by moms who deliver their own little ones!
Wow I am glad everyone is doing well. I know someone who had their baby on the side of the interstate just recently. LOL

Congrats to her! I have a friend that labored for an hour and 15 minutes with her second and slightly longer with her first. When she and her dh moved to the area they chose their house based on the proximity to the hospital.
