cramping

This morning I woke up with really bad cramping that had me convinced I was having a miscarriage. I took some Tylenol and used a heating pad and it eased up. I had it off and on for a few hours and finally decided that it had been a while since I pooped so (TMI) I took some prune juice and a glycerin suppository and pooped. That eased some of the cramping but now I have a sharp stabbing pain on my left side that goes clear through to my back. I was thinking it was just a cyst that maybe burst, I have a history of it, but my mom mentioned ectopic pregnancy. I have a hard time believing that though because I know the day I ovulated and the day I had implantation cramping, 7 days after O, and I'm almost positive it was the right side because all the cramping around those two events was on my right side. But even with all of that I'm still freaking thinking it may be an ectopic. Tylenol gets rid of the pain completely until it starts wearing off then the pain comes straight back. I really REALLY want to avoid the ER especially since the ER for the closest hospital sucks a$$! Anyway, hoping it's just something simple. If the cramping is still like this tomorrow i'm going into the doctor, if it gets worse I'll go into the ER. Oh and I also think I may have a stupid UTI!

My SIL had an ectopic pregnancy. Her tube ruptured and she had to have emergency surgery--scary stuff. She had spotting, but not everyone does. Her OB didn't give her an u/s, even though she was complaining of cramping and spotting, and they totally could have caught it before the rupture if they had just done an u/s. But I think your symptoms kind of sound like it could be a kidney infection (a UTI that has spread)--which can be harmful to the pregnancy. Either way, I think you are doing the right thing to get it checked out if it doesn't go away soon or gets worse.

Cramping can be normal in early pregnancy but having it that bad at 5 weeks would concern me - especially if it's coming back after the tylenol wears off. Do you have a provider yet? If so & things don't ease up by tomorrow it would hurt to get things checked out.

Having had a ruptured ectopic, I can tell you that Tylenol will not touch that pain for me . But everyone's pain tolerance is different....and most ectopics don't rupture until closer to 6 weeks, since they can grow just fine in the tube for a bit.

I would get it checked out if it is persistent. KUP!

Went into the ER last night with a stabbing back pain that just wouldn't get better. I was running a fever of 102 when I was checked in. I have a kidney infection but still no spotting so everything on the baby front still looks good. *crossing fingers it stays that way* Today I am feeling tons better. I got a round of IV antibiotics through me and they are pumping me full of fluids to try and wash things out. I have a higher risk of miscarriage right now so we are asking for stick bean prayers. I'm not sure how long I will be in here for though. I could get out tonight or I could be stuck in her till tomorrow. BTW I hate HATE IV'S!!!!! All of this crap made me realize why I want a freaking home birth. lol.

I'm glad you got it checked out and found out what it was. What you were describing sounded like kidney pain to me. I'm praying that the baby will pull through! I hate IVs, too. One of the worst parts of my birth with DS was the FIVE attempts to start an IV--that was much worse than the contractions for me...I could handle what my body was doing, invastion by needles, not so much. Again, I really hope the baby continues sticking!

I'm so glad you got things checked out, but sorry your dealing with this & hope that you recovery quickly. All it took for me was a "meet & greet" appointment with a hospital midwife (who was wonderful, but still..) to make me realize why I birth at home lol S I totally understand! hope you get to go home soon.

They let me go home last night and it was so nice getting to sleep in my own bed. I was pretty excited to be getting the IV out to, though it bleed real good soaked through a stupid 2x2 before it finally stopped bleeding.

So glad it was a UTI/kidney infection rather than ectopic. Hope you continue to feel better!
