A woman I semi-know wants to try for a VBAC and it seems like the advice she is getting is very "c-section friendly." One pointed out that they have been doing c-sections safely for thousands of years. (WHAT?)
Oh my god -- please save me from going a bit postal on the ignorance.
If you have any VBAC friendly word of advice, or statistics on natural birthing.. please inform here so I can pass them on.

Much better.
Anyways, advice: I would refer her to http://ican-online.org/. ICAN has TONS of great statistics and advice.

Allison...all you can do is try to give her sound advice and the facts. People are always going to say what they think is right. Yes, it is bothersom when someone gives misinformation. But like you said, all a person can do is research and gain knowledge on the subject. I think everything you put is sound advice.

Jooniper -- I re-wrote my post. Thank you for the advice, as you are right! I let my anger and disgust get to me and wasn't thinking about the rules.![]()

Allison- I completely understand your frustration. I have had many, many discussions where my choice to VBAC and this time VBA2C were called into question by people completely ignorant on the subject. I know how frustrated you are, I really do, especially on a touchy subject like VBAC.

Above is a really good article from ICAN about VBAC's and RCS.
http://www.ican-online.org/vbac/post...-vaginal-birth
This is another good one.
Both articles cite the research used to write the article and it is good solid research. I've looked up many of the studies myself and read through them.
All you can do is put the information out there and hope people decide to inform themselves.
Ignorance isn't bliss, it's dangerous!!
As a VBAC successful Mama now excited about my upcoming HBAC all I do is share my personal story and//or excitement about my birth in a positive "here is how I felt" sort of way, allow no judgment to creep in, and offer links or books that I read in my research. I ask respect from my friends for my birthing choices, and I award them the same respect in making their choices. Honestly I do see why some people choose RCS, even if I cannot fathom making that choice myself.
