    Default Dr. Appointment (XP)

Heart rate was 162 (girl?????) My bp was 130/82 which is great for me. No weight change at all this time, got some tubes of blood to run some titers (check immunity to diseases)

The bad news is that my urine culture was ++, I have group B strep in my urine. Usually, when you are further along you get a swab for GBS and if you are +, you get antibiotics when your water breaks. But, urine GBS is different:

So, I get a round of antibiotics now and then a recheck and possible re treatment later on too. My homebirth midwife doesn't do IV meds at all so this very much could impact my birth. I so hope not, but like my blood pressure, we have to play it by ear and take it week by week.

I'm sorry to hear about the GBS postivie urine! If it indicates heavy vaginal colonization, that is NOT something to mess around with--I've read a tragic story about that. I hope that is not the case for you!

I'm sorry about the GBS+ urine test. I had the same thing at the beginning of this pregnancy. I had to do the antibiotics then, get tested again to make sure they worked, and now I'm going to have to have the IV antibiotics during labor as well. I hope it goes well for you and you don't need the antibiotics later on. I'm glad everything else at the appointment was good!

I've never heard about testing urine for GBS. Very interesting. So sorry you are having to deal with that. Glad everything else was good.

Yeah, I know. If I am + later on, I will have to hospital birth since my midwife doesn't do anything IV (fluids, meds, anything)
