    Default Emergency hospital bag?!!!

For those who've planned a home birth, what did you pack in your emergency hospital bag? So far I've got:

    4 pairs underwear
    4 pairs socks
    2 sets PJs
    a nursing bra
    Earth Mama bottom balm

I'm going to pick up a toothbrush and toothpaste to throw in there tomorrow
I think I may throw my P&S camera in there as well. We have my DSLR here anyways.
Ooooh...I should also make sure I have change for the parking meters!

If it's an emergency, I'm not going to be overly concerned with taking stuff, right? And people can always run home to pick things up if I need them after the birth. (We live all of 5 minutes away from the hospital.)

Maybe I should make a list of things for my doula to throw in there if we end up making the decision to transfer (like a hair brush, make up bag, etc....)

I didn't actually bother with an emergency bag. In the case of a real emergency, grabbing the bag will be the last thing on anyone's mind. Once I'm at the hospital and everything is settled down, hubby would have been able to run home and pick up my toothbrush and overnight stuff, the hospital has pretty much everything else.

Your list look good though. Toiletries and PJ's are really all you'll need for a quick stay.

I never packed a hospital bag for either kid. I have no idea what to put in mine, really. I know what I used with DD and what I WISH I had had (hair product, for the love of god!), but I have yet to really put anything together this time around.

Both my sisters had homebirth transfers for good reason and both were very glad to have packed an emergency bag.

I packed one too, both times and here's what I had in it:

    Mine:
    *PJs & slippers
    *toothbrush, toothpaste
    *hairbrush, ponytail holders
    *Body wash/shampoo
*razors (especially if you BF, people might be around your armpits. lol)
    *deodorant/talc
    *favourite hot water bottle
    *my pillow
    *clothing to wear home
    *nursing bras
    *chapstick
    *a little makeup for guests
*postpartum pads and Attends type underwear
    *phone card for making calls
    *camera

    Bag for Baby:
    *sleepers/hats
    *vaseline
    *diapers
    *Mild baby lotion.
    *lanolin cream, I prefer PurLan.
    *receiving blankets for swaddling.
    *manual breast pump

I didn't pack one either. The only thing that I wish I had was Lanolin. That was the only thing that the hospital didn't have that I needed. I honestly preferred their disposable panties and pads. We were about 15 mins from the hospital, and my mom brought me everything I wanted her to. The hospital had nice soft clothes for DS and blankets, socks, hats, everything he needed. They also provided diapers and wipes (we do not CD). I'd rather use their stuff while I can than dip into my supply lo, but that's just me.

ETA: I did transfer but it wasn't an emergency. The only thing I was worried about was getting in the car. I would have even gone butt-naked if they would've let me lol. Thankfully my MW and mom got me dressed.

I can definitely see how you'd be glad to have your own things in the hospital. I really DO need to get on this. I've helped clients pack their bags, but for whatever reason, I just can't get it together to do my own.

I didn't pack one, and I doubt I'll pack one this time. Your list looks good though. Maybe some lip balm and deoderant, and some stuff for your hair.
