feel like i'm running a marathon!
just looking to vent to some ladies who can sympathize...i feel like i've been in labor for the past 2 days! i'm exhausted and still pregnant. i've had lots of "practice" contractions the last few weeks, but they never settled into a pattern or were intense enough to interfere with my daily life. but saturday night i woke up with painful contractions and had to pace the living room for 3-4 hours. they were 5 minutes apart but eventually fizzled out around 5am sunday morning. then sunday afternoon, they started up again around 2pm and by 4pm they were consistently 3 min apart. again, i had to be pacing and focusing on breathing through them. i even put DS1 in front of sesame street (DH was at work) and listened to my "easy first stage" hypnobabies CD. i was so sure labor was starting! DH got home from work around 7pm, and they were still going at 3 min apart, but not intense enough to make me want to go to the hospital. so, i continued to deal with them while watching the oscars and they persisted until midnight at which point they had weakened enough that i decided to try to sleep. i fell asleep around 1am, but then was awakened at 5am this morning with VERY intense contractions that continued until about 7am. during that time, i was throwing some last minute things in my hospital bag, taking a shower, etc. so excited thinking i would be having a baby today. but, again, they fizzled out by 8am, and we just went on with our day as usual. at 4pm today, they started up again, and are still coming every few minutes, although i am not really timing them because i'm just tired of it all. i don't think i can handle another night of only 4 hrs sleep and wondering if i'm in labor! what is going on???
one theory i have is that baby girl is posterior, so all these contractions aren't being very effective in getting her to move down and out. my MW said she was posterior at my appointment last tuesday, and i have another appointment in the morning, so we'll see. i have been trying all the suggested positions for getting a posterior baby to turn.
but, really, i just don't know what my body is doing with all this off-and-on. these aren't BH contractions. they remind of how i felt when i was well into active labor with DS1. on a positive note, i am getting a lot of practice using my hypnobabies techniques! and DH is off work now for a few days, so he has been helpful with DS1 today and letting me rest. i just wish i knew if birth was imminent, or if this is going to continue for weeks. my MIL is flying in 5 days from now to be with DS1 while we are at the hospital, and she keeps offering to move her flight up and come as soon as tomorrow or wednesday, but i don't know what to tell her!
