I guess I'm the odd man out here (NOT starting a debate lol!) by saying I don't mind telling my due date. I fully agree that baby will come whenever they're ready, but I don't mind at all telling people when I'm due. I just assume that people understand that "that date" doesn't mean that will be their birth day.

I wouldn't have a problem telling people the due date if it didn't seem like you got pestered at the end about when baby is coming or when you're going to be induced. It's not "normal" around here to be "allowed" to even get a few days past 40 weeks so the mindset is quite aggravating for someone that is totally okay with going to 42 weeks or beyond. I don't think anyone needs to know because people around here are terrible about understand the estimated part of EDD Now, there are people that I have told my guess date to because I know they understand it and won't think anything about me going over if I do.

with my daughter- she was due feb 4th, and i told everyone i was hoping she'd be 10 days late to be born on DH's birthday. Well... she was born january 22nd LOL. #2 was due feb 18th, and was born 4 days early ON DH's birthday. LOL. and #2 we did not find out the gender, the cashier at 7/11 was working me over trying to get me to like have the Dr tell HER what the baby was! i have no idea why she thought it was her business! and she would NOT believe me when i told her the Dr didnt know either. i told the ultrasound tech we didn't want to know. she MIGHT have seen a little something while doing measurments, but she moved away from it quick so that WE wouldnt' see on the screen, and because gender is NOT relevant information to the OB, they did NOT record it somewhere and just hide it and not tell me. I know this because they TOLD me that its not in the chart, they don't put it in the chart, and they always asked me what flavor the baby was.

and do you have any idea how many people asked if i was dilating yet the last couple weeks of pregnancy? at the time i was too excited to not share the info, but seriously, HOW IS THAT ANYBODY'S BUSINESS BUT MINE? and they were always so excited, "OMG, you're at a 3 already? why arent you in the hospital?" because i walked around at 5 for TWO WEEKS, thats why! i know i'm the exception to the norm with that, but litterally, through 2 appointments the Dr kept telling me that i should keep a towel in the car because if i went shopping my water would break.... silly Dr, they broke it for me because it STILL hadn't broken and after 5 nights of labor starting and dying i was DONE (nobody believed me that i was NOT going past DH's birthday, i knew how favorable i was, we might have made it another few days without medical intervention, but likely wouldnt actually have made it past that day, because i would have gone back to sex and nusring DD to induce without help of the Dr breaking my water)

OMG that was the absolute worst question that I got every day that I went into work! Like I needed a reminder of how miserable I was and how much pain I was in! I guess the sad part of this whole thing is that, in the end whether or not you tell someone, they're still going to bug the heck out of you lol! If you tell them the EDD or if you say "sometime late August," as then they'll just do what the woman did to the OP lol! It makes you want to go into hiding during your last month of pregnancy... or at least it did me!

With DD2 I was due on Halloween. I never really told people my due date or when I was due, I just told everyone I'd probably have a baby around T-giving, I fully believed I'd at least go past 40 weeks and was completely prepared and fine with 42 weeks. She came on October 1st You can imagine their surprise!!! Maybe I should do that again I should be telling people I'm due in late September, not like anyone believes me after DD2 anyway.

I went over my EDD last time and people asking me "when are you inducing" followed by a war story of a friends cousin that had some crazy thingand happen got me down. As if somehow my baby had the memo that there was a specific date circled on the calendar.
